    BEST GOOGLE+ CIRCLES EVER SHARED
I don't always share circles, but when I do, I make a list of the best ones

But, but... Google+ is boring. No, it's not. You didn't circle enough interesting people. Let me help you.

This list contains the most interesting circles shared and I listed them by categories like: General, Google related, Social media, Hangouters, Bloggers, Journalists, Photographers, G+ Pages, Celebrities, YouTubers, Creative people, Ladies, Men & Science.

Take a look in the circles that interest you most and circle what's for you. If you want even more you can take a look in the Google+ Shared Circles database here: http://goo.gl/8oSmz by +Chris Porter or to look for people in the g+ directories that you'll find here: http://goo.gl/lHkIy

    I. THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GOOGLE+ PAGES

Pages can be made for a variety of different entities whereas profiles can only be made for people.
Businesses can have multiple pages, so your product manager, for example, could run a Google+ Page just for his or her product line, while someone else runs the corporate brand. You could also do pages for particular events, though right now, there’s no event-specific type of support
For smaller companies and brands, there is no verification process that certifies your Google+ Page as yours currently. However, when you verify your email that you added in the contact info, it will show you a small verification badge in the contact info section proving that you are the owner of that email.
Pages can’t add people to circles until the page is added first or mentioned.
Google+ Pages automatically unfollow the users that unfollowed the page.
The default privacy setting for elements on your page profile is public.
    Pages have the +1 button.
Pages can’t +1 other pages, nor can they +1 stuff on the Web.
    Pages can’t play games.
Pages don’t have the option to share to ‘Extended circles’.
Pages don’t receive notifications via email, text, or in the Google bar.
Pages can’t hangout on a mobile device.
Local pages have special fields that help people find the business’ physical location.

II. HOW TO CREATE A GOOGLE+ PAGE

    1. Choose an Accessible Gmail Account (optional)
Set up a new gmail account to make it accessible to multiple members of your marketing team (because multiple admins and ownership transfer are not supported yet, however the Google+ team said they're working on it)

    2. Click Create a page or go to https://plus.google.com/pages/create

    3. Pick a categoryur business fits into. The categories are as follows:
    Local Business or Place
Suitable for: hotels, restaurants, places, stores, services. Requires the primary phone number of the local business, so it can be located on Google Places.
Local businesses get special listings, and it all starts after you choose the “Local” option by entering a phone number.

    Product or Brand
Suitable for: apparel, cars, electronics, financial services

    Company, Institution or Organization
Suitable for: companies, institutions, organizations, non-profits

    Arts, Entertainments or Sports
Suitable for: films, TV, music, books, sports, shows

    Other
Suitable if your business doesn't fit into another category

    4. Add Info
Next step is entering your business name and website. After this, you have to select an additional category that suits your business. These sub-categories are dependent on the main category you choose.

For example, for "product or brand" you can choose from the likes of food and drink, arts and entertainment, fashion and beauty, home and garden, etc.

You then need to select who can view your Google+ profile. The default is any Google user, or you can restrict this to 18 and older or 21 and older.

    5. Tagline and Photo
You have 10 words to summarize your business in the tagline. After you've done this, you can add an image.

    6. Get the Word Out
In the next step Google offers you the ability to tell your personal Google+ circles about your new business page. However, you will not do this right now.

Customize your page even further and start sharing a few updates before you begin telling the world about it. Promoting a blank page isn't a great way to convince people that your Page is valuable enough to add to their Circles. So invest some time into optimizing your page and sharing a few links to valuable content before you start promoting it to the masses.

    III. CUSTOMIZING A GOOGLE+ PAGE

To go from your personal profile to one of your page, click on the small down arrow under your name.

Edit your page profile by adding an ‘introduction’, contact info and website. To do this simply click on the blue ‘edit profile’ button.

Your bio allows you to put in your entire service offering. Make it count. It even has a full rich text editor so you can bold, underline and italicize your text, input hyperlinks, bulleting and numbers.

Add Scrapbook Photos. To add images to create a ‘photostrip’ effect, click on the blue ‘edit profile’ button and then click ‘Add some photos here’. See how to make the photostrip effect here: http://www.siliconbeachtraining.co.uk/blog/how-to-customise-your-google-plusprofile-page/

If you want to show geo location information in newly uploaded albums and photos, be sure to check the box under the ‘Photo’s’ tab when editing your page.

Set up a short URL or redirect of some kind that’s memorable. For example for my +Creative Web Design page, I will create www.creativewebdesign.ro/+. That will be easier for everybody to share.

IV. SHARING AS A GOOGLE+ PAGE

Make sure you pre-populate your page with content before announcing it to your fans on other networks. That way, they’re more likely to add you to their Google+ Circles when they get to your page.

You can do many of the same things that a personal account can do, including: share photos, share videos, share links, conduct hangouts.

There are currently 2 calls to action for your potential followers, have them ‘circle’ you (or add your brand page to their circles) and +1 your page.

It doesn’t appear that there’s any support for automatically posting to a page. That’s likely to come as part of a future Google+ API release. Google gave no further update on when this is coming.

Unlike Facebook, Google+ Pages is a little more forgiving if you make a typo in a post or suddenly decide you don’t want people to leave comments or share with others – you can edit the post or change that setting AFTER you’ve posted.

Regularly share fresh content, react and respond to your fans, be engaging, and optimize for lead generation. Then measure, adapt your strategy, and optimize your presence based on your own individual results and goals.

You can disable comments on posts you share via your Brand page. When you disable comments on a post, other people will no longer be able to leave comments (but they can still +1 and reshare it). You can also delete a post or disable resharing if that's what you want.

What NOT to do. Don’t spam. Don’t leave comments in other people’s posts asking them to follow your page. Don’t share to often. You will get your page deleted. And probably your personal account as well. I warned you.

    V. PROMOTING YOUR GOOGLE+ PAGE

Link up your Google+ Pages on your website using the Badge Maker so that you get the benefit of the rel=publisher tag and make yourself eligible for Google Direct Connect. To get the custom code, click on the ‘Get started’ link on your brand page profile and then go to the ‘Connect your website’ section.

Cross promote on all your other networks. Post a link to your new Google+ page on your other social media, email newsletters, and on your site, inviting followers there to add your page to their circles on Google+.

Post interesting, relevant content; ask questions that get people to comment and engage; and don’t be shy about asking followers to share your posts with their friends.

Post a variety of content. Make use of Google+’s rich display of photos and videos. Google+ displays media in follower’s streams more prominently and pleasingly than Facebook, so it’s a big “plus” here to call attention to your posts.

Engage with followers. Encourage and participate in conversations about your posts.

Ask your employee base to promote your Google+ Page to their networks. This is doubly easy if your employees are using Google+ for Apps, since you can just send an all-system email. If they’re already on Google+, they should circle the company page first.

    Display the +1 button everywhere.

    Use your mailing list

Make sure that you promote your page off of Google+ with links, drive users to add you to circles and post regularly on your Google+ page and you may have a better chance of accessing Google+ Direct Connect.

VI. TARGETING YOUR AUDIENCE WITH YOUR GOOGLE+ PAGE

Google Plus makes it pretty easy to sort followers into groups (they call them Circles) and send targeted, relevant messages to these smaller audiences. Brands can create robust content calendars with posts intended just for certain cities, ages, gender and languages.

You get to separate your VIPs, Customers, Following, and Team Members into circles. Meaning you can market to just your VIP customers, just your Team members (think “collaboration” or team updates), your Customers, and then anyone you are Following (think prospect customers).

These are just the default circles, but you can target your audience the way you want it. Just ask your followers where they’re from, what they like and so on. The opportunities are limitless. And free of charge.

VII. USING HANGOUTS FOR YOUR GOOGLE+ PAGE

As previously suspected, they’ve recently integrated Google Docs for brand pages (Hangouts with extras)

As a brand page you have the ability to create Hangouts which can be huge to create that community and collaborate with your partners. It’s also a great way, especially for celebrities, to make that connection to their fans.

The “Hangouts with extras” feature has integrated Google Docs, allows you to name your Hangout, share notes and sketchpad, and allows screen sharing for total collaboration.

VIII. OPTIMIZING YOUR GOOGLE+ PAGE FOR SEO

    1. Page name, tagline, introduction, keywords
If you are branding your business, put that as your page name. Then add your tagline and about info using keywords you normally use. Your page name will be the title (see the name in the browser tab).Your page name + tagline will be the META description of the page which are important ranking factors

That means you should use keyword rich descriptions. That doesn’t mean you should use keyword stuffing, just name the page so it matches your site/business and write the tagline and introduction as you would write a description for your site – use keywords but write for people telling them what your page is about.

Fill out the “About” section completely. Be sure to mention your keywords in this section when you can. Like other SEO initiatives, be sure to focus on creating useful, engaging content first, then gently inserting keywords when appropriate as a secondary priority.

Be sure to add a link to your website (and other online assets) in your Recommended Links section. Because you can customize the anchor text, you can make these links extra SEO-friendly by including a keyword in the anchor text when appropriate.

Fill out as many of the fields as you can, and be sure to include various types of media (text, photos, video, etc.) so that search engines see a rich experience when they crawl your page.

    2. Tag images
You can tag images you add to your page, so for example, if you have a photo with some famous person in your industry, you can tag that person in your page’s photo.

    3. Cross promoting. Link to all of the social networks your brand has a presence. You can customize the name of the link as well.

Include a link to your Google+ Page from your corporate website and other assets such as your LinkedIn profile, your blog, and any other websites you have. Building links to your Google+ Page will help it rank on the first page for your brand name and possibly other keywords as well.

Additionally, your website itself should have +1 buttons. Make sure it is easy for people to “+1″ content and share it with their Circles on Google+.

    4. Consider creating multiple pages. You can create a page for each individual stores/franchises or line of products, as appropriate.

    5. Once your Page is ready to share, start building an audience. Search engines will recognize your popularity as a sign of authority. That authority will translate in to better rankings as well.

    6. When sharing photos. Upload photos, and include descriptions for each photo. Where feasible, add a link to a page on your website with more information on the product or item featured in the photo.

    7. When sharing videos. You can do the same for videos: upload videos and include transcripts or summaries of the video content for SEO purposes. Link back to your website for more information where you can.

    8. When sharing content. Unlike Twitter or Facebook, Google+ gives you the possibility to write very long messages if you want to. Publish content that your fans will find useful and engaging. When a long-form message is appropriate, try to optimize this content like you might optimize a blog post. Individual posts do get their own URL. So if a post goes viral, it is entirely possible that the post itself ranks well in the search engines.

IX. MEASURING STATISTICS FOR YOUR GOOGLE+ PAGE

    1. Using Ripples

    Ripples show you:
    * Number of public and total reshares
    * Names of each follower that reshared your post
    * Number of direct public reshares from each follower
    * Names with links, comments and relative time of most recent followers with reshares
    * A timeline to show the progression of the shares

    Things to look for:
    * Time of day that most reshares occur
    * Time of day that your biggest resharers repost. For example, if we were to look at several ripples and see that +Someone to post or repost around the same time each day, we could almost figure out the best times to get him to reshare stuff he likes (assuming he's following you).
    * How influential is your topic?
    - to which followers?
    - at what time of day?
    - to how many people?
    * Do resharers comments make a difference? Take a look at the right side and see if they added their own comments to the reshare or did the post stand on its own.
    * Were most of your reshares a result of a direct share from you or from reshares from other people?

    2. Using third-party websites

CircleCount.com allows you to list your Google+ Business Page in the CircleCount directory. They will show you a nice chart, track the number of new followers you get every day and show you the average numbers for your latest postings (comments, +1es, reshares per posting).

They will also show your CircleRank, a nice follower growth simulation on your profile and the most followed Google+ Pages at www.circlecount.com/pages/

Adding yourself to the SocialStatistics.com directory allows you to track your own Google+ profile or page, giving you follower’s statistics and chart. You can see the most followed Google+ Pages at http://socialstatistics.com/top/pages

HOW TO MAKE YOUR FRIENDS JOIN GOOGLE PLUS

I saw a lot of people complaining about the fact that their friends are not on Google Plus because they think it's boring. Well let me tell you something: Google Plus has now officialy 40million users, so if your friends are not here, YOU should do something! Here's what I recommend (and please share this to help other users too):

LATER EDIT: Show them the fastest way of understanding Google+: http://goo.gl/oPH3y (you should probably make the steps 1 to 4 before this)

    1. Make an interesting profile
How do you expect your friends to belive that Google Plus is interesting, when your profile doesn't look interesting? So... put up a cool profile photo that you have, some interesting scrapbook photos, some albums and complete your about section in a unique way. I'm sure you can do it!

    2. Make them understand Google Plus is really cool
Share interesting things publicly and invite your friends to see them. You have the internet at your fingertips. You can either look for other interesting Google Plus posts and share them, or you can google for funny / interesting / cool / useful / beautiful photos, articles, gifs or websites. You can share some cool YouTube videos or just StumbleUpon until you find something nice and share it publicly.

    3. Give them the advantages
Tell them that they can easily edit their posts, they can define and choose exactly who they share their information with and they can lock their posts if they want privacy. Tell them they can follow anyone they find to be interesting without that person feeling awkward because he/she doesn't know who your friend is.

Tell them they can make their own blog out of their profile even if they don't know anything about blogs. Tell them that Google Plus users are more active than other social websites users and your friend's interesting posts will be really appreciated by other users.

Tell them they won't be bombarded with advertisements on Google+ (which is a huge bonus). Even if they do eventually include ads down the road, most likely Google won’t be as much in your face about it.

Tell them that with Google+ comes the ability to easily integrate many great tools and features including Google TV, Maps, Android, Chrome, Docs, and Search.

    4. Facebook integration
Tell your friends they can get their facebook albums (How To Import Your Facebook Photos Into G+ - http://goo.gl/nXPqZ ) and facebook stream (How to add your facebook and twitter stream to g+ - http://goo.gl/wt6Bi ) over here as well.

    5. Give them connections
Now that you convinced them to sign up, you don't just stop here. If they don't follow anybody and just look at their own blank profile, of course they'll think Google Plus is boring. But Google Plus can be whatever you want, depending on what you share and what kind of people you circle. Give your friends some interesting / cool / useful / funny people or even better... circles. Once you give them a few interesting circles to follow, trust me... they're going to love Google Plus! If you don't know what people to recommend, look here for some shared circles: http://goo.gl/dCXzJ

    6. Guide them
Teach your friends how to use google plus. Now, this is very important. If they don't understand it, they probably won't like it. You know that usualy we're afraid of things that we don't understand.
Google plus tips and cheat sheets - (http://goo.gl/uGWCn )
    Google+ Guides & Tips For Newbies - (http://bit.ly/GP-newbies )

    7. Games
If they like browser games get them to play Angry Birds or other Google Plus games that you think they will like. Games are a lot of fun, but be careful though, you might make them addicted to this :)

    8. Hangouts
Start some hangouts and chat with your friends. The hangout is a priceless tool. You can join video conference hangouts with countless different groups of people. No matter what your topic of interest, you can bet there’s a hangout somewhere for it.

    9. Make them active
Show them how and tell them to post something publicly. Make them engage in conversation with the people they follow by leaving nice/smart/personal opinion comments on their posts. Once they'll get to actively communicate with others, your job it's done.

    10. Watch the magic happen!

    9. Measuring statistics for your Google+ Page
    10. Cool examples of Google+ pages.

    GOOGLE+ IT'S ALL ABOUT QUALITY

Let me show you how incredible Google+ really is. Yesterday I made a simple post for a faster understanding of Google+ that got extremelly viral and got 5000 shares in less than 24 hours: https://plus.google.com/u/0/106393478695568433143/posts/K2mCT7cSboj (video for Ripples - http://youtu.be/yF_hydqYj90)

Now keeping in mind that I'm not a popular one, having houndreds of thousands of followers (like +Larry Page, +Sergey Brin, +Vic Gundotra, +Robert Scoble and so on) the fact that my message was viewed by tens or hundreds of thousands of people... it's truly amazing! (They probably really liked the post since very influential users like +Natalie Villalobos, +Yonatan Zunger, +Victor Bezrukov and +Denis Labelle shared it. BTW, thanks again guys.)

AND WHAT'S THAT HAS TO DO WITH ME?

That depends on what are you using Google+ for. You might be a person that on the long run wants somehow to increase it's brand awareness, you might be an average user looking to keep in touch with friends/family, have fun and learn new things or you might use Google+ for education. Now let's take it one by one.

    I. THE AVERAGE USER

If you are an average user, using Google+ for keeping in touch with friends/family, have fun and learn new things, you should understand that

    1. The activity on Google+ is truly amazing!
    2. Google Plus is so much more interesting, entertaining and useful than any other social network.
    3. Google Plus has more than 40 million users
    4. Privacy settings are great!

For better understanding, read why I believe Google+ is better than Facebook here: https://plus.google.com/106393478695568433143/posts/iXxm2zta8gK.

Also, read how to make your friends join Google+ here: https://plus.google.com/106393478695568433143/posts/gxPbiuVxEEG and 10 Steps To Create An Awesome Google+ Profile http://www.almostsavvy.com/2011/08/16/10-steps-to-create-an-awesome-google-profile-how-to-plus/ (by +Irene Koehler)

    II. EVERY USER

Google+ is not just another social network. Google+ is an identity "platform" for Google and it's THE social network. As +Bradley Horowitz indicates, "right now you have separate profiles and logins for Blogger, Reader, YouTube and Gmail. That will soon end, to be replaced with a single account and a single login." http://venturebeat.com/2011/11/03/google-plus-is-not-a-social-network/ via +Tom Anderson.

IGNORE GOOGLE+ AT YOUR PERIL (by +Rebecca Davis)

    1. My friends aren’t in G+” is no excuse.
    2. +1 could fundamentally change the way we use the web.
    3. “Interest orientation” may make Google+ an ideal vehicle for thought leadership & social business.

    You should:

    1. Open your mind.
    2. Engage as an individual.
    3. Get clear on your company’s “interests.”
    4. Get creative
    5. Stay tuned. Google brand profiles are near on the horizon. This is where it gets interesting.

THE SMARTER SOCIAL NETWORK (by +Kristin Martonik)

    1. The collective intelligence of the growing Google+ user pool is astonishing
    2. G+ has attracted scores of brilliant people who likely had shunned previous social platforms
    3. G+ is the perfect balance for comfortably connecting with interesting people

WHY GOOGLE+ HAS BECOME MY PRIMARY SOCIAL NETWORK (by +Fernando Fonseca https://plus.google.com/u/0/107863796156749531232/posts/3UYMZrqhEpc)

    1. Ripples have shown beyond any doubt that users are using circles and that a lot of sharing and discussion happen within those.
    2. G+'s users are here to share and discuss and they actually engage. I never have experienced the amount of engagemen_t that my content generates here on Google+ and that, in a way, absolutely _inspires me to create more content, be that a short one liner or more in-depth posts like this one.
    3. Google+ has become not only my primary social network but also my canvas to produce new content that I then spread across other networks.
    4. Google+, in these few months, has brought me knowledge, food for thought, inspiration and also a great platform to keep in touch with friends and business associates and I can't wait for the new things that the Google+ team has in mind for all of us.
    5. The interaction that Google made possible with those that are developing, trouble-shooting, designing and managing Google's products here on G+ is nothing but unique. This democratization of access should be a case study to all social networks out there.

    DON'T BE EVIL (OR SNEAKY)

I love Google's motto "Don't Be Evil" (meaning you can make money without doing evil - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don't_be_evil) and how they plan to profit by not being sneaky but by adding transparency and putting users in control: http://www.datamation.com/networks/how-google-will-profit-by-not-being-sneaky-1.html - by +Mike Elgan

    III. USING GOOGLE+ FOR EDUCATION

Hangouts could be the new “Office Hours” - see the world's largest Google+ hangout with Stanford professors +Peter Norvig and Sebastian Thrun: https://plus.google.com/108640673873589796416/posts/ceBoZE4mURU via +Louis Gray.

    IV. GOOGLE+ FOR BRANDS

Very soon we'll see the long awaited Google+ Brand Pages as well. And the new ripples, Google apps availability, What's hot section and the hangouts with extras are features that will bring social conversion to the next level for Google Plus business pages and also more possibilities on Google+ to teach, learn, work, and play. (https://plus.google.com/u/0/106393478695568433143/posts/KawvKy4KGSS)

As I was saying in other posts, your influence is very important if you want to increase your brand awareness and measuring statistics, conversions and influence it's very important for somebody willing to increase it's brand awareness.

Best time to post on Google+ https://plus.google.com/u/0/106393478695568433143/posts/cw5SFy6jyWd,
    reaching your audience easier https://plus.google.com/106393478695568433143/posts/S1W9Cn8Zcic

and Social Media Analytics for G+ https://plus.google.com/u/0/105279625231358353479/posts/RuKgeRQH4wz
are things that can not be ignored.

    CONCLUSION

Not only that Google+ it's already great, but it becomes better and better, the Google+ team rolling out new features on a consistent basis. What I also love about Google+ is that everybody is free to give feedback like I did in the post "Introducing filters for a better What's hot section" https://plus.google.com/u/0/106393478695568433143/posts/6w4eHzuoEbk

I could go on and talk about Google+ for days, but this post got really big already. What I'm actually trying to say is that Google+ is not just another social network... Google+ is the future!

Whether you like it or not, Google+ it's still all about quality, it still grows exponentially, it still is extremelly useful and entertaining and it still gets more and more activity every day!

Love it, preach it, share it!

PS: If you want to share your thoughts with me on this one, please comment on the original post: http://goo.gl/JucUN And don't forget to share it.

HOW TO REMOVE "WHAT'S HOT" FROM YOUR MAINSTREAM

Since the new What's hot section was released, I've seen a lot of people complaining about it. Some "feel like being spammed, it looks like a Facebook ripoff... and I left Facebook to avoid this crap", some are trying to "avoide it like the plague".

Others say "'What's Hot' contains all of the stuff I am trying to avoid while on Google+" and "why do i have to see a stupid animated gif of a cat attacking a child [...], and I cant remove it or mute it" so most of them want to switch off "What's hot" altogether.

Personally, I like the idea of having a What's hot section, but this has to be totally unobtrusive and unintrusive. So having the What's hot tab on the left it's all right. But it shouldn't appear in our mainstream unless we opt-in for that. And filters would be very helpful for us: "Introducing filters for a better What's hot section" - http://goo.gl/gAwLi

SO HOW DO I REMOVE IT?

First, you go and download the Adblock extension/add-on for Chrome: http://goo.gl/lYZTA or for Firefox: http://goo.gl/0RrQ9. For Safari see +christopher rizzo's post: http://goo.gl/6lLUJ

Second, as +Michael Richter taught me... You go to the extention's/add-on's options and you add two new filters:

    1. plus.google.com##DIV[class="zhMuaf Tp6dle"]
    2. A[class="a-j c-i-j-ua tg3b4c qQWXrb g2Lc3b dfrbjb"]

For chrome, you can manually edit your filters on the Customize tab. For Firefox, you simply click the Add filter button and paste the codes.

There you go! No more What's hot in the main stream! You can always remove the filters if you change your mind, or go to the What's hot tab on the left.

"Of course there's always the risk that Google changes the class ID for the elements in question, but if they do it's a pretty quick process to block them again.

Next time Google... provide an off switch. It's like you learnt nothing from the Buzz fiasco at all." - +Michael Richter. Thanks Michael for teaching me how to turn it off.

UnOfficial - GOOGLE+ HITS 100 MILLION USERS IN THE FIRST 7 MONTHS

Stats emerge that show Google+ could have over 100m users already, posing a huge threat to competing social networks. +Thomas Morffew explains in a bit more detail....

Google+ reached 20 Million Unique Monthly Visitors

According to Compete and http://itsallabouttech.com/2012/01/google-reached-20-million-daily-unique-visitors-facebook-still-tops-with-171-million-unique-visitors/ Google+ seems to show the fastest growth among the giants with 20 Million Unique Monthly Visitors and if we compare the next stats, we can take a guess at Google+'s User numbers. (via +Denis Labelle)

    Google+ - 20 Million Monthly Unique Visitors - 100+ million users (estimation)
LinkedIn - 24 Million Monthly Unique Visitors - 135 million users (confirmed)
Twitter - 40.4 Million Monthly Unique Visitors - 300+ million users (confirmed)
Facebook - 171.5 Million Monthly Unique Visitors - 800 millon users (confirmed)

As of 3rd of November 2011, LinkedIn reports more than 135 million registered users and has 24 million monthly uniques according to the above data, so all things being equal, we can then estimate that with 20 million monthly unique visitors, Google+ has about 100 million users already or it's very close to this data. There are people like +Max Huijgen who believe Google+ has already 150 million users (https://plus.google.com/112352920206354603958/posts/fr5jqg3HVZ6).

+Paul Allen told us that Google+ Growth is accelerating and it's adding 625,000 new users per day. He also predicts that Google+ will have 400 million users by end of 2012 (https://plus.google.com/u/0/117388252776312694644/posts/ZcPA5ztMZaj), but until Google gives us the official numbers, we can only make estimations.

18 BIG GOOGLE PLUS CHANGES - That users want to see

These are some of the most important google plus features (in no particular order) that we're all waiting for (pictures included). If you have some other features that you would like to see, leave a comment on the original post: https://plus.google.com/106393478695568433143/posts/LfnmU8pSxwQ.
+1 and share this post if these changes are important to you. This way, it will most likely get heard by Google.

    01. Google Docs integration - This is quite popular, a lot of users want to share documents or question to their friends
    02. Polls - I've also seen a lot of people asking for this. Until we have something official from google, we can do a workaround. It's explained in detail here: https://plus.google.com/106393478695568433143/posts/hED2taVzQGg
    03. Shorter, customized link. - We would like to have a customized link, much shorter. Maybe something like plus.google.com/myName or google.com/name or even name.google.com Until then, we can use this third party websites for that: https://plus.google.com/106393478695568433143/posts/E7Lv2pvDefv
    04. Google+ Analytics - People like numbers, they want to know how many views, visitors, +1s, comments and shares they have on their account.
    05. Google+ Widgets - I find this very useful... I'd like to be able to add Follow me by e-mail / RSS widgets, or even a searchbox for my g+ posts, a slideshow and so on...
    06. Featured Posts - I would like to show my followers the posts that I think are the most useful for them.
    07. Popular Posts - Followers should see the most +1ed, shared, and/or commented posts if the account owner wants that.
    08. Posts Archive - The Google accounts are getting bigger and bigger and it takes me a lot of time to search for some interesting posts that I want to show to my new followers and I would also like to "jump" to some other friends posts too... without having to scroll that much.
    09. Video Page - Right now you can see all of your images, but you can not see a history of the videos that you posted
    10. Social Integration - We want to save time and share our posts to multiple places all at once.
    11. Find People Based On Location And Other Filters You probably want to find some ex-collegues, neighbours, or your exes.
    12. Substract Circles or People - Sometimes you want to share something to the public, but you don't want your boss or mom to see that.
    13. Pause Stream - If you're following a lot of active people, this is very useful for you. Sometimes you're looking at a video/picture or reading something directly from the stream, but it keeps going down because other posts are coming through
    14. Nested Circles and Circle Merging - You decided to merge two circles or you want inception. Circles within circles.
    15. Change Picture When You Share a Link - Sometimes we want to add our own pictures/videos when we share a link.
    16. Post From Profile - You look a lot on your profile and you don't like to always come back to the home page when you want to share something new.
    17. Hide circles - If you have dozens of circles like I do, you need this. Some people are more active than others and you don't want to see only their posts.
    18. Google+ Bussines Pages - This is probably the most awaited one.

Later edit: Hopefully +Natalie Villalobos will see this too... This post got +Natalie Villalobos attention and she left us a comment. That's great!

    GOOGLE+ MARKETING "HOW TO" ADVICE

Tuesday I've been in a hangout on air talking about this subject with +Mike Elgan, +Chris Lang, +Brock Predovich & +Yifat Cohen hosted by +G+Decoded: Google+ Marketing Made Easy

It was a very interesting hangout and Mike had so many great points! You can see the recording here: http://gplusdecoded.com/2012/02/15/plustalks-episode-3-google-marketing-how-to-advice/

Because time didn't allow us, we did skip some important things. Here are a few ones that I also wanted to talk about:

    Why Social Media by websuccessdiva.com/blog/seo-or-social-media-eitheror-nonsense/

    1. Social Media builds community and engagement, which results in greater link building as content gets shared (the viral effect)
    2. Social sharing presents opportunities for user generated links that are valuable in your SEO campaign off and on your owned properties
    3. Social Media research contributes to greater understanding and insight for SEO research, improving the foundation of your campaigns
    4. Increased social and SEO results leverage each other for greater visibility across social and search networks
    5. Increased dual visibility increases subscribers, readers, content consumers, and ultimately targeted traffic contributing to even greater results across both
    6. Search has (and will continue to) increase integration of social personalization from a users social connections, increasing opportunities for search positioning

    Why use Google+ for Marketing

The new ripples, Google apps availability, What's hot section and the hangouts with extras are features that bring social conversion to the next level for Google Plus business pages and also more possibilities on Google+ to teach, learn, work, and play.

FACTORS TO CONSIDER WHEN POSTING: mediatapper.com/best-time-to-share-on-google-plus/
(as +Miguel Rodriguez said on +Media Tapper)

    1. Time of the day when your target interest group is most active
    2. The post “Time to live”. How the amount of comments and re-shares is distributed across the post life
    3. Day of the week. People are more active over the weekends on social sites.
    4. How many posts you make per day.

    Statistics
    1. Your Follower Map -http://www.circlecount.com/mymap/ by +CircleCount & +Daniel Sandstein
    2. Public Circles Database -publiccircles.appspot.com/incircles by +Siegfried Hirsch
    3. Ripples
    4. Average response per post (depending on the weekday/hour of the post) -
    www.circlecount.com, www.allmyplus.com, www.googleplussuomi.com by +Avinash Kaushik

Finding the right balance of social interaction and commercial promotion is critical in creating that connection, positively affecting other marketing initiatives such as SEO, and ultimately generating the next sale. www.mashable.com

    Google+ and SEO

Content shared by businesses and brands via Google+ is becoming more and more prevalent in search, in effect making an impact on overall search engine optimization (SEO) efforts. (Social Media + SEO = Leverage!)

    1. Even Signed Out, Google+ Suggestions Offered
    2. You have to be on Google+ to be a suggestion

GOOGLE'S SUPERIOR SEO STRATEGY by +Cyrus Shepard www.seomoz.org/blog/google-plus-seo

Google wins by employing really smart Search Engine Optimization techniques – the same SEO practices available to any online business.

    1. Incentivize Inbound Links
Google started displaying author photos in its search results. In order to display a photo, Google asks authors to add links from their webpages to their Google+ profile.

    2. Internal Linking
One thing noted about Google+ when it was released was just how easy it was to be in lots of circles, or add lots of people to your own. People who struggled on Twitter for years to build up 1000 followers, suddenly found themselves in 2000 or 3000 Google+ circles, seemingly overnight.

    3. Lots of Indexable Content
Google structures content to provide a wealth of information for search engines, to index and serve in search results. Compare: Facebook – 275 Words, Twitter – 491 Words, Google+ – 2621 Words

    4. On-Page Optimization
Google+ makes it easy to share posts from others – a feature much like retweeting on Twitter or reblogging on Tumblr. These Google+ posts frequently show up in search results as their own entries. Also, Google wisely choose longer, more descriptive title tags.

    5. User Generated Content
Every public post is crawled and indexed by Google search

    6. Show Google+ Author Profiles in Search Results
The first 5 items on this list represent SEO tactics that anyone can use, but in a way #6 belongs to Google alone. By linking to Google+ profiles in search results, they create an advantage that no other social media service can duplicate.

    GOOGLE+ and SEO - a guide by +AJ Kohn https://plus.google.com/106393478695568433143/posts/KDaYi3C5G95

    Creative ways of using Google+

    1. Bookmarking websites
    2. Blogging platform - fast, easy, formattable and search engine optimized
    3. Client Meetup Over Hangouts
    4. Recruitment Interviews On Hangouts - organize a group discussion of up 20 people using hangouts

Google Will Have 490 Million Users Ready To Move To Google+ on March 1 (an interesting comment +charles vaz left on one of my posts)

"The unified merge has a bigger business reason - to tackle Facebook's 800 million strong user-base! Google+ will effectively almost have at least 490 million users ready to move to Google+ on March 1.

When all the Google sites merge - the google accounts would all be almost folded into 1 google+ account per user account!

So definitely all those guys with YouTube accounts for which Google already paid $1.65 Billion would almost automatically have google+ accounts
    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/15196982/ns/business-us_business/t/google-buys-youtube-billion/

So, It's gonna be magical on March 1st for Google+ - 490 million unique users from YouTube would almost automatically jump into Google+ and assuming that is a superset of all existing Google+ users today - Google+ will effectively have close to 490 million users almost automatically on March 1.

So effectively all those facebook users posting YouTube videos on Facebook would automatically have Google+ accounts! http://mashable.com/2011/02/19/youtube-facts/

When the user's log in brings the user directly to a toolbar with google+ nearby - its at the doorstep. Google is free so Google+ can just use the single sign on to call these users as Google unified users - albeit whatever the service the user actually uses.

Remember at the end of Dec 2011 - Google+ had only 62 million users. So this is definitely a huge step in the right direction! http://mashable.com/2011/12/27/google-plus-62m-users/ " - +charles vaz

Let's remember that Google+ has now more than 100million users https://plus.google.com/106393478695568433143/posts/iyTokvGSzw7

and the number of Google+ fans for the site's top 100 brands grew at a 1,400% pace last month seeing an increase of 3.1 million in their circles

HOW TO IMPORT YOUR FACEBOOK PHOTOS INTO GOOGLE PLUS

If you want to move your whole albums (or some of the pictures) you have on Facebook to Google Plus, there's a very easy way to do this.

First, you go in the chrome web store and download the Move Your Photos chrome extension - http://goo.gl/XujYF - which exports your facebook photos to picasa. You select which photos and albums you want to import and then you go either to Picasa or to your Google Plus Albums and share whichever photo albums you want with your followers. As simple as that. Please share this to help other google plus users as well.

Unfortunatelly, I didn't include this Chrome extension in the post

5 CREATIVE WAYS OF USING GOOGLE PLUS

    1. Bookmarking websites

You can save bookmarks and organize them really simple with google plus and have them anywere and i'm not talking about +1-ing websites.

You can do that too, but if you don't want other people to see your bookmarks and you also want to organize them, there's a better way.

Just make an new circle. This will be an empty circle and here you will share links with yourself. Nobody will see what your sharing, and you can name it the way you want.

For example... food recipies. Now just make more empty circles for every interest that you have. They will serve you like bookmark folders.

When you'll want to go back to your it news links or anything else, you will look in that circle. Simple, right? Plus you'll have the bookmarks anywhere, and you will be able to share them with your friends by adding them to that circle.

    2. Blogging platform

Why Google+ Can Be Used for Blogging Purposes:

    a. It’s Fast - you can post real fast

    b. It’s Formattable - on Google+, you can bold, italic or strikethrough your text anytime you want
Wrap up your text with asterisks (*) for bold, underscores (_) for italic and hyphens (-) for strikethrough. And there you are! Your text has been nicely formatted.
For a blog post, at least bold and italic are important formatting options. So, in this case, Facebook is not an option.

    c. It’s SEO’d - it’s already optimized for Search Engine especially Google.Google+ posts will be more visible on Google search results for Google’s very own interest.
So, right from the start, you know that you’re getting indexed! It’s a big point in my opinion.

    d. It’s Reshareable - This comes in handy for those that are already on Google+. If they like it enough, they can actually reshare it on their circles (and with a chrome extension, on any social networking site including Facebook and Twitter). This eventually drives you more traffic without any doubt.

    3. Celebrating Birthdays

You are having birthday of your kid and some of family members are not around. Its an inexplicable emotional feeling to see your loved one’s face at his/her birthday.

Through Google+ Hangouts other members who are not present and are on different places, can enjoy those moments of celebration.

    4. Client Meetup Over Hangouts

Skype is a great tool to have professional remote meetings but it has its own limitations in terms of group meetings. Try Google Plus Hangout for a client meetup.

You can feel it a bit unprofessional but its OK after all you are there to work and that too more efficiently, not to show off.

    5. Recruitment Interviews On Hangouts

This is something that could be interesting for some. In those cases where applicant is in another city and for interview he has to travel long or you have to organize a group discussion of 8-9 people to get an idea about who is best among them, you can use Google+ Hangouts.

DO YOU WANT GOOGLE+ TO ALLOW UNDERAGE USERS? (POLL)
(If this is a reshare, please answer the poll on the original post: http://goo.gl/s3Dng)

"Google plans to open up Google+ to all users over the ages of 13 after proper safety features are added." - Wikipedia

This is just a very simple poll to ask you if you would like Google Plus to allow users between 13-18 years old. You can answer the poll by +1ing the yes or the no comment. (please DO NOT +1 them both!). Also, if you want to reshare this, please disable comments!

So, here you go... do you want Google+ to allow underage users?
(Poll made on request by +Laurence Hubbard. FYI +James Carpenter)

HOW TO FIND THE MOST INTERESTING PEOPLE ON GOOGLE+

Now... we all know that if somebody has a lot of followers, that doesn't necessarily mean that his or her posts will also interest YOU. And besides this, there are a lot of interesting Google+ users out there that could bring a lot of value to you, but they don't have so many followers. So, how do you find them? Here are some easy steps to find exactly what interests YOU the most!

    1. ADD SOME CIRCLES OF YOUR INTEREST
For that, you have two options. First option is you go to http://goo.gl/PEqsM. There you'll find the Google+ Shared Circles Database started by +Chris Porter that has over 400 circles shared on Google+ (50,000 names). Add just the circles that are in a category that interests you.

The second option is to go on a google+ directory and look in the categories or locations that interests you. I talk more about some directories here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/106393478695568433143/posts/a82Fw1dgzzL

To add lots of people in your circles from google+ directories with just one click using Circle+ read this: https://plus.google.com/u/0/106393478695568433143/posts/1pXAzjTohXu

    2. UNFOLLOW INACTIVE USERS
For that, you can use a chrome extension, called Uncircle+ made by +Ehsan Ahmadi Gharacheh. I talk more about it here: https://plus.google.com/u/0/106393478695568433143/posts/P581zSCQ5Sm

    3. EXCLUDE NOISY PEOPLE
If you have noisy people that post very often and sometimes you don't want to see their posts, you can add them to a special circle called "noisy people" and exclude that circle from your mainstream using an extension.

This way, you won't see their posts any more. When you want to see their posts again, just include them back or take a look at that specific circle. I talk more about how to exclude circles from your mainstream using Plus Minus here: https://plus.google.com/106393478695568433143/posts/jN9eoucKvDw

    4. MAKE DOZENS OF VALUABLE CONNECTIONS
For that you can use the Gather, Rinse, And Repeat method by +Dustin W. Stout which goes like this:

    a. Start by following people who you believe to be “Thought Leaders“. You can find them through the google plus directories that I gave you and place them in a circle that is labeled accordingly.

    b. Throughout the day visit the stream for this circle looking for interesting posts. When you find something interesting, leave a comment or +1 the post.

    c. Circle everyone who +1′d, or commented on that same post easily using the Circle+ extension that I gave to you earlier. The circle you place them into is a temporary one that serves as a trial period.

The circle will only be active for a week, if anyone from that circle comments on one of your posts, or makes a solid connection with you, they will then get placed into one of your permanent circles. This is the gather phase.

    d. At the end of the week, you delete the temporary circle. Anyone who has not been actively engaged, or never made a connection with you is removed from your circles entirely, and the others are safe in one of your permanent circles. You have effectively “rinsed” your circles.

    e. Repeat. Just keep doing it on a week to week basis, and you will be constantly finding new, interesting people!

Read more about this method or other Google Plus Tutorials from Dustin here: http://www.gplustuts.com/find-valuable-connections-on-google-plus/

INTRODUCING FILTERS FOR A BETTER WHAT'S HOT SECTION
(and for better search on Google+)

Few days ago, +Yonatan Zunger announced the new What's hot section in Google Plus: http://goo.gl/Nx7dg. Since then, I've seen some interesting reactions to this subject.

+Michael van der Galien writes on mediatapper that "the most popular posts… were absolutely useless. It’s one ridiculous gif after another, followed by one or more very unfunny jokes" and that "We need some way to filter 'What’s Hot' " (article here: http://goo.gl/Q76kj) and I absolutely agree on that one.

+Karin Nelson said "'What's Hot' contains all of the stuff I am trying to avoid while on Google+". Her post here: http://goo.gl/ZODLq, whereas +Jeremiah Owyang said "it is an interesting mix of multimedia: Animated Gifs, interesting stories, and a few videos." His post here: http://goo.gl/i3UxC

+Chris Lang said that What's Hot "favors voting, not breaking news. To get that, I have to scroll down the page a mile". His suggestion is to get "Most Recent" on the Hot page like we now have in search. His post here: http://goo.gl/vFYPN

    ABOUT THE FILTERS

So my idea on filters looks like this: when somebody makes a post, it can choose a post category (for example funny, news, useful, cool, music, beautiful, etc.) and in the What's hot section to have 3 ways of filtering the information:

    1. By type of post - choose what's hot in photos, gifs, albums, videos, links or articles.
    2. By category that poster choosed - funny, news, useful, cool, music, beautiful
    3. By who posted it - your circles, extended circles, public(or not in your circles) and choose circles.

The same idea of filters can be used for the search section on Google+.

Feel free to give some feedback on the original post: http://goo.gl/NWdE8. What's your opinion about the What's hot section? What kind of filters would you like to have? Let's also see what +Yonatan Zunger and +Louis Gray say about this.

Why Google+ will become Google's only product
some very interesting thoughts from +Mike Elgan

If you're using +1s, Maps, Search, Chrome apps, Chrome, Reader, YouTube, Google Music, News, Translate, Gmail or Contacts, congratulations: You're one of the more than 1 billion people who use Google+ every month.

The clear trend is the integration of an increasing number of Google products into Google+ -- currently happening at the rate of one new integration every two weeks -- and also an increasing degree of integration for those previously brought in.

What Google will integrate in the future: Just about everything

Google will not only complete the 12 products it has already started to integrate, but it will fully integrate other products, like Google Earth, Blogger, Calendar, Docs, Latitude, Wallet, Product Search, Books, Voice, Places and others.

Google has demonstrated that existing social products are to be replaced by Google+ -- in fact most of them already have been. Google+ is the "product," and everything else Google does is to become a "feature" of that product.

Why Google will win the war with Facebook

As Google integrates every major product increasingly into Google+, those products become features, and Google+ becomes the Google product.

Right now, Google+ is viewed as a young and immature "startup" competing against the mighty Facebook. But as Google transforms one powerful Google product after another into Google+ features, Facebook will increasingly struggle to compete.

IS GOOGLE PLUS BETTER THAN FACEBOOK OR NOT?
(if you want to criticize this, please do it on the original post: http://goo.gl/FZ4me)

I still see people talking about Facebook being better than Google Plus and saying that the traffic on Google Plus went down by 60% because G+ is boring and their friends are not here.

Well, let me point some things to you:
    1. I must say that the activity on Google+ is truly amazing! I get so many reactions... (+1es, comments and shares) I didn't even dream about this: last week I made a post called "Top 25 Most Popular Chrome Extensions And Apps For Google Plus" - http://goo.gl/X8bA5 and it got more than 1200 shares even though I had only about 3000 followers... That means that literally tens of thousands of people saw my post! If I post something on Facebook is like nobody's there to see my work...

    2. Google Plus is so much more interesting, entertaining and useful than Facebook. Also (because of the large thumbnails and the full screen lightbox we have here) sharing photos, videos or albums is such a great experience. If you didn't find Google+ interesting yet, it means you've just probably didn't circle enough active people. But you can do this: go on https://plus.google.com/s/shared%20a%20circle and add some circles that you find of your interests. However, if you want to see if your ex-girl/boy-friend or ex-collegues got poor, stupid, fatter or uglyer... just stay on Facebook. If you want ShityVille notifications everyday from some emo kids or people you hated in school... just stay on Facebook.

If you're tired of getting spammed and you want interesting and useful advices, cool videos, beautiful pictures, funny gifs, most recent and important news, really valuable content and creative people... come here. On Google Plus people can discuss topics they disagree on without getting defensive. Here celebrities (entertainment or intellectual) are actually people, you get to really talk to them and you get to know them.

    3. Google Plus has almost 60 million users 40 million users (shows the official statistics) gathered in only 3 months (it took Facebook more than 3 years to do this...), so if you're friends are not here yet... do something about it. Post some nice things and invite them over here... Tell them they can get their facebook albums (How To Import Your Facebook Photos Into G+ - http://goo.gl/nXPqZ ) and facebook stream (How to add your facebook and twitter stream to g+ - http://goo.gl/wt6Bi ) over here as well.

    4. How can people say that there's no activity on Google+ when I can see that on my Facebook account there's less activity than I was seeing here when I had only a few houndred people in my circles despite the fact I have about 2.000 friends on Facebook... There's great activity on Google+, but if you think Google+ is just a "whitewashed Facebook", just stay there and get all that commercials, shitville spam and a lot of notifications from groups that you didn't even signed up for.

    5. If you really believe the traffic on Google+ is down... you should just realize that "Google+ was invite only. On the day they opened the floodgates to the public, traffic immediately spiked by 1,269%. These new people were mostly enthusiastic new users. But a minority was tire-kickers who didn't stick around.

When the dust cleared, total traffic was nearly FIVE times higher than before the doors opened. But the Sunday Mail reported it as a 60% drop from the peak on day one of public beta."

    6. Also.. it took me about 3 months to get almost 5.000 followers on G+ , but it took me a year to get 2.000 friends on facebook (and it would've took me forever if I wouldn't approach people myself to add them as friends. There's no need on g+ to do that any more. I just circled some interesting people that I liked, and that's all. Now I get - by also being active - about 150-200 followers on a daily basis)

    7. Not to talk about the facebook privacy issues that they have...

"Did you know that every person that you have ever defriended on Facebook has been recorded, including the time and day?
Did you know that every event that you were invited to has been recorded within Facebook, including whether or not you accepted the invitation?
Did you know that every single poke, every one of them, and by whom, is in the Facebook database?" (read the article from http://mediatapper.com here: http://goo.gl/4ake8)

Listen Facebook.. I don't like other people decide for my things, thoughts or data if they're private or not. It's my right to decide myself!

    8. Yes... Google Plus is not perfect... it has some missing things that we're all waiting for... (18 Big Google Plus Changes That Users Want To See - http://goo.gl/sDAxD ) , however even if I still use Facebook as well... I find Google Plus to be so much better than Facebook. But that's maybe just my opinion... What do you think? (and please leave me the comment on the original post: http://goo.gl/FZ4me)

HOW TO IMPORT YOUR FACEBOOK PHOTOS INTO GOOGLE PLUS

If you want to move your whole albums (or some of the pictures) you have on Facebook to Google Plus, there's a very easy way to do this.

First, you go in the chrome web store and download the Move Your Photos chrome extension - which exports your facebook photos to picasa. You select which photos and albums you want to import and then you go either to Picasa or to your Google Plus Albums and share whichever photo albums you want with your circles. As simple as that. Share this to help other g+ users.

Here is the link to the Move Your Photos chrome extension: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/idiebfmmkhaffedkhjhapmagabcadjhc

HOW TO INSTALL THE NEW GOOGLE BAR (via +Cora Triton)

+Maximilian Majewski just taught me how to install the new Google bar for chrome. After trying and failing to do it on firefox as well, I had to come back and ask him how to, so let me give you both versions. All credit goes to +Maximilian Majewski for discovering this, go ahead and circle him.

Get the Google Bar on Chrome

    1. Go get this extension to change cookies. http://goo.gl/CeKtT
    2. Load Google.com and right-click to edit the cookies.
    3. Change "PREF" to this:
    ID=03fd476a699d6487:U=88e8716486ff1e5d:FF=0:LD=en:CR=2:TM=1322688084:LM=1322688085:S=McEsyvcXKMiVfGds
    4. Don't forget to save your changes at the bottom.
    5. Reload and you have the new Google bar.

Get the Google Bar on Firefox

    1. press Ctrl + Shift + K
    2. Once you have opened the console, copy and paste the following code into the command line and press enter:

    document.cookie="PREF=ID=03fd476a699d6487:U=88e8716486ff1e5d:FF=0:LD=en:CR=2:TM=1322688084:LM=1322688085:S=McEsyvcXKMiVfGds; domain=.google.com; path=/; exprie=" + (new Date("2013-12-1")).toUTCString()

Again, thanks a lot +Maximilian Majewski for this hacks and +Cora Triton for taking me to Max!

Get the Google Bar on Safari, Internet Explorer 8+, Firefox or Chrome without extension: http://googlesystem.blogspot.com/2011/11/how-to-try-googles-new-navigation-menu.html (but for some it doesn't seem to work without the extension, so try the other versions first) Thanks to +Joe Chahoud for this version.

BEST GOOGLE PLUS PLUGINS FOR WORDPRESS

These are the best wordpress plugins dedicated to google plus that I found so far. I hope I didn't miss other important ones, but if I did... just leave me a comment on the original post: http://goo.gl/FKz5p. Please share this to help the g+ community.

    1. Google+Blog - http://goo.gl/ILvbJ
Automatically crosspost your Google+ posts to your wordpress blog
How to setup Google+Blog plugin: http://goo.gl/Ge1aV

    2b. GoogleCards - http://goo.gl/SbDvZ
Adds a google+ widget for linking to your google+ profile and showing your number of followers. Very easy to use. Upon activating the plugin, you’ll have a new widget available in your Appearance – Widgets section. You can drop that widget into a sidebar of yours, specify a title and your Google Plus profile ID. You’ll end up with a neat card displaying your name, avatar and the amount of circles you’ve been listed in.

    2c. Scriptrr Google+ Profile - http://goo.gl/2mP0e
Allows users to add a widget on their blog or website to invite visitors to new Google + Profile. Very easy to install and can be customized for color and width.

    3a. Google +1 Button - http://goo.gl/2uUBO
Easily add Google’s +1 button to your posts and pages, single or lists. Has a choice of multiple languages, placement locations and button sizes, as well as whether to display the +1 count or not.

The plugin comes equipped with a function that you can use inside your theme for manual placement and even a shortcode that you can use inside your posts and pages.

    3b. WP PlusOne This - http://goo.gl/lQzb0
Similar to the plugin above but requires no configuration at all. Simply install and activate the plugin and you’ll get Google’s +1 button on every post and page on your blog. You can specify further positioning of the button via CSS.

    3c. Plus One - http://goo.gl/dwga9
This plugin not only adds the +1 button to your posts and pages, but also gives you a page full of settings including advanced ones, like JS callbacks and the HTML code for the button placement. Very neat for advanced users and those who’re really picky about where, how and why the button should be placed.

GOOGLE PLUS TIPS AND CHEAT SHEET
(also included: All Google Services Cheatsheet)

Besides the Google Plus tips that most of you know (shown also in the second picture), +Tom Anderson just unveiled us one more: when scrolling down on a page in Google+, click the black menu bar at the top of the screen to instantly return to the top of your page.

If you're an all-keyboard guy, clicking "Home" and "End" will take you to the top or bottom of the page as welll (at least in Chrome)

KEYBOARD SHORTCUTS (HOTKEYS) - That some of you know

j: In the stream, you can click ‘j’ to navigate down to the next item
    k: Navigate up.
@ or +: mention someone in a post
q: While on the Home tab, press twice the q letter on the keyboard to search and add people to your chat list.
    Space Bar: Scroll down stream.
Shift + Space Bar: Scroll up stream.
Tab: Scrolls through comments/users on a post
Enter: Hitting Enter when focused on a Post opens up the comment box.
    Tab + Enter: End comment.

TIPS THAT MOST OF US USE:

    * word * = word
    _ word _ = word
    - word - = word
    (but without spaces)

To download one of the cheat sheets, click on the photo to go to the lightbox, click on actions and then on download photo.

THE THREE AMIGOS: SOCIAL MEDIA, SEO & SMARTPHONES

In today’s world, we are no more rooted to our computer for staying connected. This is largely because of the advent of smart phone and mobile apps.

A cell phone is now more than an instrument to make or receive calls. It is now your desktop on the GO and has enabled social media on the GO. (read more about social media on the go here http://goo.gl/yIIdC)

    SOCIAL MEDIA & SEO

According to a study by GroupM Search, 48% of the online buyers use combination of normal and social search during the buying process and the percentage is increasing constantly.

Consumers search every day brands their friends know and like, and 30% base their buying decision on their friends’ evaluations.

The quantity of Smartphones and users accessing Internet through mobile devices is increasing fast around the globe and ITU believes mobile devices will surpass computers as the most popular way to connect Internet within five years.

According to Strategy Analytics almost 530 million users used the mobile Web at the end of 2009 and the company estimates the browsing to increase to over 1 billion by 2015.

Bringing social dimension to mobile search can be the next big thing if it is user friendly and well promoted. (read more about social media & seo here http://goo.gl/xvqHN)

Social media campaigns & creating brand value on mobile devices

Fine tuning marketing strategy for smartphones

Social networking has become the fastest-growing activity on mobile devices. Brands must spot the trend and take this noticeable shift into account while devising their strategies.

Getting a fair idea of consumer mindset

By combining activity, location and time, the three key mobile data types, marketers can get a fair idea of consumer mindset, one also taking into account their shifting priorities and personas. Smartphone Market and The Social Media View

There is some interesting analysis that can be drawn when we start to layer social media data with sales data.

The big questions remain about how this data can be used to create models, predict future outcomes, and make business decisions as the data comes in. (read more about the smartphone market and the social media view http://goo.gl/3A9db)
