This is my Mum.
She passed away 16 December 2007.

We kept telling her that she looked like Dame Judi Dench when her (Mum's) hair was growing back after chemo. She wasn't very impressed! (Judi is 13 years older than Mum)

So... Here Mum lined up next to Dame Judi. Two fine English women at 60 years young

Some of my photographs from last nights Light the Night

Many thanks to +Hendrik Ebber  for joining us and also to +Al Christensen

It was a lovely evening out, the reason for it not so lovely. To give you a bit of a "key" to the lantern colours, Blue are for supporters, White are for patients and survivors, Yellow are in memory of those who passed away.

There were and overwhelming number of Blue Lanterns, unfortunately there were far too many white and yellow ones. I found myself quite choked up trying to explain the colours to my son while we there and am actually quite teary looking through the pictures this morning.

All in all, a great night for a great cause.

Most favourite photograph of my year

Printed up on canvas twice, one graces my fathers wall the other my neurosurgeons wall.
Particularly proud of it being on dads wall. He was a newspaper photographer and quite selective about what he puts on the walls.

Teacher: 100 - Student: 0

"I don't understand why my grade was so low. How did I do on my research paper?"

"Actually, you didn't turn in a research paper. You submitted a large, awkward, random assemblage of sentences. [In] fact, the sentences you apparently kidnapped in the dead of night and forced into this violent and arbitrary plan of yours clearly seemed to be placed on the pages against their will. Reading your paper was like watching unfamiliar, uncomfortable people interact at a cocktail party that no one wanted to attend in the first place. You didn't submit a research paper. You submitted a hostage situation."

Due to the recent comments re size I thought I'd add this post.

All of these photos are of me at different sizes.

People are people and deserve to be treated like people not numbers no matter what shape or size they are

Our bodies will go through many changes in our life. Our bodies change through ageing, pregnancy, illness, weight loss, weight gain the list goes on. One thing we must learn to do is love our bodies before, during and after....

Be loyal to your body, love your body, it's the only one you've got.
