How To Deal With People That Notify Too Much

(1) Inform them in a private message, email, or chat that they are notifying you too much and they need not notify people of every single post that they create. Be polite but stern and clear with them. TELL THEM TO UNCHECK THE NOTIFY BOX ON THEIR CIRCLES. :-)

(2) You can change who can notify you in the Google Plus settings. You can have only specific circles or allow all your circles to be able to notify you or the Public or you can customize it to include only specific people and circles. It's up to you. You have those settings. Just remember when you allow only a small amount of people (specific circles) to have the option to notify you that you will not get notifications about a private message or a great hangout from people. I would advise you to find another way that people can contact you if you want contact...
email address
private email message enabled on your profile
Chat
Your link to your website
Your Facebook profile
Blog or another social media network

(3) If they continue to notify you too much, use the IGNORE feature.
You can access it in your drop down notification panel from the sandbar or you can go to your CIRCLES Page and click on Have you in circles tab and then you find all the people that notify you too much and select them and then click on Actions tab and then click IGNORE option. You will not receive any notifications at all from them: no direct post shares, no private messages....no mentions......NOTHING.

(4) You can just Block people.
---------------------------------------------------------

The Notify feature is a great feature if used in moderation with consideration of your followers that you have in your circles. Do not abuse the feature.

Use it sparingly to bring attention to a great post or Hangout.

Make a circle that is just for notifying people. Allow them to OPT-In to the circle if they want to receive notifications from you. Make a post and ask your followers if they would like to get notifications from you sparingly of your most amazing posts.

Don't abuse the feature.

This isn't difficult. It's simple. Be an adult and deal with the notify feature as an adult that cares about other people. Be kind.

Fun Game: Can you name 3 Black women that are awesome Google Plus users. Here's the catch. You have to name different people than the person that commented before you.

(You can also now try to name also Asian, Middle-Easterners, Native American, Pacific Islanders, and Hispanic Women) I will make a new circle out of the names of the women on this post. :-) You can recommend some European or Caucasian women also, but I'm trying to get people that rarely get shared and not SUL members or super popular G+ Elite Users

Take Some Responsibility For Your Role on Google Plus

Stop blaming +Chris Pirillo or being nasty to Pirillo and actually just take in the truthfulness of what he said about Google Plus.

1 Post some PUBLIC POSTS. Stop Lurking.
2 Build up your following of great people
3 Use Hangouts ( do some private video chats with Chat/Gtalk to get comfortable with video calls to ease yourself into using Hangouts on G+).
4 Stop navel gazing and being so focus on Google Plus vs Facebook that you don't post about other important things....like YOU...your friends...your life....your passions.
5 Stay on Google Plus for more than 3 minutes a day. Use the Platform for at least 30 minutes to an hour. It will help Google Plus with data, and it will help you build up your following, and hopefully encourage you to engage more by commenting and sharing posts.
    6 SHARE great posts.
    7 Comment on people's posts
8 Be nice. Don't bully people. Be kind to one another online.
9 Let Google focus on the bad reviews of Google Plus. You focus on being a community and making Google Plus an amazing place to interact with people.
10 Bring great posts to Google Plus. Take some time on your Google Plus posts. Don't just dump crap and articles in the stream. Post about things that you care about. MAKE US CARE ABOUT IT.

Getting angry at everyone that has a bad review of Google Plus will not help Google Plus, You, or the Google Plus Community.

Let's rise above the negativity and show everyone how good and kind this community really is compared to the other social networks. Let's be adults
and take full responsibility about our roles on Google Plus.

Google Groups .......What do you think of Google Groups?

(You got notified, scroll to the bottom of this post if you have an issue with that.)

     (1) Do you think they are ugly?
     (2) Do they need to be upgraded to a more aesthetically pleasing User Interface?
     (3) Do you think they should be added into the left side bar of Google Plus?
     (4) Do you think Google+ should create groups specifically built for Google+?
     (5) Do you use Google Groups?
    (6) On a scale of 1-20 (20 being the highest) How much does Google Plus need groups? Would groups on Google Plus help people fit in more?

Example of a Google Group: http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/google-plus-discuss

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If I ask this question without notifying people, I will get maybe 2 comments. I'm going to notify some of you. Hopefully, some of you will be willing to contribute to this post. If you don't like getting notified, add yourself to my post about my "Do Not Notify" Circle and I'll add you to the circle:

[If I can't get any feedback on my Google Plus posts, why should I use Google Plus?? There is no way that most of you will see the majority of my post. I'm not popular on G+. It doesn't make sense that I have 7,000+ followers, but such lousy engagement.

I'm starting to feel like Google Plus is filled with cliques. People only want to contribute comments to people they think will advance their position on Google Plus. Basically people play favorites on here.]

Google Plus Idea  (Actually read it twice, before you post all your negative criticism because I know many of you will. I know you can't help it. I still love ya. :-) .:::: (As always if you don't want to be notified of any of my posts, go to this post and comment "don't notify me" : http://goo.gl/ilUFH and I will add you to my "Do Not Notify" circle.

Google Plus either needs to get a GET SATISFACTION page or Create their own or use Google Groups in a more productive manner.

    1. If new users sign up for Google Plus and a popup tour (and reminders on the homepage and the circles page) would tell them to go to Google Plus's Get Satisfaction page to get one on one tours of Google Plus, then many of us that devote our time to help people get started on G+ could easily find those people and help them find their way on Google Plus. This could help more people stay on Google Plus instead of leaving it and calling it a ghost town or boring.

    or

    2. Google could dedicate a section in the Google Plus Group (Yes Google has Groups...they are more like forums.) to have help people that are needing one on one attention to get started right on Google Plus. Many of us could definitely help out there. We would still be using a Google Product and we could easily find new people. Google would need to point people to the Groups page for help from the homepage of G+ and from the Circles Page so that people could easily be reminded if they need help or a tour or help finding people to circle or need recommendations from actual active Google Plus users on who they might be interested in circling., they could go to the Google Plus Group for newcomers. (http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!forum/google-plus-discuss)

We need something to help new G+ users that are confused or dissatisfied with their first initial experiences with Google Plus.

I bet there are a good handful of Google Plus users that would be willing to help out on the Google Plus Groups page or on a Get Satisfaction page.

People on Facebook don't talk about Facebook all day.
They don't navel gaze about the network/platform. They use it. They post about their lives and their friends and all the good and the bad crap that they share.

*You want to compete with Facebook?*
    1. Learn to spice up your posting style.
    2. Post some semi-personal posts on G+.
    3. Don't post memes all day.
    4. There is more to G+ than cats.
    5. How much do you know about the people you circle?
    6. Do you really care about the people that you have in your circles?
    7. Include instead of exclude.
    8. Stop lurking. Share, post, comment...hangout, chat...do something.
    9. Share your passions.
    10. Be yourself on here.
    11. Google Plus should be more than your dump for articles. Is it just a bookmarking site for you?
    12. Moderation is the key. Posts about different subjects.
    Sometimes make yourself the subject.
    13. Ask questions that get people discussing  a topic. Ask questions that make people think.
    14. Get to know one another. You are not robots. You are humans.
    15. Guys: geeky crap 24/7 is well...dorky. It's not cute.
    16. Be brave and share what you really have been wanting to share.
    17. Stop being afraid to get personal on Google Plus.
    18. Every post doesn't have to be a meme,  a post about Google Plus, an article with no commentary, blogs links to promote you.
    19. Encourage others.
    20. USE HANGOUTS. Wake up to the reality that Google Plus users are real people. Treat each other with respect.

Obsession with Photo Posts on G+

I still don't understand why so many people think they have to have a photo with their Blog post/status updates for G+. The majority of the time, the photos really add nothing to the posts. Why include a crappy photo when you really want people to READ your text post??!!

The majority of my posts don't have photos, and I get great engagements on those posts. I don't need a photo to get more comments on a post. In fact, many of my posts that contained photos barely got any interaction at all unless they were a screenshot showing how to do something on Google Plus or pointing out a feature of Google Plus. I rarely create how-to posts for G+ anymore.

Google Plus Users,  I love gorgeous professional photo or great amateur photography. I love to see your photos that show your real life and the objects in life that really mean something to you. I don't care about random photos of no worth attached to a post just because you feel you have to attach a photo.

Isn't  it silly to  use a photo for no reason?? Think about it.

Photos take up a lot of space in the stream. Why use a photo when you don't need one?? Why clog up the stream for no significant reason? The majority of us do not enjoy the photo centric G+ mobile app because we know that the text is what's really important, right? Text is not king on the G+ mobile app.

I hope that at some point G+ will have a subscriber feature and the options to exclude specific types of posts by individuals. I would gladly check the option to not see GIFS and photos from a great deal of people I follow, but the problem is that way too many of you do "the attach random photo to a post" thing. <sigh>

Some of you do use relevant photos with your posts.
There are still others of you that have great  photos that are the center of your posts. Many of you do a great job describing the background to your photos.

I don't like 99% of the memes on G+ or the cat photos or the butchered animal photos. I keep many people in my circles because I like your other posts about news, tech, or your personal life.

I don't have the option to turn off individual photo posts from specific users. (Facebook has the option to turn off specific types of posts. Google Plus doesn't have those options yet.)

There is a difference between a Photo post and a Blog-type status post on Google Plus with a photo attached.

Real Photo posts: The photo is the center of the attention. Text is used to give details about the photo.

Blog/status post with a photo: The photo is just used because people say you need a photo. The photo really add nothing to your text post.

Blog/status post with illustration: Text is center of importance but the photo adds another element that brings another dimension of understanding to the post.

How many of you are confused? I'm not telling you what to do on Google Plus. I'm just trying to point out that we don't have the option to block certain types of posts from our main stream and that photos do take up space in the stream.

I love Ice Tea, and it is summertime. I love Google Plus.  Mingle and enjoy one another. Events are the closest thing that Google Plus has to groups right now. I'm really loving this feature. Talk and mingle in the comments. get to know one another. If you need to be removed, just ask me. If you don't want to participate, respond to the event with "No" and then mute the notifications and refresh your Google Plus page.

I'm never writing anything of worth or quality again on here. If two line posts about "Share me for an add" makes it to the What's Hot list, and NONE OF my posts in over a year have made the list, what the heck is the point???!!!

My end of the year circle share. Most of my favorite Google Plus people are in this circle. Browse through it and add the people you want or add the entire circle. Lots of beautiful and good people in this circle share. And if you want to be included in a future circle share, let me know in the comments and I'll check you out and consider following you back. :-)

You have to check the circle on desktop G+ or change your User Agent to Desktop in a mobile browser and check G+.

    RESHARE:
My personal opinion is that Google Plus needs more regular, average normal people for the public to actually adopt this network. Until the users of Google Plus change what they post and how they post, Google Plus will still be called a Ghost Town. I actually call Google Plus a small village. I think that is far more accurate of a description of Google Plus. I've been on here since field beta testing so I can be honest and tell the truth. I'm not going to lie about Google Plus. I use this network, but it's a small network of people. Until this network can garner less techy/geeky users, it will still be thought of as no man's land... a dead social network. Yes, there are active users on Google Plus, but there aren't enough to make a difference to the image that the public has of this network.

Everyone doesn't want to associate with strangers. That's a fact.

    Google Plus Sentiment at large

I was talking with some people last night about G+, and one person in the group who has a G+ profile but hasn't been on in 8 months said, "so, how is it going with Google Plus, is it getting any more like Facebook".  I said "no, not really" and asked her to elaborate. In a nutshell what she meant was not necessarily it's platform, but "like FB" in that more people that she might know were over here - family, friends, classmates, etc. so that the interaction and engagement was more like FB.  I explained a few differences and why, and she said "oh", with a indifferent look, apparently expressing that whether it has or not was not of big importance to her.

The average person still doesn't get G+, and may never, for that matter, if they don't try. It's too bad.

What can Google+ do to NOT be a Facebook look alike, YET still attract more than techies, SM consultants, bloggers, businesses and photographers, etc.?  Just musing a bit after last night's conversation.

Limited Posts Get Shared: Defeats The Purpose of Being Limited

Think about this: If you post a post to Your circles or specific circles, it should NOT contain a share link on it. There is a reason that most people post something to limited, right. They want it seen by only a small audience of people. But people forget to lock a post or can't lock a post from mobile yet.

If you post to limited, you have to also lock the post so it doesn't get shared. Isn't that crazy?? Really think about it. Shouldn't a limited post be locked by default?

On Facebook, when you post to friends only, there is no share link on the post because it's only for friends only, right? But on Google Plus you can share a limited post to limited (Your circles or specific circles) or to extended circles. When a post is not Public, it shouldn't be shared.

If you try to go to a limited post and comment on it and you are not in that person's circles, you will not be able to access the post. If you aren't able to access the original post, you were never meant to see it in the first place. It shouldn't be shared at all. Does anyone else understand what I'm saying??

Save a document to Google Drive by using (Ctrl+P)
    Has anyone tried it?

On Chrome Browser, go to a site/article/blog whatever and then do (Ctrl+P) and choose "Print with Google Cloud Print". Then click "PRINT".
On the next window, choose "Google Drive".

Tips for New G+ USERS: You Need to Circle More People.

The Google Plus users that are following you are the users that see your G+ posts

Followers: The people that have you in circles.

The people that you have in circles may or may not be following you. Google Plus isn't Facebook. People don't have to follow you back. Google Plus is like Twitter when it comes to following people.

The people that follow you are the ones that will see your posts.

    Does that make sense??

If you want more people to follow you, add more people to your circles or add a shared circle(s) to the circles you have created on your G+ account.

If you want more people to follow you; COMMENT, +1, and Share the posts of other people.

If you want more people to follow you, Join some Hangouts (video chats) and talk to people and make some friends on G+.

When it comes to who sees your post, Google Plus is like Twitter.

When it comes to commenting on a post, G+ is similar to Facebook.

Leviticus 20:18 If there is a man who lies with a menstruating woman and uncovers her nakedness, he has laid bare her flow, and she has exposed the flow of her blood; thus both of them shall be cut off from among their people.

So do Christians follow this rule like the follow the one about man on man sex?? If a husband accidentally sleeps with his wife and her menstrual flow starts, will the husband and wife be called evil sinners and get excommunicated from every Church in the world??

Do you really want a godless world??

God is everywhere even if people decide to ignore Him and pretend to forget Him. It doesn't destroy God. God doesn't ceased to be because humans don't want Him to exist. God is Love. God is Truth. Do you want your world without Love or Truth??

(You were notified because I seek your expert opinion.)

If people are too lazy to read the help files and seek out tips on how to use a social network site, should those people really be on social media?? If a person can't protect the privacy and security of the people they are connected to on social media, should they be on social media?? If a person allows themselves to be tagged in porn or spam on Facebook, should they even be on Facebook if they don't know how to untag and report spam/porn/scams on Facebook?? If a person on Facebook doesn't know to use the Help Center to Send Feedback on Facebook, should they be on Facebook or any social media site?? What do you think??

Thank you Wendy Williams for saying that age is no excuse. Thank you.
I keep seeing people saying that rappers using the N word. Most of them don't usually use the actual N word. They use a shortened N-word that ends in "ga" that means my homie or homeboy or friend. The real... actual N-word means you A PIECE OF GARBAGE, A SUBHUMAN SPECIES, NOT HUMAN, WORTHLESS, DISGUSTING DARK PERSON, INCAPABLE OF INTELLIGENCE, PATHETIC, AN ANIMAL. It's a sick word. You all know that it's wrong for people to use, especially for non-Blacks to use in a public space of employment.

Yes, some rappers do use the N word, but not all. Most people that buy rap music are usually not Black people. The majority of people that buy rap music are caucasian.

Sex: Sin or Not a Sin before Marriage. Sex: Who can Men Have sex with from a Biblical Standpoint?

Definition for Sin on this post: Sin is anything that harms your neighbor or yourself and disrespects LOVE. Sin is nothing more than bad acts or evil deeds or wrongdoings.

We are not going to discuss the subject of sin for 300 comments. Please discuss sex and marriage. (Yes, you can bring up "your" definition of sin, but please keep it to one or two sentences and stick to the topic of SEX and MARRIAGE.)

If you are having the Error Code 3 Issue for Hangouts, Try this fix:

"I have fixed my Code 3 Error.
I am on Windows 7 I don't know if it will be the same for other operating systems but here go's.

    1. Right Click speaker icon beside your clock on the right hand side of your task bar.
    2. Left Click Recording Devices.
    3. Left Click the microphone that you use for Google Hangouts.
    4. Left Click Properties.
    5. Left Click Advanced.
    6. Left Click Default Format drop down box
    7. Left Click 2 channel, 16 bit, 44100 Hz (CD Quality)
    8. Left Click Apply
    9. Left Click OK
10 Left Click OK on your Sound Window.

Now try to start a new Google Hangout and hopefully there is no more Error, I had my format at 2 channel, 16 bit, 96000 Hz (Studio Quality) and this seems to be the cause of the crash / error."

Link for mobile web Google Plus: https://plus.google.com/app/plus/mp/598/?force=1#~loop:view=stream

    1. Bookmark the link above to your Firefox Bookmark Bar.
    2. Shorten the name of the app if you desire. I named my "M. G+"
    3. Right click on your new G+ bookmark and click "properties".
    4. Check the box to "Load this bookmark in the sidebar".
    5. Click on your new Bookmark again.
    6. It should open in the sidebar on Firefox.

     ● Bookmark G+ Posts, Tweets, Facebook, And Articles on The Web ●

    Lists of Bookmarking Tips:

    Pocket:

    1. Create a Pocket account. Go to http://getpocket.com

    2. Go to the Chrome Store and download the Pocket extension.

2 (a). You can also use Orbvious Interest if you want to see a notification number of unread post in the toolbar and other options for Pocket. (http://goo.gl/gp8HZ) Note: You must manually set the settings in Orbvious Interest to customize how the extension works for notification numbers of unread posts.

    3. When on Google Plus, right click on the time stamp of a post in your stream, and you can save it to Pocket (If you use Orbvious Interest, you can add the title of the post and tags to the post.). You can also save a post if you go to the full link of a G+ post by clicking on the timestamp and  then when you are on the full post,  click on Pocket  in your Chrome toolbar to save the post.

    4. You can easily set up Pocket to save Tweets and you can also save Facebook posts by right clicking on the time stamps of Facebook posts and choosing "Save to Pocket". Remember to tag the post with the Original Posters name an the topic of the post.

    Example: Jane Doe, Recipes, Cupcakes

Be specific about your tags on Pocket for your Google Plus posts that you save.

Include the Original Posters name in your tags and the subject of the post. Tags will make it very simple to find posts later by searching by the subject of the tag.
For example: G+ posts, John Doe (G+ user’s name), Circles, G+ tips.

Pocket is one of the easiest ways to bookmark posts around the web. You can also access Pocket on mobile phones and tablets.

    + 1s

    1. Click on the time stamp of a Google Plus post, Tweet, Facebook post, or article.

    2. Click on the + 1 button on the page or your + 1 button on your toolbar in your Chrome or Firefox browser.

    3. Go to your profile page on Google Plus' desktop version.

    4. Look to the right on your profile page and select the + 1 tab. You should see all your + 1s from around the web.

    5. You can make your +1 s private or public by editing the settings for your + 1 tab on your Google Plus profile page.

    Evernote

    1. Go to your settings in Evernote and get your Evernote upload email address.

    2. Create a circle on G+ called Evernote and place your Evernote
upload email address in the circle.

    3. Share a G+ post to your Evernote email circle.

    4. Many Chrome extensions for Evernote will allow you to save a screenshot of a post and send that photo to Evernote.

Search for the right extension for your needs in the Chrome
    web store.
    http://www.evernote.com

    Circle Trick: Read Later

    1. Create a new circle on your Google Plus account on the Circles page on G+.

    2. Add one of your email addresses to that Circle or search for your name on G+. Name the circle something like “Read Later” or “Bookmark” or “Saved”, etc.”

    3. When you see a post that you want to save, share the post to your empty “Read Later” circle that you just created.
    -------------------------------

You can also do many of the same tricks listed in this post with Readability, One Note, and many other bookmarking
applications that are on the web. Find the one that works best for you.
    -------------------------------

If you have any questions or need any help setting up any of these options, please don’t hesitate to Tag me in a private message, or send me a chat conversation, or email me.

    RESHARE:
13 year old Black Male Shot to Death in Front of His Mother

"On 31 May, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a 13-year-old boy named Darius Simmons was allegedly shot to death by 75-year-old John Henry Spooner, right in front of the boy's mother, Patricia Larry. Spooner had confronted Darius as he was taking out the trash and accused the kid of stealing from his home. When Ms Larry attempted to defend her son verbally against the accusation, Spooner drew a 9mm handgun."

Hey 5,000 followers. I have a challenge for you.
I dare you all to make 2 Public status update only posts today with no pictures. This can be really easy unless you are Chicken.

Just make a simple morning/afternoon "hello" post and then make the second post a few hours later for evening/night and tell your followers about your day.

The Google Plus SUL list is predominately WHITE.

Is this healthy for a social network that is an INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL PLATFORM???!! Is it fair to all the Black Americans, Black Africans, Asians, Indians, Middle Eastern users??

Could you have a more diverse group of users on the SUL list?

Creating A Circle To Share of Helpful Google Plus Users
Need Help. Recommend some users. [Read More]
    Criteria:
    - 10,000 or less followers
    - Help other G+ users understand G+
    - People that actually answer their +mentions
    - Folks that are not rude or snarky or crass or bullies.

I would like to have a diverse circle of women and men and users from all over the world from various cultures and races.
The goal for the circle is diversity. I want users that don't regularly get shared on G+.

    Examples:
An Italian guy that has 2,000 followers but helps everyone with hangouts.
An American female that is great at explaining how to use G+ business pages.
An African male G+ user that is teaching others how to set up communities on G+.
An Asian female G+ user that helps folks with video and recommends all the best Android apps.
A Canadian male that gives tours of G+

Do You Have A Solution: Moderators Can't notify members in a community

If you were notified it's because I think you are smart and awesome and you might have a solution to this or a workaround.

Since it's not a built in feature that allows Moderators to notify people in a group, what would be a good workaround?

    Thought:
If you have a small group that less than 100 people, you might be having a hard time getting interaction in your group because so many people are in the HUGE groups and also trying to pay attention to their public G+ stream.

I guess you could add all your community members to a circle and name it the name of your community. Make a post in your community first and then make a second limited post to just the members of your community and lock the post and disable comments on the post and notify your small group of the post and point them to check the community for new posts. I would ask permission to notify the members first because some people might have notifications turned on for the group. And some members might not want to get any notifications at all.

Why didn't Moderators get a way to notify their members?? (Sigh)
