Regionals is over for me - couldn't play well enough to get wins last night. Sigh. But, Glenn is still going in both 8 and 9 so it's time to cheer him on. Thanks for all of the well wishes! Regional updates will resume in March, til then we'll go back to your regularly scheduled random posts.

It's that time again, APA Regional tournament - playing 8 and 9 for a chance to get to the National Singles Finals in Las Vegas. Wish me luck, good shooting, and you all have a great weekend!

I've been trying to keep myself out of politics this year, I truly have been. After reading this though I simply had to share. Thank you +Margie Clayman for writing this.

A leader must understand, in my opinion, the people he or she is leading. Not just the people who attend the $50,000/plate dinners. All of the people. Even scumbags like me who go to work every day, 7:30-5, who don’t have fancy cars or more than two rooms to my name. I’m one of the people you’re supposed to touch with your ideas. And your touch has done nothing but left me cold. You should have been talking to me. You should both be ashamed of yourselves.

I think it VERY unlikely this call would have been made by experienced officials. It's clear the replacement folks are over their heads, the pace of the game is too fast for them to see all the penalties, rules too complex and numerous for them to have confidence in the calls, and I didn't know the gap in negotiations was...3.3M per year.

Hello sunset!

This is why I'm proud to be an Ag. This is Texas A&M.

We steeled ourselves for the harsh and sometimes insulting epithets to which we had become accustomed in places like Baton Rouge and Knoxville, where foreigners are considered fair game and common expectations of decency often suspended on game-day afternoons.  As we emerged from our car and into the maroon milieu we thought we had prepared ourselves for anything.  We were wrong.  We weren’t prepared for the one thing we found.

Genuine friendliness and hospitality.  It was pervasive and natural.

We have a beautiful friend who stopped by this morning.

Well, after a rain delay, we are off to the SEC. We will see. Gig 'Em!

Answering the question, what happens to a city after the Olympics are gone, the show features The Olympic City project, an ongoing collaboration between photographer Jon Pack and indie filmmaker Gary Hustwit of Helvetica design docu fame.

As the show’s catalog states, “some former Olympic sites are retrofitted and used in ways that belie their grand beginnings; turned into prisons, housing, malls, gyms, churches. Others sit unused for decades and become tragic time capsules.”

Since we in the US are on tape-delay for the Opening Ceremonies, and for many of the events, (Though I'll be streaming some live from NBC) I will be fairly absent from any feed that could contain real-time information about the Olympics. You all have a good few days!
