Current conditions in the Sierra Nevada: snow level can still be as low as 9000 feet for north-facing slopes, but for iceout at major lakes, 10,000 feet seems to be the magic number this week. The road to Saddlebag Lake is still closed, but it's only a 2 mile walk from the Tioga Pass road, Hwy 120. After your hike, stop at the Tioga Pass Resort for burgers. http://www.tiogapassresort.com/

If I can finish stuffing my backpack in time, I hope to depart Tuolumne Meadows this afternoon for Waterwheel Falls, about 9 miles downhill. This photo was from Tuolumne Meadows just after sunset a couple of weeks ago.

Had a nice hike to Waterwheel Falls on the Tuolumne River a couple of days ago. I haven't looked at all of the photos from my trip yet, but will try to upload more as I get to them. First I may do another 2-3 night backpack trip.
