This fun photo, shot in Le Louvre in Paris, in front of the famous Henri Regnault's "Three Graces" painting was posted on #Facebook by Jim Harris . The next day it had been removed due to violation of FB community standards, probably driven by complaints, although the reactions from people were overwhelmingly positive.
Cf. photos. - inclus quelques raretés (dont certains auxquels j'ai participé... ;-)
Am I the only one to come across more and more profiles and pages with a large fake following (incl. +1 & comments by fake followers) ?
Some pages/profiles suddenly get huge amounts of followers from Vietnam, India, Eastern Europe... (incl. plenty of blue ghosts).
E.g.: a page in France, had 221 followers on 02/27. Since then, they receive 2500+ followers per day, mainly blueghosts and foreign profiles, for a total of 98K followers today, with an average engagement of 2 +1's, 0 comments and 0 reshares, per post. Compare this to their Twitter (3247 followers) & FB (1227 likes).
Another one, from France too, had 3076 followers on 02/12. Since then it gets between 2500 & 5000 followers per day, totalling 186K followers, with a relatively low engagement (2 comments - 1 reshares - 14 +1's per post).
These are no celebrities/artists... The 1st is a "biz" blog, 2nd an "art sharing" page.
Have a strange phenomenon in my stream since yesterday: I see posts from people - I'm not following & who don't follow me. I found more than 200 people so far and still counting...
I tried to clear history, close Chrome... reload/refresh stream... they keep comin'... These are real posts by real people in various languages... Mainly from South-Europe/South-America as far as I can decipher what's written...
Didn't change my "strict" circles policy lately... Wondering if 'm alone here...
People relating to music: musicians with interesting views, music biz and labels, bloggers, founders of great music apps, related to music 2.0... I'd like to expand it...
RESHARE: Just (re)discovered this feature, but still don't know (remember) if I did something special to get it or if it was just auto-created by +YouTube, as I can't adjust settings or anything else...
The header states: Blog KoToNTeeJ - auto generated by YouTube
+KoToNTeeJ is my blog about music (Jazz and African, mainly). Each post contains at least one video, sometimes more, usually from YT. YT agregates all the videos I embedded into a "global" page with 2 parts: * a stream of the latest videos I published, with excerpt and link back to original post, * popular videos, just showing a bunch of other vids I used, with no link or trackback.
All the links originate from FeedBurner and point back to the blog with: utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed_<nameofbloghere>_
It would be interesting to connect to a +Google+ page or profile, as least showing an icon somewhere...
As hunter-gatherers, the Baka will build a village in the forest near a seasonal food source and stay there for a month or two until they have harvested all they can. "Kopolo" is a Baka word to describe a village where the surrounding forest is empty of easily found food.
As there is more pressure on the Baka to settle in permanent villages by the roadside, the forest around their homes becomes "Kopolo" and their hunter-gatherer lifestyle is threatened. In these villages they are forced into the cash economy, but are right at the bottom. Music becomes a way for them to earn a living and be able to afford to buy food for their families, whilst also providing a means of making a wider world aware of their plight and so fight for the right to have access to their traditional lands that they are rapidly being forced from.
+Google Play here's a problem in the music store: 2 albums I submitted for +Djeli Moussa Diawara months ago, don't appear in search or artist's profile, although direct link is OK.
Here's their performance at the national selection contest. A post title I found via Google: See Hirsute Estonian Punk Maniacs Winny Puhh's Insane Eurovision Spectacle
Probably the next viral music video, after Psy's Gangnam Style...
There might be some fun the day of the final... ;-)
If you added a +Google+ icon or badge to your web properties, you probably received this email or you'll get it soon. => Update your Google Profile Icon
Hello,
New changes require that you update the Google Profile icon on your site ...that is if you want it to work properly.
Don't worry, this isn't spam. You’re receiving this message because you’ve added the Google Profile icon to your site (thanks, btw). However, to continue using the icon you need to update the code snippet. When you update, your old icon will be replaced with the latest graphic, and will load faster for users. The old code will be deprecated soon, and as a result, if you do not change your code the profile icon may soon disappear.
The simplest update you can make to keep the Google Profile icon on your site is to replace the old icon URL with the new one. For example, if you're using the 32 pixel icon, you now need to use this URL:
Alternatively, you can grab a new snippet of code to update the Profile icon from the personal badge config tool. Choose "Icon" for the Profile icon, or use "Badge" for the new interactive widget:
RESHARE: This and the "blue ghost"! And all these empty profiles...

This documentary (1995) I watched last night is too awesome not to share.
If you like #blues or #worldmusic - dreams or quests or unbelievable journeys, friendship... If you like to discover the world, to travel to far places, and for many more reasons, watch this!
You'll discover Tuva, Tuvan throatsinging (a particular variant of overtone/harmonic singing), how the late Paul Pena, a blind Bluesman, learnt by himself the language, the songs... and what happened during his journey in Tuva...
The Story of a Blind Blues Musician's Triumphant Journey to the Lost Land of Tuva
Paul Pena played blues with the greats T-Bone Walker, B.B. King, and Bonnie Raitt. In 1995, the blind bluesman became the first American ever to compete in an unusual contest of multi-harmonic "throatsinging."
The Autonomous Republic of Tuva, wedged between Siberia and Mongolia, for centuries has been isolated from the rest of the world by jagged mountains and Soviet restrictions. Only recently have the Tuvan art form of throatsinging become known to outsiders.
Pena discovered Tuvan throatsinging on a shortwave program of Radio Moscow twelve years ago. Multiple voices emanated from a single vocalist and the sounds gripped him like nothing he had ever heard. For the next nine years he worked to produce similar overtones with his own voice and to incorporate throatsinging into his blues music.
Unexpectedly in 1993, Pena discovered that Tuvan throatsingers were on their first concert tour of the U.S.. After their performance, the deep-voiced bluesman broke into his own self-taught style of throatsinging and serenaded the musicians with Tuvan traditional songs! The throatsingers were amazed by Pena's mastery of the Tuvan art form and likened his rich voice to the sounds of tremors in the earth. They insisted that "Chershemjer" (Earthquake) travel to Tuva for the next tri-ennial throatsinging contest which would be held in 1995.
Eleven years after he first heard throat singing, Paul Pena entered the National Theatre of Tuva to make history. The blind bluseman's performance was so well received, he became the 1995 throatsinging champion in the style of kargyraa. He also captured the "audience favorite" award for the week-long competition. The Tuvan people had never seen or heard anyone like him.
Pena was honored by the Tuvan people, not only because he mastered kargyraa, but he also learned to speak their language. His friendship flourished with Kongar-ol Ondar, the throatsinging champion who had invited Pena three years earlier. Ondar hosted Pena as the bluesman experienced the country he once believed he would never visit.
"Genghis Blues" is a film about exploration and friendship. It is the story of a man whose struggle in life is not defined by conformity and rules but by an unquenchable curiosity, and love of music. Pena's story is truly an inspiration to all.
Kred (another approach to influence scoring, like Klout) is going the LinkedIn route, to gather engagement..
"You are in the top 10% of Influencers on Kred." they just sent me through email. The associated tweet I sent says "I'm a Top 10% Influencer with an Elite Kred Score of 600!"
I have absolutely no idea what's the Elite Kred Score and don't find it anywhere on the site...
Are you on Kred? Do you understand how the various scores are calculated?

While the study in itself may not be overly conclusive – it is a relatively small sample size and the methodology is unlikely to be totally accurate -this is a pretty alarming figure and it raises serious implications for brand activity on Twitter.

The precise age of Fatma Baraka, aka Bi Kidude remains unknown. Her official documents state that her year of birth is 1928, but nobody believes that to be the case. Oral history records that she was divorced by the time the shilling was introduced to Zanzibar in 1936, and though we should always expect the unexpected where BK is concerned, to be divorced by the age of 8, still takes some doing.
We visited BK at her nephew's house near Bububu while filming an update to our documentary film about her, 'As Old As My Tongue'. Bububu, named after the steam trains which used to run there is some 10 kilometres outside Zanzibar's famous Stone Town where BK still owns a house on a site given to her by her mother in 1966.
She has been staying with her nephew for the past few months while recovering after exhaustion, pancreatitis, and being diagnosed as diabetic following shows last summer in Poland and the Comoros Islands.
During the week that we were there, Bi Kidude defied the critics who believe she should retire from public life by greeting her fans at the annual Sauti za Busara music festival. She also dropped in to sing at a rehearsal for the new 'girl group' Tausi Taarab Orchestra, with whom she has performed in Lebanon and Egypt since we last filmed in 2009.
During a moment of reflection, Bi Kidude reminded us that she has won many awards in her life, and has even taken a shit in the Queen's toilet. She was too diplomatic to tell us exactly which queen, but she clearly remains firmly a woman of the people, with little respect for authority.
"They say I am old, they say I am ill, but I am still strong. My legs might look like cooking sticks but I am not going to sit around and wait to die. I will only get old if I stop being naughty."
Hello, a quick question: I just installed the new "Tag Assistant" Chrome extension to check my sites, and noticed that my blogs where Disqus is implemented for commenting, have 2 GAnalytics tags : - the original one I've been using for years, - a "new" one (I don't know when this happened...) with 4 custom variables: CV1 is Component: embed, CV2 is Package: free, CV3 is Forum: <name of my blog here>, CV4 is Version: next All 4 seems to relate to Disqus implementation.
(unfortunately I can't copy/paste what's in the window, nor export)
Both appear as "working", but the message states "non-standard implementation" (of course ;-) ) and "Multiple Google Analytics tags detected", both with Help links to explain how to implement GA.
* Is that a problem to have 2 GA code declared this way? * Is that a normal step for Disqus to implement a 2nd GA code (it seems to be related to their new Discovery solution to increase traffic/revenue) without telling me?
Before I definetely remove this plugin, I moved its settings to "comment only", to see if the tag disappears.
In response to +Guy Kawasaki's photo he's just published. Here, I'm visiting the Python's Temple in Ouidah, near the slaves route to the sea, in Benin...
In the 1930s, Sam's Trio, led by Jacob Sam, was the most influential of the high-life guitar-bands. Their "Yaa Amponsah", three versions of which were recorded in 1928 for Zonophone, was a major hit that remains a popular staple of numerous high-life bands.
Like the previous post (Maitre Gazonga), most of this music was recorded in Abidjan during the 80s, where so many musicians from various countries met and worked together, creating a giant & rich melting pot of "music in all styles"
In my next life I want to live my life backwards. Woody Allen #QOTD
"You start out dead and get that out of the way. Then you wake up in an old people's home feeling better every day. You get kicked out for being too healthy, go collect your pension, and then when you start work, you get a gold watch and a party on your first day. You work for 40 years until you're young enough to enjoy your retirement. You party, drink alcohol, and are generally promiscuous, then you are ready for high school. You then go to primary school, you become a kid, you play. You have no responsibilities, you become a baby until you are born. And then you spend your last 9 months floating in luxurious spa-like conditions with central heating and room service on tap, larger quarters every day and then Voila! You finish off as an orgasm!"

Do you love music? World Music? African Music? Jazz? Afrobeat? AfroJazz? Here are some pages I recommend to you: artists in +Telser Booking's catalog from Benin, Guinea, Senegal... Some have been touring for years, some are brand new. Anyway, it's #musiceveryday ...
In the letter of engagement Locog sent out to musicians it has asked to help "create a once in a lifetime experience for all the spectators" it offers £50 per act per hour. Yes, that's per act. So a five-piece band would make £10 each.
Do it for promotion?
But when one reads Locog's terms, it's clear there's not much publicity to be had from these events as artists are not allowed to promote themselves in any way. Locog insists musicians are not permitted to sell or distribute merchandise or promotional material (so no flyers), or to wear clothing featuring branding (names/logos), including references to the Games. They're not even allowed to "associate themselves with the London 2012 logo or the Olympic Games or promote or advertise that they're performing at the Games". Why? To protect the official Olympic sponsors from having their brands compromised in any way.
Where do I click to add content on the new profile layout ? 1 - switch to edit mode 2 - locate the icon shown below on many different sections, including the companies you've worked for or you're actual job.
Then add a link, a title and a description.
If you want to add images: - if they're already on the web (page you own...), right click on the image, copy the link (contextual menu) and paste it. - if they're not, use a public folder in Google Drive or any cloud service.

RESHARE: I posted this photo one month ago, stating credits unknown at the time, as I didn't find who the photographer was. As I said, this photo has already made rounds on the Interwebs and social networks. Do a google image search, and you'll see for yourself.
1 month later, this same photo appears in my stream again, through reshares, this time with the name of some guy pasted on it. As far as I understand, after checking his stream where he does the same on all the stuff he shares, he might not declare copyright on the photo, but just publicizing his name on Google+ or other website, as the sharer, and obviously confusing people...
This behaviour is bad to me. What do you think? I know many on Google+ are already fighting against this kind of "appropriation" of others' work to get fame and recognition. Sharing is good. But this kind of "entitlement" isn't... Not crediting isn't either.
Through what I found, it seems that this photo originates from Jean-Pierre Hallet's work in Congo (Belgian adventurer, naturalist, humanitarian and art collector). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean-Pierre_Hallet
Efé children of the Ituri Forest in Zaire (Rep. of Congo, central Africa) begin the Osani game by sitting in a circle, feet touching, all connected. Each child in turn names a round object like the sun (oi), the moon (tiba), a star (bibi) an eye (ue) and then goes on to name a figurative expression of “round” like the circle of the family, togetherness, a baby in the womb, or the cycle of the moon. As players fail to come up with a term that is “circular” they are eliminated from the game. Eventually, only one remains. Tradition has it that this player will live a long and prosperous life.
RESHARE: This post generated a nice ripple effect and many comments across the shares. Thx to all. In the various comments threads, there's a proposition to have an adult tag or flag on +Google+ photos such as the one by +deviantART or +500px sites to avoid takedowns and policy enforcement. What do you think?
