Thank you +Olivier Du Tré !! for both the blog post and the inspiration I get from what you do.
I may not get many plusses on my work and that's ok.... it's mine, for me, but I DO appreciate any one that takes the time to comment and plus, even though I am terrible at interacting without someone making that first comment. Sorry, that's just me, like it or leave it.

A friend and I spent the afternoon, a couple weeks back, at a photography workshop called “Beyond the Snapshot, The Art of Building and Creating Fine Photographs” put on by www.riveraction.org.
It was held at the #FiggeArtMuseum in Davenport Iowa. Afterward we spent some time checking out some of the exhibits, it seemed like the theme was glass. This photo was from the "Corn Zone" exhibit that greets you at the elevator and will be onsite through June 8th. Link to the site and more info right here... http://www.figgeartmuseum.org/Figge-Art-Museum-%281%29/January-2014-%281%29/Corn-Zone.aspx

I decided to make a stop down by the roller dam after work  Saturday, I was told there were eagles & a couple of swans on the water this week.
The snow started flying when I got there and just kept getting heavier, so I cut the visit short after accumulating about a half inch on my coat. LOL
These are a little fuzzy from the weather and from using the 2x multiplier on my 70-200 f2.8 All the spots are snow falling....

    Abstract Eagle
We had a visitor this weekend...
I couldn't get as close as I wanted but it was great to see him anyway.
I was trying to get some shots of him leaving and my camera lost the focus track part way through.
I kind of liked this when I saw it.... I hadn't thought about trying to make an abstract, but it worked out pretty good.

    "Mirror Mirror"

So... a month ago I posted a teaser photo from our trip to Wisconsin....
The photo I've been holding out on is now registered so I can start posting it and making some prints to sell. I had a little fun with this version, I'll post the original later, as it is a whole different photo when you accidentally rotate it instead of mirroring it!
I had this printed 36" long and entered it in our annual photo contest and it took 1st place!
I'm pretty excited about this one, seeing it on the back of the camera I knew it was one of the best shots I've made, it feels like a Thomas Kinkade painting for some reason...
All adjustments were made in Lightroon, other than the mirror.

I'm trying something a little different here with my B&W processing... let me know what you think. This is an old barn we found along the road in Wisconsin over the weekend.
I used Lightroom to start, +onOne Software  to do a little layering and then back to LR to finish.

Here's another one from over the weekend...
This is the Keystone Bridge over the Turkey River in Elkader, IA.
We drove into town to check out a church I could see from out on the highway, but I got sidetracked at the bridge and ran out of light on the church before we could get there.... maybe next time.... at least I know now what time will be good to get the right light.

We decided to take a road trip to Wisconsin today to get some apples. Other than the wind, it was a pretty nice day. On the way home the light was about perfect, with the breaks in the clouds I could set up a shot and watch the shadows roam across the landscape until it was right where I wanted it, then I took the shots. Anyone traveling with me with this kind of light knows to wear a seat belt because I stop quickly when I see the right light on a scene.
I think I may have shot one of the best photos I've ever gotten tonight!!!! We had just started across a bridge when my wife and I saw it at the same time, so the brakes went on and the van pulled a quick u-turn.
This is a shot off the bridge, as a teaser, so you have some idea of what the actual shot is.... if you can imagine what I was looking for, the light kept changing and I was ready for it from a different vantage point.... The shot itself is going to stay offline until I decide what I am going to do with it as far as registering a copyright.
This view is missing a few things from the "money shot".
Think Thomas Kinkade and you'll get an idea of what I have!

Our photo club had a little outing over the weekend and I actually had the chance to attend! I usually like larger waterfalls, but the layered rock and leaves really made this a great location. I'll have to keep it in mind for family photos and other things.....  :o)

    I'm surrounded by hoes!!!
    Back hoes, that is......  :o)
The city decided it would be a good time to finally drop water lines and sewer for us, after building here almost 20 years ago....
We have two hoes digging the water lines in up front and three out back running sewer and storm sewer lines. For some reason they have decided we need a bike lane too.... so....... our road will be torn up to widen it and put in a walking / bike path next to the new road.......
UGH!  hashtag... driving through construction for the next 6-9 months just to get out of the driveway........

Thought I'd try a little light painting on this... even got some short star trails!

    Week 40: Lyrically Inspired
    #P52BW13 | +Project 52 B&W
    Curated by +Tisha Craw, +Susan Porter, & +Lauri Novak

Ok, I'm a week behind and having a bad hair day (and tired) ... but I think it adds to the effect of the photo.
My lyrics of choice are from a favorite band that I have yet to see live  :o(
I've had free box seat tickets for two of their best concerts and had to give them up for being at the hospital having kids.... yes, both times! But they are worth it :o)
"If you can't see what I'm trying to say, maybe you just
Need to wear my shoes for awhile. I can't live your way.
    Go ahead without me.
    I'll find my own way"
From the song "Some People Fly" by #Queensryche

Well, I finally added some photos from my trip to Kipnuk, Alaska back in August. Check out the whole album at the link below. This one is from the first full day there when we actually got to see sunlight and no rain! When the sun doesn't go down until 11:30 or later, it makes for some great sunset light and plenty of time to roam around for lots of different shots.
The last building on the right is the church we were building.

If the government has shut down the National Parks, who is paying the people to guard against people going in to see them anyway??
So, are they shut down or not?
    I call B S !!
The money is still being spent and possibly more of it, if it takes more people to guard the closing that it does to run it open!

Sounds like a piss poor excuse to twist people's arms into giving in to something or someone they don't believe in?
And the people sitting in DC not doing their jobs are still getting paid?? How about they fix their own problem instead of forcing the rest of us to pay for a problem we didn't make or vote for?

Time to vote them all out... on both sides!

I've had a request for some photos, to be put up in a store here in town, so I'm just going through and editing a few photos in Lightroom 5 that I had been putting off until I learn more Photoshop... and some that I like but I'm reprocessing them just to see what I can make better. I'm liking the new options that keep getting put into LR. Maybe I'll be going back to some others I've been holding back on...?
This is just a quick edit I did last night
Top photo is sooc raw converted to JPG, from a bracketed set.
Bottom is processed with Lightroom 5 using multiple gradient filters.
I still use gradients in the field, but sometimes it's easier in "LR" where you aren't limited to how many filters you can use without degrading the photo and focus as you would by putting multiple filters in front of a lens. You have more options on placement and multiple angles too in "LR".
This is #MillsLake in #rmnp Rocky Mountain National Park Colorado, from my trip in Sept. 2011

Maybe this explains some names that I haven't seen in awhile on my stream?..........
    Thanks +Sandra Parlow !
If you are posting to communities and want the public to see your posts, you need to be aware of this!

    Reshared text:
Yesterday I had a message from someone asking me for some help in getting around Google+ and how to get people to see their work.  I checked out this person's page and lo and behold, I'd been following him, but his name was unknown to me.    This was some of the advice I gave him...........  It's amazing to me how many  people DO NOT REALIZE THIS!!!!!

*I have you in my circles but I don't recognize your name.  I never see your work.  Looking at your page I see why...  you seem to post only to communities.  Did you know that when you post to a community the only people who can see it in their stream are the people who also belong to the community?
If I want to see your work, I have to visit your page.  And I just don't have time to visit every page.  Neither does anyone else.  I often share new people who need attention, and if they post only to communities I don't share them, because there is no point to it as  your work won't be seen in their streams either.   You can post a photo to public and then share it to a community, and that prevents it from showing up on your page a bunch of times.  If people visit your page and see the same photo over and over again from community postings, they get bored.  You know that saying about "you have 3.something seconds to catch someone's attention"?  Yeah...  people have short attention spans.
By posting to communities only you are not allowing a huge audience to view your work, but are only allowing the people in the community access to it.*

I forgot to mention that there is a setting you have to change to not have community posts show up on your profile page as well.  That will keep your page neat and clean!!

I just thought I'd share this part publicly in case there are any other new people who watch me who don't know this information yet.   ;)

My friends that shoot air shows would tell me this isn't a good shot because it doesn't show the full rotation on the props.......
ptpppp whatever, I like it any way.
Our "home base" before we headed for Kipnuk was at the end of the Soldotna airport's runway, so we got to see some different planes coming and going and a few touch and go's from someone practicing for their license.

I'm back from Alaska and trying to get caught up again. I wish I could have stayed another week or two. While I was gone, the kids spent the whole week getting ready for the marching band "half time" show. Friday night they put on an early show for the parents. They have two more weeks to "polish" their routines and then the real show goes on for the first home game.

After fighting weather and other problems for the last couple months, I finally got my new deck to a point where it is usable, just in time to leave for a 10 day Alaska trip! The trim work can wait, I need a break to let the muscles catch up and stop hurting... but the pain is oh so worth it!
Now if it would just warm up again so we can get in the pool.... 50's overnight and 60's during the day just doesn't cut it.... I'm not quite ready for the polar bear club! LOL!

So... my Canadian friends.... if you are outside next Saturday morning and you see a jet fly over, headed to Alaska, wave! It might be the one I am on waving at you!  :o)
I will be "off the grid" for 10 days in Kipnuk Alaska all the way out against the Bearing Sea, just South of Nome. I'm hoping for a good mind cleansing and restart so I can start seeing clearly again, photographically and otherwise...
10 days without G+ , cell phones, friends!!! it's going to be hard, but it is something I've been needing for awhile, and I'll be helping people I've never met that live in "minimal" conditions instead of having everything within walking distance. I can't wait!!
Hopefully I'll have a chance to meet up with an old friend in Soldotna too.
I am totally dreading coming home to my email accounts.... that insanity will start all over again... ugh!!

We finally had a chance to get the camper out, so the last five days have been pretty lazy. I did bring the camera along, there is always something to find, especially when the weather kicks up or when the sun goes down. The silhouette theme this week worked out pretty well since I happened to find these guys enjoying the weather and fishing off the dock as the sun went down, usually the boats keep the dock busy.

Sorry for the re-share... the first post photos were a bit pixelated so I reloaded them at a higher res.

We had a strange lightning storm? cloud last night...
There was no rain and barely any sound with this, just a quiet rumble. This cloud moved by very slowly but the lightning was non- stop flashing, almost every second for about 10 minutes.
I had to keep wiping off my lens there was so much humidity!

    Project 52 B&W
    Week 26: Architecture
    #P52BW13 | +Project 52 B&W
    Curated by +Tisha Craw, +Susan Porter, & +Lauri Novak

Well, I'm still cruising that roller coaster..... I think they all went home and left me on the ride in a loop!!  ugh!
This is a bird house one of the kids made.... what's the importance of it? It's one of the things that is still normal, not broken and/or stayed dry this week... So far this week we have emptied the fridge and thrown away almost everything because it died..... we've had over 7 inches of rain on top of all the rain we've had over the last 3 weeks, so all the holes I've dug to start building our deck, are full of water and have collapsed the dirt back into them..... our sump pump decided to stop working, (hence the "stayed dry?").... we've spent the last two days emptying the basement and throwing stuff away, luckily we ONLY had 6 inches of water in it....only!!......
our dryer decided to die right when we needed it to dry clothes and stuff from the basement..... and now once again we are emptying the fridge because it died again!!!!
But things are looking up a bit. It's Friday!!!! and we are supposed to have a sunny weekend!! The repair man is coming to fix everything, and the basement is clean, we just have to run the fans for a few days to make sure it gets good and dry. Time to relax and hit the pool after work.  :o)
I had all these ideas of buildings to photograph for this week's theme, but this is the only one that really has any meaning to it.
    Have a great weekend everyone!!!

    #P52BW13 | +Project 52 B&W
    Curated by +Tisha Craw, +Susan Porter, & +Lauri Novak

I haven't been shooting in awhile, but I did manage to get myself to a ball game where our local camera store was sponsoring a photo night.  Canon and Nikon had lenses there for us to try so I got there early and got the EF300m f2.8 and a 1.4 extender before they were taken! This one just happened to have a small DOF so I did get one shot that week that worked....
If you would like to see some of the other shots, you can find them here http://timmcadamphotography.zenfolio.com/p105773314

Yes +Tisha Craw , I will be making it a point to post on the right days now.... Sorry.... and thanks! :o)

    Week 23: Broken
    #P52BW13 | +Project 52 B&W
    Curated by +Tisha Craw, +Susan Porter, & +Lauri Novak

I love roller coasters! The feeling you get when you leave the seat and float, and you aren't holding on to anything!.... if I could be any animal, I would be an eagle so I could just soar on the wind above everything.
Then there's the other roller coaster that I've been on for the last two weeks... sometimes I just want to say "I've had enough! Let me off this ride!!!"
We've celebrated two of my daughter's graduations, one from HS and the other from college, we've spent about 10 days with my Mom that lives 900 miles away.
And then.......... mixed into all the joy, we've had to remember the loss of my cousin (6/6/08) and my brother (5/29/10), both murdered two years apart minus a week.
Despite the pain that comes from both losses, I've been lucky enough to get to see the good that has come from their deaths. Most people don't get to see a glimpse of the "big picture" when something happens, they just have to hope it was for naught, and try to go on....
    everything happens for a reason..........
it just might not be one you are ready to accept....
unless, you can learn to see what's not the obvious, and that you aren't the center of the universe.....

I played around with the "lens corrections" in LR again on this one, it just looked too plain without it. :o)

Remembering my cousin Todd Bahr today....
It's been 5 years now and still seems like yesterday.
EOW 6/6/08  Badge 337 Fredericksburg Police

Todd was answering a disturbance call and was protecting someone he didn't even know, from an ex-boyfriend that was there to kill her. He was ambushed and killed doing the job he loved so much.
If all cops were like him, you wouldn't have people talking bad about them and hating them. He set a pretty high standard and treated people with respect no matter what they did wrong.
He is, and will be missed by a lot of people....
Who else could bring doughnuts with a smile to a cop car and get away with it? LOL!
    Rest in Peace Cuz!

3 Years ago today my brother was taken from us by a coward with a gun and a mission to live off the state instead of being a contributing part of society.
Time has gone so fast, it still seems like yesterday.
We love and miss you bro!!

I found these curves at work tonight. This one would be pretty sweet in our boat, but I'll settle for the v6 that we have.... it's held it's own against a few bigger motored boats...  I'd need to add some stabilizers if it were any faster. I don't think I could afford the fuel for this one either!   :oD

Sorry I'm a day late.... I was unplugged for a bit, I need some stress reduction!!
I was helping my cousin add on to his shed so he can bring in some new equipment for his business. It was such a beautiful couple of days but I think I got a little bit of a sunburn.... just enough that I can feel it but not enough that it hurts.
I wish I could spend more time out here instead of in the office.

    Week 19: Food
    #P52BW13 | +Project 52 B&W
    Curated by +Tisha Craw, +Susan Porter, & +Lauri Novak

I'm not much for food photography so I just grabbed a few things from the fridge... there wasn't a lot there to work with but I did find some good colors to use. An orange pepper, red/yellow apple, red/green strawberry and a green(ish) celery stalk. I took them out to our table on the deck and almost put a white posterboard under them, but I liked the pattern of the expanded metal and black color against the smooth lines and color of the food.
While I was working in LR I went to do a lens correction and thought I'd do something different and pick a lens I don't have.... I went with a 15mm f2.8 and it twisted the view to this! I'll go with this view over the boring shot I had.....  :o)

    Week 18: Speed
    #P52BW13 | +Project 52 B&W
    Curated by +Tisha Craw, +Susan Porter, & +Lauri Novak

This was kind of an "Oops" shot from prom pictures last weekend. The guys wanted to do a jump shot and I wasn't ready for the shot the first time. This isn't so much about speed other than the "lack of" from me not being ready, but they are moving....   :o)
I liked the way the sky blew out so I just made it into a high key shot. The tree behind almost gives it a look of movement too by the shape and direction of the branches.
We ended up getting home about 6:30 the next morning after working the "after prom" party at school. Loooong day but lots of fun!

    #P52BW13 | +Project 52 B&W
    Curated by +Tisha Craw, +Susan Porter, & +Lauri Novak

I was going to shoot this cute little night light we have in the spare bathroom, but after playing with this one I kind of like the lines on it. This is the curtain and the light bleeding through underneath on the stage during the change over at my middle daughter's last school band concert this week. The color version has some neat colors so I thought I'd try it in B&W. It was lights out except for this light so I had to bump the ISO a bit to hand hold this.

    Curated by +Tisha Craw, +Susan Porter, & +Lauri Novak

Tisha, I did the Google search for "fade" and only found goofy haircuts.... maybe that was the point? :o)
Well.... on our 15th anniversary we went to Wisconsin Dells for the weekend.
(Notice the date at the bottom)
We found a little photo booth at the put-put golf range and hopped in.
12 1/2 years later, this is what the photo looks like... the one on the left is what is left of the faded original, the right is what I could tweak it to without getting too crazy.
I hate heat sensitive printing but can't believe it has held on this long! I think I had better get a good shot of this and bring it back, and print it before it gets any worse!

This is the tank I've been driving all winter. My work beater is making a lot of noise and I haven't been able to work on it yet.... so I've been using that excuse to drive this for the last 5 months  :o)
Now that the weather is warming up, I won't be able to use that excuse much longer.....
I love driving the truck, but it usually doesn't get many miles put on it, we usually just use it during camping season and when the snow gets deep.
The grunge treatment just seemed the right thing to do on this shot. This was processed in Lightroom other than a little spot cleanup in PS.

We had some great clouds flying by over the moon tonight, on my way home from work. By the time I got home and got out the camera, it looked like everything had blown over. So, I played around trying to get a decent moon shot and the clouds decided to come back... :o)
I had to get this one fast, the clouds were moving pretty quickly. I shot two exposures and blended the moon back in so it wasn't so blown out.
I shot at a pretty high ISO to keep things sharp otherwise I'd have lost the textures.

    28 Quotes On Play

Here's a collection of my favorite quotes on play.
“Life is the game that must be played.” – Edwin Arlington Robinson

“Look closely and find subtle ways to play in your work. Play breaks up the burden of labor and gives it ananda – deep meaningful joy.” – Thomas Moore

“A person might be able to play without being creative, but he sure can’t be creative without playing.” — Kurt Hanks and Jay Parry

“You can discover more about a person in an hour of play than in a year of conversation.” – Plato

“It is in playing, and perhaps only in playing, that the child is free to be creative.” – D W Winnicott

“We all operate in two contrasting modes, which might be called open and closed. The open mode is more relaxed, more receptive, more exploratory, more democratic, more playful and more humorous. The closed mode is the tighter, more rigid, more hierarchical, more tunnel-visioned. Most people, unfortunately spend most of their time in the closed mode. Not that the closed mode cannot be helpful. If you are leaping a ravine, the moment of takeoff is a bad time for considering alternative strategies. When you charge the enemy machine-gun post, don’t waste energy trying to see the funny side of it. Do it in the “closed” mode. But the moment the action is over, try to return to the “open” mode—to open your mind again to all the feedback from our action that enables us to tell whether the action has been successful, or whether further action is need to improve on what we have done. In other words, we must return to the open mode, because in that mode we are the most aware, most receptive, most creative, and therefore at our most intelligent.” — John Cleese

“Creative people are curious, flexible, persistent, and independent with a tremendous spirit of adventure and a love of play.” – Henri Matisse

“Necessity may be the mother of invention, but play is certainly the father.” – Roger von Oech

“Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn.” – O Fred Donaldson

“It is paradoxical that many educators and parents still differentiate between a time for learning and a time for play without seeing the vital connection between them.” – Leo F. Buscaglia

“The more I want to get something done, the less I call it work.” – Richard Bach

“Children need the freedom and time to play. Play is not a luxury. Play is a necessity.” – Kay Redfield Jamison

“Play is training for the unexpected.” – Marc Bekoff

“Whoever wants to understand much must play much.” – Gottfried Benn

“Deep meaning lies often in childish play.” – Johann Friedrich von Schiller

“A child who does not play is not a child, but the man who does not play has lost forever the child who lived in him.” – Pablo Neruda

“When we come together to play and be we are truly ourselves When we are truly ourselves it is wonderful and when we act collectively in that wonder we do transformative work for our community and our world.” – Brad Colby

“Too much of our work amounts to the drudgery of arranging means toward ends, mechanically placing the right foot in front of the left and the left in front of the right, moving down narrow corridors toward narrow goals. Play widens the halls. Work will always be with us, and many works are worthy. But the worthiest works of all often reflect an artful creativity that looks more like play than work.” — James Ogilvy

“Almost all creativity involves purposeful play.” – Abraham Maslow

“Sometimes you have to play a long time to be able to play like yourself.” – Miles Davis

“Don’t play the saxophone. Let it play you.” – Charlie Parker

“To the art of working well a civilized race would add the art of playing well.” – George Santayana

“If you must play, decide on three things at the start: the rules of the game, the stakes, and the quitting time” – Chinese Proverbs

“There is work that is work and there is play that is play; there is play that is work and work that is play. And in only one of these lies happiness.” – Gelett Burgess

“Work and play are words used to describe the same thing under differing conditions.” – Mark Twain

“A child loves his play, not because it’s easy, but because it’s hard.” – Benjamin Spock

“Man is most nearly himself when he achieves the seriousness of a child at play.” – Heraclitus

Yes, that is my tripod with a leg against the sliding glass door!
+Lambert Schlumpf wondered how I got the caster to stand.... answer is, white thread!
It's funny the things you can come up with when you don't have a full time studio or softboxes to shoot with, and you need to get a shot. I tend to "wing it" and just go with the flow..... unless I'm taking a trip and getting some good "landscape" time in.

    Week 10: Reflecting
    #P52BW13 | +Project 52 B&W
    Curated by +Tisha Craw , +David Bowden , & +Susan Porter

I had a hard time this week because my reflecting is usually water or shiny stuff. The way our weather has been and the snow on the ground keeps me from doing that. I was doing some cleaning and ran across some prototype parts that I used to make for different people when I found this gem. So... reflecting would be the many years I spent working with this product and how much fun I had.
    Here's the story....
I was working in a small shop in the middle of nowhere about 16 years ago???
A guy showed up one day in shorts and sandals saying he had this great idea and couldn't find anyone in California, where he had been living, to make prototypes for this. He handed us a napkin with a rough drawing on it. After talking for awhile we figured out he was pretty serious and if this worked, it would help a lot of disabled people. So I took the task of making cad drawings and helping to engineer these "wheelchair suspension" forks. I built him a couple pair of forks to do his testing and turned him loose... He did everything he could think of to try to destroy these things and couldn't, so we knew he had a future with these. One of the tests I remember was pushing someone through an obstacle course of 2x4's, rocks, grass and a curb or two... Now, on a normal wheelchair, a person would be on their face and hurting... badly.... to our surprise and some expectations, the forks ran over the objects and kept going without pitching a person out of the chair!! For a few years after testing ,the company I worked for produced the production runs and design changes and additions for this product, until we couldn't keep up. Now days, he has a manufacturing shop of his own and sells these to about every chair manufacturer in the world, and for "power chairs" too...... all this from an idea of how to help a few friends and a napkin drawing..... Just goes to show what you can do if you believe in something and don't ever give up!
Check out this video of the Frog Legs in action... especially the part after 2:15 !!!!!  Frog legs basic

I'll post a photo of how I did this shot...... no studio, just a table and some off the wall ideas and things laying around the house LOL!

I converted this in Lightroom then went to onOne's Perfect Photo Suite 7 and looked through the B&W module for a neat preset. Just so happens this one is called "paprazzi" ! I applied that  and brought it back to LR to grunge it just a bit.

She was so cute (and cold) we couldn't leave her out there. Fast forward to this year... her siblings from down the road (and a litter or 10 later) are now adopting us and staying on our deck!! I don't think we will be bringing all three of them in this time... although one is long haired and verrrrry pretty!

I think we have been adopted... This is one of the kitties that has decided we have better food and scratching than down the road where she came from. She has a couple brothers and a small kitten that show up once in awhile, they all look like our Bella so I'm guessing they are all siblings to one momma over the last couple of years. One we named "Moe" because of the wide white stripe from his nose to the back of his head like a mohawk!.
We haven't talked my wife into letting her in yet.......... yet  :o)

    Week 6: Rule of Thirds
    #P52BW13 | +Project 52 B&W
    Curated by +Tisha Craw , +Gene Bowker , +David Bowden

Thought I'd play with the word "thirds" a bit.... I grabbed the 1/3 cup and started to look for a backdrop, I found a black blanket to set it apart from the background..... I was thinking minimalism here. When I went looking for something to hold the blanket up with, I noticed a foot stool (box) that had the top sewn with the tic-tac-toe "thirds" pattern on it, so I decided to use it instead of the blanket. We had some nice soft light from the overcast sky outside, so I set it up on my daughter's bed to catch a nice side light to give all a little shadow for some mid tones. No flash, just available light.

    Pink Rainbow

I found these in my oldest daughter's room. She's away at college right now so I can touch them without her having a fit!   :o)
She works at Victoria's Secret and loves collecting the dogs (and other things....). The blanket these are on is pretty psychedelic too so the dogs fit right in. I called this the "rainbow" because these are the R.O.Y.G.B.I.V. colored ones she has.... there are way more than just these in her room!!! (where do they get the money for this stuff??)

    Reshared text:
My friends think I'm a freak, but it's only because I care.
I'm writing this for my friends who are on Facebook. I'm writing it here so I can share the link on FB, because that's the only way I post there anymore. And before you pass this off as "just another anti-FB rant" take a few minutes to actually read it.

I used to be an avid FB user. I run our office from home, and I don't have any other office staff here. So for large portions of the day, I'm alone. It's was nice to take a break every now and then and pop onto FB to see what my friends were up to.

Then, I was introduced to G+, and after the initial break-in period of figuring out that this was not the same thing as FB in a different format, but was something totally different, I really started to enjoy connecting with people based on interests. But I still used FB to keep up with my friends, most of whom had no interest in using G+.

Then FB started changing. Changing privacy settings and TOS behind the scenes, and laughing it off with an "Oh, my bad!" when they got called on it. And now we have FB Exchange and FB Graph. If you don't think these are anything for you to be concerned about, let me share with you what happened to one of my friends today. See the photo below? That is a screen shot of a public post, made by FB on behalf of my friend (I blocked out her name & avatar.), without her knowledge or consent. (Other than by using FB, you agree to their TOS, so you have given consent).  It's out there, in Graph search, from now to eternity. My friend knew nothing about it, and she can't even see this post from her page. And she never even "Liked" these links, even though FB says she did!

I'm not a techy person, so rather than me rambling on about it, I'll refer you to this video by +J.C. Kendall for an explanation of FB Exchange. Go to 4:18.  http://goo.gl/fcEM7

The only "solution" that I know of, other than trying to delete your FB account, is this:

    >>> First, log out of FB if you are not already logged out, and be sure you log out from every device you may be logged in from, like your phone or tablet.

    >>> Second, clean your system and clear cookies to get rid of the FB super cookie. If you don't know how to do this, have a friend show you, because you need to know this if you're going to use the Internet.

    >>> After that, never log onto FB again directly from your usual browser window. Open an incognito window, and log in from there, don't visit any other web sites, or open any other windows or tabs while you are logged on, log off as soon as you are finished, and close the browser. If you don't know how to do that, instructions are here:  http://goo.gl/t9aUD

    >>> Clear cookies regularly.

    >>> Don't "Like" anything that you are not comfortable being made public. You can have all your FB privacy settings locked down as tight as they will go, but if you "Like" a page or link, that's going to be Public, and the people you are connected to are going to see a post about it like the one below.
    >>> And ask someone who is techy what can be done about this if you're using a phone or tablet - because I have no clue, sorry. I won't log onto FB from my phone.

    >>> Give Google+ a try. :)

I'm not rabidly anti-Facebook, but this example shows you clearly that you should be concerned with their policies, and just tweaking your own privacy settings is not going to protect you. So call me a freak if you want, but it's just because I care about you.

A great list of people to follow here!!
Make sure you check out the other lists too that are at the end of the post!!

    First Name T-Z

    The #photographerstofollow  2013 #alphabetcircles

    Curated by +Gene Bowker

So who are these folks? And why are they photographers to follow?

First of all.. this circle contains a bunch of my closest friends on G+. The folks that I spend the most time "with" on here.  There are a bunch of great photographers and just as importantly "good people" here.

How I decide who to circle and share:

    1) Active : They have posted within the last month. With the holidays a lot of folks have slowed down but these folks are still there. Yes, I visited each stream.

    2) Original : These photographers are sharing mostly  "THEIR OWN WORK" and their stream is mostly photography.
    3) Interactive : I try to find folks who are interactive and comment on their own posts and the posts of others.

    4) Honestly, 99% of them circle me too. I usually figure if someone doesn't circle back, they are no longer interested in my work and I make room for someone else in my circling

There are some names you will recognize in here for sure, but there are also some folks you probably don't know yet. Hopefully you will take some time to check them out and see if they have room in your circles.

Any omissions are wholy on me too as no one asked for did anything to be included in here.

I hope you'll reshare in your stream!

I love it when people take the time to reshare these circles.

It allows my friends to be introduced to your friends.. and promotes some great photography on G+.

    Not in here

There is no need to ask for inclusion.  I add folks as I come across them,  you can read more about how I select at

Be Original. Be Active. Be Interactive.

There is a good chance we'll cross paths before I share the circles again.

This is the last circle for round one in 2013. As my new job starts next week, I'll be spending less time around Google+ until I get moved to ATL and settled in with the new position.

Here are the #alphabetcircles for 2013

Since I still owe you guys a selfy, I'll throw this one in.
I took this while working on my shot for week 4 "Camera" and didn't even realize it until I started going back through some shots tonight. I had just come home from getting a root canal so I wasn't really all there at the time  ;o)

My "Big Gun" (EF70-200 f2.8 L IS II) wouldn't fit if I wanted this shot to work, the mirrors weren't big enough.
This is my Canon 5D MKII, EF24-105 f4. L IS USM etc.... , and 580EXII.
I do a lot of "CAD" solid modeling and drafting at work, so this popped into my head while I was getting ready for work this week. I processed this in LR4 and played with some of the sliders I normally don't use, like "Grain" to get the effect.

    Week 3: Frozen
    #P52BW13 | +Project 52 B&W
    Curated by +Tisha Craw , +Gene Bowker , +David Bowden

For me, this is a moment frozen in time.
After the mentally, physically and emotionally draining week I had before, this view is what finally set me free for a short time while everyone else was sleeping.
This is a view of downtown Chicago from the top floor of the hotel we stayed at.
I spent quite awhile watching the trains and traffic moving around and just enjoying the lights.
I had to do this "hand held" because, like a dummy, I thought "why would I need a tripod this weekend if I'm shooting a dance competition???" Never crossed my mind that I would be on the top floor looking out over the city at night..... DUH!

Had to put our baby to sleep last Friday... the vet said his liver was shut down and he hadn't really eaten much since just after Christmas. We were to the point of feeding him with a medicine syringe hoping his meds would help but they weren't doing any good. He was still getting around good and was happy, he just didn't have the energy or stamina to do much. He was still the mellow, easy going sweetie until the end, holding my finger with his big paws. We had a great year and a couple weeks with him, so sad he had to go so young. This photo was Christmas morning, I think he was saying "it's time to feed me!"

We got him pretty young and he was still a bit wild so he would hide a lot. I'd mew at him like a kitten and he would come out and talk to me and purr.
I met the family at the vet Friday morning and walked in with my shades on, he just looked at me. As soon as I took them off his eyes lit up and he started talking to me and purring... it was pretty hard to keep it together after that. I held one of his big paws and started to pet it and he grabbed my finger and squeezed it and nuzzled me. He had such a great personality.

We will miss you Little Guy!!! R.I.P.

WARNING  This is NOT my photo....  I repeat, this is NOT my photo!!

I got this in an email today... I just have to share it.
PEOPLE!! There are these wonderful things out there called BOOKS, SCHOOLS, and the INTERNET
    USE THEM!!!
Sad thing is, there are people out there that think this way!!  Heck, turn on PBS or something if you need to and watch a program about nature!!

Better yet... GET OUT THERE AND BE A PART OF IT !!!

(stores don't make their own meat.... there's already enough chemicals and garbage in our food that is supposed to be "real" but we aren't to that point yet!)

    Week 1: Happy New Year
    #P52BW13 | +Project 52 B&W
    Curated by +Tisha Craw, +Gene Bowker, & +David Bowden

This is how it usually goes when trying to get a family photo or just the kids.....
One person stares at the camera, the others keep moving or looking around or making noises and laughing. Sometimes I wonder why we even try, then you look at all the photos and there is a good one where no one was expecting you to hit the shutter... and you get a good shot. Even if you never get that perfect posed "cheese" photo that the wifey wants, you always get the true character showing through. You just have to relax and realize, those goofy photos will always mean more and make you smile after the kids are grown and gone.

Edit..... Processed in LR4 & Silver Efex Pro2

Awesome shots from +Colby Brown !
I agree, it should be about what moves and inspired you to take the photo, not what others think or how many +1's & comments the photo received.
