Just flashed another ICS ROM (CM9 kang) on my kindle fire. Seems to work pretty well compared to others I've tried. Worst problem I could find was that HD video is not yet working. Here is the link if anyone wants to give it a try.

Share this post with your friends. 2. Grab your copy here: http://bit.ly/NUJGNP 3. Comment on this post after you have read the book, let everyone know what you think of it. Hope you enjoy this book. Much work has gone into upgrading it, with many more pages, diagrams and photos. Why? Because of all the valuable feedback I have received from google+, I have re-written this book in easy-to-understand English, and now I think it explains photography much better than anything I have ever read. I would also like some honest feedback that I can use for when this book goes on sale (soon), and I want to be the person you think of when you want photography training. Please comment on the blog, or send me an email (with your picture) that I can use as testimonials. Have a great day. Brent
RESHARE: An update to Energy ROM was posted today for you kindle fire users. The update supposedly greatly improves the ROM battery life. Hardware Acceleration still does not work so still no HD video.

So after trying this ROM out for a day I have to say I am impressed. It is the most stable ICS ROM I've tried on the kindle so far. There are only a couple problems with it currently.
1. No hardware acceleration. Basically nothing graphics intensive will work properly such as high-def video or certain games. For the most part this hasn't negatively impacted my experience while using the ROM. There are no ICS ROMS for the kindle that have HWA working right now anyway. 2. Battery life is not that fantastic. CM7 had much better life.
Other than these two issues the ROM is relatively bug free, which is saying alot for an ICS ROM. I am going to continue using this as my daily as the ICS benefits for the tablet outweigh the drawbacks.

Is Google Censoring Free Speech? Several weeks ago, +Google was instrumental in thwarting one of the biggest threats ever to our freedom of speech. 4.5 million People signed Google’s petition to stop SOPA and PIPA and at least for the time being, congress listened. What you may not realize however is that around the same time, Google itself was removing a key feature that allowed us “little people” a chance to have our voices heard. A lot of you probably didn’t even know that this was done since the “Incoming Stream” was not a feature that stood out within the +Google+ application, however the potential that this little tool had was quite enormous.
Chances are you don’t know anything about me, and really why would you care to? I have never proven myself to be an individual worth circling, maybe that is until now. The thing is, I have a lot to talk about, but how are you supposed to ever hear what I’m saying? Even now it feels as if I’m yelling into an empty cave, hearing only my own voice echoing back at me.
The Incoming Stream helped to solve this problem. If you were in my circles but I not in yours, you would still have the opportunity to read this post through incoming. This gave me the opportunity to reach the people whose content I’m interested in and perhaps to share something interesting with them. If you think about it, this personifies what Google+ is; a way for everyone to speak and have their voice heard. But alas, it is not the case anymore. Google has removed the Incoming Stream and buried my voice deep in the sea of noise that is Google+.
What I don’t understand though is, why? If you look at +Dave Besbris post (https://plus.google.com/u/0/113882113745075873153/posts/Rjt66GLtnA2), no real concise reason is given. One reason that was given was that nobody used it. However, if you look at the responses in the thread, you will find the contrary is true. Another reason given was that it confused people. I must admit that this one is true as I was confused as to what it did for the longest time. However, when you think about it whose fault is that? In my opinion it is Google’s for not representing it properly and giving it a name that actually indicates its purpose such as “Shared with me” or “Posted to me”. At worst, why wasn’t it changed to an “opt-in” feature? And no, “Search Plus Your World” is not the answer, because guess what; I’m not in your world.
Do I really think that Google is censoring free speech? Obviously not; as Google has without a doubt demonstrated that they stand for anything but censorship. However, I do think Google was a little too hasty to pull the plug on the Incoming Stream without at least offering a reasonable alternative. With a few tweaks it seems to me that this little tool could have given aspiring bloggers or anyone really a chance for their voice to be heard, which in my opinion is what Google+ is all about.
At the time I posted this, there are 28 people who have me in circles, which means that if I’m lucky, maybe 15 people will actually read this post. I am willing to bet that if more people understood its purpose and value, then more would want to use incoming. Feel free to +1 or share this post if you (like me) want to see the “Incoming Stream” brought back.

I purchased Cerberus a little while back, and it has proven to be one of the best app purchases ever. However, unlike this guy, I have not yet had to put the app to use and have always wondered if it would work given the situation.
Well over the last few days, this guy has been posting on a forum about his phone being stolen and giving regular updates as to the status. Eventually the police were able to recover his phone.
If you have time I suggest reading the thread, it is simply amazing!

It was great watching this sheriff tell the airport authority/TSA agent to leave alone the two people who are handing out flyers informing people about the dangers of the nudie scanners and their right to film patdowns. Airport guy looked like someone had peed in his Cheerios.

RESHARE: People still ask me how I can work on a computer all day then go home and sit down in front of my computer (or mobile device now-a-days). It's just a programmer's way of life I guess.
RESHARE: This explosion took place yesterday just minutes from where I grew up. The street it happened on was Worthington Street, which is where all the bars and clubs are and I would expect would have been crowded with people on a Friday night.
Spent quite a bit of time hanging out in this area in my younger days.
Reshared text: Raw footage of the gas explosion in Springfield, MA. Amazingly no one was killed. Sixteen people were injured in the blast and were brought to area hospitals.
My girlfriend and I heard the explosion in the town across the river while we were in the movie theater watching Lincoln. The explosion was heard for up to 40 miles away.
Thankfully the emergency crews had evacuated the area already due to the gas odor and earlier reports of the leak.
(The explosion in the video occurs around the 24 second mark.)
RESHARE: Status update for CM10.1. I can't wait for this!
Reshared text: CM 10.1 Status Update
So we continue to work through the merger of 4.2 code and our CM enhancements. A branch in our github repos called mr1-staging has been created to facilitate the merger and is the target for core CM items (not features).
mr1-staging is not meant to be compile-able, its only purpose is to be a staging grounds for our core work. Chances are, it is useless for independent builders.
CM 10.0 (4.1.2) code is in jellybean-stable, if you are working on a bug-fix for the last stable release, patches should be submitted against that branch. If/when we do another 4.1.2 release (ie CM 10.0.x), it will originate from code in this branch.
Once staging is done in mr1-staging, we will push all that code to a 'CM10.1' branch, and eventually back to our primary 'jellybean' branch. This process is in place to make sure that we effectively move forward from CM 10.0 code, instead of starting over as was seen with the jump from Gingerbread to ICS. Patches from gerrit will be accepted towards CM 10.1, but for now, please have patience while we work through mr1-staging.
While the 4.2 updates are on a smaller scale, they do present some changes that will need to be considered and will effect our implementation of features. Just to name them briefly: Telephony Split, Multi-User, Quick Settings, and Lock-Screen Widgets. These items will be a strong focus when the initial CM10.1 branch is created.
On the feature front, +David van Tonder decided to make his weekend productive, and has already worked on the code for the majority of our MMS enhancements: Emoji support, sms split, gestures and templates, quick messaging. Notably MMS auto retrieve is not being forward ported as Google fixed that themselves. As stated above, patches will hit gerrit review after this staging process is completed.
As always, a timeline isn't and won't be available. We will continue to provide updates as we have them.
Why: +PIEK International Education Centre (I.E.C.) was never active on social media, soon a new website will be launched, with social media. +Wilco Wings assured us that Google+ is the future!
