The incredible sight of a bullet being shot underwater forms a surprisingly beautiful shell-like shape in it's wake. This particular experiment was performed with a .49 Glock 22 in a common household pool. To say there's a violent release of energy when the trigger is pulled would be a massive understatement ;)

Now this is what I call a chair! A reader's dream, the Sunflower Chair's ingenious design combines the comfort of a papasan with an integrated bookcase that rings the outside. Designed by He MU and Zhang Qian from the Shanghai University of Engineering Science, the chair won the Redtory Design Award at the Design for Sitting Gran Prix competition. I'm not sure which is more awesome, this chair or the fact that there actually is a gran prix of designs devoted to sitting ;)

At first glance these might just look like piles of trash, but once light is cast on these meticulously constructed installations you are presented with a stunning surprise. Using nothing but pieces of garbage and discarded pieces, British artists Tim Noble and Sue Webster are able to create shadow art that forms smooth shapes that are completely different than what you'd expect from their shadows. Throughout their careers, the creative team have,

“Played with the idea of how humans perceive abstract images and define them with meaning. The result is surprising and powerful as it redefines how abstract forms can transform into figurative ones."

I love the disconnect between the trash and the human figures their shadow's create. Now that's what I call recycling ;)

This paper hummingbird by artist Cheong-ah Hwang is but only one example of her amazing ability to craft realistic 3D figures using nothing but paper. The effect is achieved by a unique method of folding, cutting and layering the paper that Cheong-ah came up with on her own, and I have to say it takes papercraft to a whole new level ;)

Halloween's coming around again, and you wouldn't want just any regular pumpkin adorning your doorstep. Presenting the Cannibal Pumpkin, the still technically vegetarian piece of art that's also in the process of going deeper ;)

Finish the day in style with these Chocolate Covered Strawberry Shot Glasses, the dessert that gives you sweets and natural fiber in equal measure! Filled to the brim with vanilla vodka, Godiva liquor, and some chocolate syrup, these tasty morsels are more than your average jello shot. Needless to say what you see is what you get, however try to choose the biggest strawberries you can find and freeze for extra sturdiness, we wouldn't want your cocktail confection to be too small or fall apart after all ;)

This mysterious underwater 'Crop Circle" off the coast of Japan puzzled divers who happened to come across them, and for good reason. Less than five percent of the world's oceans have been explored according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, so if there really are more things between heaven and earth, it'll probably come from the ocean.

Japanese photographer Yoji Ookata has spent the last 50 years of his life trying to unearth these underwater mysteries, the rippling six foot diameter geometric crop circle you see below being only one of the more recent. Using underwater cameras, his team discovered the artist to be a small puffer fish only a few inches in length. Swimming tirelessly through the day and night to make the intricate pattern, the males of this species apparently make them to attract females, which are drawn to the undulating hills and valleys within the pattern. The female traverses the circle, finding the male puffer, and subsequently laying their fertilized eggs in the center. I have to say I've never encountered a more beautiful and geometrically symmetrical love nest anywhere else in nature ;)

Love tea but fear staying up all night after drinking a cup? With these artfully constructed No-bake Teacup Cookies, you can have your cake tea and eat it too! And as their name implies, you don't even have to bake them either. Inspired by that scene from Willy Wonka where he drinks his tea and then takes a bite right out of the cup, these little beauties are constucted from vanilla cookie wafers, Reeese's Miniature Peanut butter cups, Ice cream sugar cones, circle pretzels and a variety of chocolate frosting. Jump past the break to see how each is made, and marvel at their construction. It's rather impressive ;)

Morning plussers, learn about sedimentation in the most delicious way possible with the Epic Breakfast Cake! Layered with goodies such as sausage, eggs, pancakes, and topped with a perfectly crisp bacon weave, the whole then is literally oozing with flavor from the pool of maple syrup at the bottom. Makes for a great stand-in at weddings too ;)

Bleeding Mycelium
The Bleeding Tooth fungus or Hydnellum pecki is something you might expect to find in Diablo rather than the pine forests of the American Pacific northwest and central Europe. Also known as the Devil's Tooth or Strawberries and Creme, it is easily identified by the striking bright reed liquid oozing from the mushroom's pores. Although not poisonous per se, it is protected from both human and animal predation by their extremely bitter taste. As for their oozing "blood," analysis has determined that it actually contains an anticoagulant called atromentrin which has similar properties to the natural organic anti-clotting agent heparin. This is definitely one of those cases in nature where it's safer to look but not touch ;)

Aah, I could really use one of these Glass Balcony Pools for my apartment! Just a wonderful concept for now, it's one selling point for the ISM Parinee Ohm Tower, a proposed 30 story luxury condominium slated for construction in Mumbai, India. Considering the local climate there, I'd say they could use the easy pool access it more than I. Of course that doesn't mean I can't drop over once it's built ;)

The only way this tender moment between a girl and her horse could be more picturesque is if it was a unicorn instead. Then again I did just watch Legend again recently ;)

Do not attempt to adjust your computer screens, this Krzywy Domek or "Crooked House" is a shopping center in Sopot, Poland that's seriously bent out of shape! Designed in 2004 by  Szotynscy & Zaleski, the crazy lines make it look like something out of a cartoon. Luckily the interior is a bit more contemporary and less mind bending ;)

Ready to have your mind blown? Apparently we've all been using those disposable ketchup cups incorrectly this whole time. Due to some clever papercraft, they are each designed to open and fan out, allowing you to dispense even more ketchup to dunk your french fries in. Next thing you know people will be using these for origami, and I can't wait ;)

With nearly a decade of experience working as a maze illustrator for Japanese fashion magazine POPYE followed by another decade working in architecture, artist Takanori Aiba combines the two disciplines in spectacular fashion with these labyrinthine Bonsai Tree Houses. Each one has their own unique character, but they all share the same sprawling architecture, intricate details, and whimsical tone when greeted by the eye. Made from craft paper, plastic, plaster, acrylic resin, paint, and other materials, Aiba molds each delicate feature around the natural curves of the Bonsai Tree that serves as the foundation. I almost wish I could shrink and explore these miniature havens more closely, but I'll settle for the next best thing and watch some Miyazaki movies ;)

Emerald Sea
A stunning video of the Aurora Australis taken by the crew of Expedition 29 on the ISS on September 17, 2011 as they pass from south of Madagascar to just north of Australia over the Indian ocean. Hope you all enjoy the show, I think +Ron Garan would approve ;)

Morning plussers, have time to get creative for breakfast? If so, let your eyes feast on the simplicity of Nutella Turnovers, the breakfast treat that features a core of nutella and melted marshmallows wrapped within the many-layered folds of a delectably flaky crescent roll. Best of all, what you see is what you get. Feel free to play around with the filling by adding favorites such as strawberries or bananas. Just don't forget to add the nutella ;)

Might I interest you in some Bacon-Wrapped Sweet Potato Fries for lunch today? These decadent delights are a cinch to make, and most of the work involves wrapping each sweet stick with it's own coat of bacon. You can consider them a labor of love, even if they wont last long out in the open ;)

Night plussrs, there's no need to be afraid of the dark, but if you're comforted by light you might want to have a few of these Glow Jars handy. Made by simply emptying the contents of glow sticks into glass jars and shaking them all over the inner surface, the comforting soft glow lends a great effect and will help lull even the most frightened child to sleep ;)

Who said sundaes had to be sweet? Spend the last days of summer enjoying the BBQ Sundae, a savory treat that proves form does not necessarily equal function. With a healthy mix of pulled pork, mashed potatoes, BBQ sauce, and even a Cherry Tomato for good measure, this "dish" might even get a pass of approval from a wandering nutritionist. Looks aside, I'd love to see the reaction of people trying this and tasting one thing while expecting something completely different ;)

Celebrate the end of the week with the decadence that is Kit Kat Cake! Fear not hyperglycemics, I assure you there is a cake buried under that liberal application of M&Ms, although I have to say the thought of a cake that consists completely of candy does intrigue me. But I digress, this is a vanilla cake with buttercream frosting that's been dressed and decorated to perfection by a fence of Kit Kats and crown of M&Ms. As cakes go it's relatively simple to make, and it immediately catches the eye of all chocolate lovers in the room ;)

This is not a tattoo, rather this is the result of scarring from a lightning strike. A month ago, Winston Kemp was struck by lightning, but instead of superpowers he got the Lichtenberg figure, a branching pattern that occurs as electricity travels down flesh. Thankfully he survived to tell the tale, and has a cool pattern on his arm to show for it, albeit temporary ;)
