Enhancing Your Google+ Experience Series With Chuck
Chrome Extensions That Add The + To Google+
    ==========================================

OK, with all the recent changes to Google+ and with all the new followers I have gained (thank you for adding me to your circles) recently I think its time to do a recap and reintroduce some tips and tricks to help Enhancing Your Google+ Experience

In this post I want to share some of the software I use to Enhance My Google+ Experience. If you’re a Google Chrome browser user you’re in luck as I got some really awesome extensions that will help make Google+ even better. Some are specially made for Google+ and other work great with Google+ and other websites as well. If you’re not a Chrome user perhaps this may help sway you to try it out because I think Google Chrome is the best browser out there, but that’s just my opinion. Lets get started.

    Chrome Extensions Specifically For Google+
    *************************************************

CircleCount http://goo.gl/InaUC - for all kinds of stats on almost anyone’s profile, CcircleCount has all kinds of details ranging from number of posts, +1s, comments, followers and more. Visit their website www.circlecount.com for even more in depth details on profiles plus find interesting people to follow based on highest number of followers, content and more. No true Google+ user should be without this extension or website.

Circloscope (Inactives+) http://goo.gl/mvVv6 - the key to a good G+ experience is maintaining your circles clean of useless profiles. This extension of two parts helps find inactive users in your circles based on the date range of your choice then makes it easy to uncircle them some or all of them. Be careful as there may be some people you may not want to uncircle due to these profile and pages only being active during certain times of the year such as +Secret Santa.

Circloscope (Uncirclers+) http://goo.gl/evcJO - This second part helps find people who haven’t circled you back thus helping you either remove them or organize them within your circles for better management.

Circloscope Premium http://goo.gl/mIeBV - This is the premiun version of the 2 extensions above. This is an all in one extension that comes fully loaded with all the features of the free extensions above plus several more making this extension the ultimate circle management extension for Google+ which, as I said before, is the key to a good G+ experience. Beware, this is a paid extensions, not free, but still worth sharing.

DoShare http://goo.gl/MJXto - posting from within Google+ is ok, but DoShare gives you more than just sharing. DoShare gives you the power of a text editor in a separate tab making it easy to put titles on your post, add italic and bold text style, schedule posts, save drafts and even create polls from your posts. It does everything the post box on your stream does but easier and better. You can even click the icon on your browser from any website and it can automatically add the link. Just make sure to check the settings for all the features. A must have for anyone who likes to share a lot on Google+

Extended Share http://goo.gl/1exZp - We all know that Google+ may not necessarily be the only Social Media site you use (but should be your main one) so this extension adds share button for several other sites of your choosing to every post on your stream to easily share Google+ posts to sites like Facebook, Twitter, Pintrest and more. You pick and choose which icons are shown in the menu.

Favorite Posts http://goo.gl/9zED0 - Ever see that one post that you just might not be able to read at the moment and its sometime simpossible to find later or maybe there’s a post you like so much you wanna save it? Favorite Posts can help with that by putting a star icon on each post and comment for you to save and access anytime. Head into the settings and sync the extension with your home or work Chrome browser and also to bookmark sites like Pocket and CircleCount.

Google Translate For G+ http://goo.gl/SY9Tn - Google+ has members from all around the world and sometimes their posts or comments and in their native language that you may not understand. Google has an awesome translator website and this extension brings that power right into Google+ posts and comments to help translate the words to your prefered default language.

Google+ Notifications http://goo.gl/gu29f - As much as you like being on Google+ its not the only website you will be on all the time but that doesn’t mean you have to check your Google+ tab or even have it open all the time to see if you have received any notifications. This extension buts the notification counter right on your browser icon bar.

Autoload New Posts http://goo.gl/GxKRS - The new G+ layout is very nice in my opinion although not everyone agrees but there is one feature most people don’t like, posts no longer autoload, instead you get a blue button that tells you the number of posts shared since the last time you hit the button and you have to click it to show the latest posts and if the number is big you stream will just zoom by in a flash thus making it hard to keep track of posts. This extension autoloads posts for you just as it did before but with a little twist, if you are not at the top of the page new posts will not autoload and the blue button shows up so that the stream doesn’t move while you’re checking out previously shared posts. That way you get to have your cake and eat it too.

Download Support http://goo.gl/MwdpR - One thing Google+ is known for is the amazing pictures people love to share. Sometimes there are photos you would like to save for yourself, to use as wallpapers for your phones or desktop PC or because you collect certain kind of photos. This extension make it easy to download the images right from the post although it hasn’t been updated so the icons are a bit out of place with the new layout. A word of caution though, many people don’t like having their personal photos downloaded and used without their permission so have some consideration and respect other peoples work and personal photos when downloading them. Should only be used when the images are meant to be shared freely.

Privacy Bubbles http://goo.gl/ciLfr - One of Google+’s coolest features is the ability to share content to different groups be it public circles, private circles, extended circles and even communities. This extension assigns a color highlight to the top of each post giving you a visual notification of how the post was shared. Its helpful when looking for post shared directly to you or to communities versus public posts.

Gooweet Client For Twitter http://goo.gl/8725l - If you are a Twitter user and would like to share yout Google+ posts to twitter at the same time then this extension can help. As an added bonus this extension is also a Twitter client for Google+ thus bring your Twitter stream to Google+ which can be accessed from the icon on the sliding sidebar also giving some of Twitter’s features right from Google+. Handy when you don’t want to have more than one tab open.

Chrome Extensions Useful On Google+ And Other Sites
    **************************************************************

Diigo Web Collector http://goo.gl/Opxcj - Diigo is like a cross between Evernote and Pocket allowing you to bookmark websites, highlight parts of a webpage to make it easier to find later and even screenshot part or entire pages and save them on your Diigo page. Convenient for saving links and screenshots to later share on Google+.

Goo.gl URL Shortner http://goo.gl/ygGS6 - When you wanna share links to websites on a post on Google+ but sometimes they are so big they make posts look ungly you can shorten the link by using this extension right from Google. Sure there are alternatives such as Bit.ly and tinyurl.com but may as well be consistent since Chrome and Google+ are both Google products and so is this URL shortener.

Google +1 Button http://goo.gl/y3VbM - Because not every website has updated their share buttons to include Google’s +1 button now you can do it right from the browser and you can even share the page you +1 to Google+ right from the extension icon.

Lazarus http://goo.gl/5qWjy - Ever been inspired to wrote a great post or comment from within Google+ or any other website with a comment box and after all that hard work in putting the right words together to make your point you accidentally refresh the page, hit delete or paste something saved in the clipboard and lose all that work and are unable to undo the mistake? Well with Lazarus that problem becomes a thing of the past. While Lazarus is not perfect it will save you words 95% of the time in full or possibly missing that last few words you added before it had time to save them and every once in awhile it won’t because the website may not be compatible with Lazarus, but Google+ is. However as awesome as this extension is for both posts and comments I would personally recommend writing posts (not so much comments) within a text editor like Google Docs or the DoShare extension which will not only allow for drafts to be saved but also to provide an easier layout to write your post with less distractions from the stream.

Stylish http://goo.gl/OS9Oe - As I mentioned before, although I kinda like the new layout some people don’t like the new multi-column layout and some have even reverted to the single column layout except thanks to the way Google+ now manages posts and those other details such as birthday reminders, upcoming events and recommended people to follow with cards, the layout has even more white space than before in single column form. But thanks to this little extension and the Wider posts on Google Plus script found here http://goo.gl/kpXMF for this extension you can make the posts under the single column layout wider thus taking advantage of the white space available.

Awesome Screenshot http://goo.gl/TjnAl - The name says it all, take screenshots of webpages and then edit the pictures right inside the browser. You can crop the picture, add text, arrows, circles and boxes to highlight sections of the image and even blur parts of the image out. Then save the image to your Google Drive, Diigo account or to a folder on your PC to share on Google+ or other sites.

    Chrome Extensions Special Mentions
    *****************************************

Session Buddy http://goo.gl/uyWrM - As a heavy Google+ user I often have several tabs open while I do research for my next Google+ post, like this one. At times I have accidentally closed the browser thus losing all my tabs but thanks to this extensions autosave tab feature I am able to recover the last set of tabs I had open. I can also save a set of tabs to open later.

LastPass http://goo.gl/W5GoW - Having so many sites to access that require sign-ins, especially several Gmail accounts it can be painful trying to remember so many passwords, especially when you don’t use the same one on all your sites as a security precaution to avoid giving access to everything with a single easy pasword (a habbit I highly recommend everyone follow). Lastpass helps make it easier by remembering the passwords for you and easily helping you sign-in to each site under the login of your choice and all you need to remember is one password. Just make sure this one password is a tough one since you only need to remember one. Its highly recommended you use a combination of several words and numbers, like a phrase familiar to you but not easy for others to figure out. The longer the password the less likely it can be cracked.

Hangouts http://goo.gl/2Ta1f - This extension replaces Google Chat on your browser and Google Talk on your desktop. It links you to your Google+ contacts. While its part of Google+ it’s meant to be more of a stand alone chat connected to Google+ for Hangouts and one of one or group chatting which is why I shared it in this section.

Extension Manager http://goo.gl/MQ8Un - Because I just shared a ton of extesnions and odds are you either already use some or will come across many more I figured this extension would come in handy as it helps manage the extensions right from the icon on the browser as opposed to go thru the settings page. Basically it gives you all the managing powers you need such as enabling and disabling extensions, apps and themes, accessing extension options when available, deleting extensions, apps and themes and an easy link to the Chrome Web Store. Believe me this will be the most important extension of all.

A word of causing. Having this many extensions installed and enabled on your Chrome browser (plus any others may have already have or install afterwards) can slow down your browser if you don’t have a lot of memory on your PC. Also some extension may conflict with others, especially on Google+ thanks to the new layout so make sure to tweak the extension settings and eliminate unnecessary features and only install and keep the ones you you really need and disable those you only use occasionally. That’s where the Extension Manage extension comes in handy.

If you need any assistance with these extensions please feel free to ask me. I’d be glad to provide assistance. But it will cost you a +1.    :+D   Just kidding.

Thanks for reading and I hope this makes your Google+ Experience even better.. Enjoy.

  • Does It Really Help?

I am no hunter by any means so I have very little knowledge when it comes to such a question. I can't say I don't agree with hunting because that is how humanity survived before we started farming, raising and killing the animals we eat today.

But I am against the concept of killing animals just for fun and then bragging about it all over the Internet as if you are cool for taking down a huge and/or dangerous creature from far away in a protected area, because you are so awesome. To me that's the equivalent of sending drones to a war zone to devastate the enemy and then claiming to be the best army in the world.

Look, if killing these animals does somehow help the population then perhaps its something we'll just have to live with until a better, less lethal, alternative is created. But lets remember one thing, this is the same kind of mentality some people and even countries have when it comes to other people. Even Scrooge himself once said people should hurry and die off to decrease the surplus population. Isn't that what we do when we hunt animals?

  • Another song I wanna learn the lyrics and it turns out that after reading the lyrics I never realized just how much this song resembles the current status of my relationship with my family.

Like the chorus says "Lately I been, I been losing sleep (hey!), Dreaming about the things that we could be. But baby, I been, I been prayin' hard" and maybe its time I "Said no more counting dollars, We'll be counting stars". Couldn't have said it better myself.

  • I Guess You Don't Get What You Pay For, Specially When Microsoft Is Involved

Why am I not surprised? According to this story it seems that your 500 GB Xbox One really only has about 365 GBs of useful space for your games. That's rather interesting. It seems that, according to Microsoft, most of that space between the 365 and the 500 is used up by the Xbox One's OS plus the native apps installed. Really?

Windows barely takes 10 GBs on my PC. What the heel does the Xbox One OS have that it takes up nearly 100 GBs on a hard drive? I have 1 1TB drives, 1 2TB and 1 3TB and those of us savvy enough to understand know that when you buy , say, a 1TB drive that you actually get about 931GBs of free space. You in essence lose about 70GBs to the hard drives firmware and the way bits are actually calculated. But how do you lose 100GBs on a 500 GB drive and use the OS of the hardware as an excuse?

Looks like once again console buyers have been suckered into buying less than they were advertised to get. As I said, its obvious to anyone with a brain that when it says 500GBs it really means about 20 to 30GBs less than that, but not 100GB.  Shame on you Microsoft.

Now we need to find out what's the PS4 limit. It better not be the same or else they can forget about me getting one.

  • Once Again Sony Shows How Real Console Gaming Is Done, Without The Extra Cost

I'm no hardcore console player by any means, I'm a PC gamer thru and thru who occasionally plays console games like those from the classic Nintendo consoles although usually thru PC emulators, but I have kids who are console players and so I have to keep an open mind over what consoles to get them and why and this article is a great example as to why I prefer Sony's Playstation over Microsoft's Xbox.

Sony has made it very clear that they are not out to screw their customers by forcing them to pay for yearly subscriptions to Playstation Plus if you don't want to (unless you're a online multiplayer type of gamer but even then with the free games you get its still worth it), keep them from enjoying older console games (such as Playstation Now for PS3 games backwards compatibility and a PS1/PS2 emulator for the PS4 http://goo.gl/Oy840d) and their famous no internet or camera requirement and freedom to do what you want with your games features. Now Sony takes it one step further by not requiring a Playstation Plus subscription in order to play The Elder Scrolls Online because, well, you already have to pay a $15 subscription to play the game so why should you have to get Playstation Plus in order to play it. But again, with all the free games you get for the PS3, PS4 and the PS Vita (and odds are you may have at least 2 out of the 3 already) its worth it.

Microsoft on the other hand still requires you to have an Xbox Live subscription to play just about any game, including The Elder Scrolls Online (http://goo.gl/8ZhPy5) and even movie streaming services like Netflix and Hulu Plus (You don't have to have Playstation Plus to use these streaming services on the Playstations). Shame on you Microsoft.

So, still feel like the Xbox One is for you. That's OK. We all have our own preferences. I'm a PC gamer as I said before because in the end no console currently out there can compete with a gaming PC, not even those console looking Steam Machines we saw at CES 2014.

I'm not here to play the "Playstation is better than Xbox because I'm a fanboy and I said so" game, I'm here to provide the facts as they come out. Its up to you to decide if you are willing to pick certain advantages and disadvantages of one console over the other because lets be realistic, the PS4 has its cons too. Can't deny the snap feature on the Xbox One is pretty neat. As for the voice commands, its not a feature the PS4 is missing its simply not as cool as the Xbox One's voice commands.

  • Google+ Is Not About The Numbers, Its About The Interaction

Once upon a time I joined a social media site called Google+ thanks to a friend who sent me an invite when it was still in beta.  Little did I know that I would have to learn the hard way how to truly enjoy what Google+ was really all about, but it was worth it in the end.

The following is a comment I made on +Mark Traphagen's post http://goo.gl/Nr0LDb where I was told I should make into its own post. It tweaked it a little to make it more like a post and less like a comment.

When I first started using Google+ I went circle crazy and eventually ended up with 5000 people in my circles in a very short amount of time. This lead to a very poor experience at first as my stream moved too fast for me to keep up (before the blue new-post-counter button was added) and I was getting a lot of posts that I just was not interested in seeing (they were mostly topics I was not interested in or just random comments that seemed too Facebook Status-like to me) and became an annoyance to sift through in order to find the good stuff. That's why by the end of 2012 I did some "spring cleaning" on my circles (didn't want to actually wait till spring to do it) and went from 5000 to around 600 people in my circles and to my surprise my stream not only slowed down a bit but the content on it also improved.

Of course I was still an amateur at managing my circles, I created a circle for people who followed me and one for people who didn't, then I created circles for my pages based one their content such as tech, educational and even everything Google related. This worked well at first but these days I am still missing out on great stuff because even though I created these circles I was still using the default "all circles" stream to see who was posting what. I failed to take full advantage of my new circles and while my content improved I missed out on too much good stuff. That's why I am trying to change the way I check out my G+ stream by using the circles I created which happen to be conveniently located at the top of the page.

I plan on filtering these circles even more so I can see posts from specific people more easily while still enjoying the rest of the people I have circled. This should improve my experience and allow me to interact more with those I love reading most.

I also hope to eventually replace this aged PC with a better, faster one which will allow me to better utilize my Chrome browser and all the extensions I have (specifically those for Google+) so my experience can be even better. My goal is to set up my browser to open each circle in its own tab thus allowing me to see them all without having to change circles, just simply switch between tabs. I tried this already and while my PC is a bit slow and multiple tabs make using Chrome annoying on this old PC I did notice that it was better to see each circle in its own tab and I also noticed each circle displays its own blue new-post-counter button that only shows the posts for that circle and not all of them as the "all circle" stream does. I found this extremely useful.

It took a few years for me to get the hang of Google+, to find the best ways to enjoy what it has to offer, the content that people share. I have always considered myself a pioneer of Google+ as I did what I could to point out its flaws and push to have certain features that would make the experience even better. I can't say for sure if I actually had a direct impact in the changes that have happened to G+ since I joined but I like to believe I did.

I am by no means an expert, I am not an authority on Google+. But I do believe my experience with Google+ and all the tips and tricks I have learned from some of the best Plussians on this site are worth sharing with those who either have been here for a while and are still looking for better ways to experience G+ and those who are just starting and want to avoid having to learn the hard way how to truly enjoy what Google+ has to offer.

I can only provide the knowledge that I have gained through my mistakes. Its up to you to decide whether you want to learn from it or ignore it. Personally, I see no negative affects in listening. After all, knowledge is power, even if its not something you need right now.

  • And So The Spying Continues...

If they are on Xbox Live, who's to say they won't infiltrate ones Xbox One and use the always on and required Kinect to spy on people all in the name of National Security?

Keep telling yourself it won't happen. It's not like humanity didn't once believe the world was flat or that we were not the center of the universe.

  • So much stupidity over the Chick-fil-a "scandal" from both sides of the argument.

Look people. Grow up, get a life and stop being so stupid. The guy wants to believe in family values? That's his right. People want to boycott Chick-fil-a because of it? That's their right too. This whole bullshit over who is right and who is wrong is stupid, ignorant and extremely childish.

Chick-fil-a food sucks anyways and as a Catholic myself I guess God did not grace their food for everyone to love. I say if you like Chick-fil-a and you don't care about what the owner thinks then eat to your hearts content and if it bothers you what he thinks than feel free to drop by the closest KFC, Pollo Tropical, El Pollo Loco, Church Chicken, Popeye's or Roy Rogers and get your chicken fill God free and full of gay love.

The only reason I think this should be even news is if Chick-fil-a has denied work or fired someone for being gay. If so then I say boycott the hell out of them. Otherwise enough with this stupid back and forth who's right crap. You are all stupid people for this. Enough is enough. Get a life and let the rest of us live ours too without having to see so much bullshit about this that it has to trend on Google+

There, that's my 2 cents on this. Fuck it, 1 cent cause I'm cheap.

  • RESHARE:

    Reshared text:
    Google+ Feature Request

It would be awesome if +Vic Gundotra could see this post and perhaps take it into consideration for the next feature to be added to Google+.

I know Google wants Google+ users (Plussians) to use the photo section of Google+ considering all the recent updates and features they added in the latest layout change. They also encourage us to use images on Google+ posts to maximize the posts effectiveness and reach. One of Google+'s flaws is the limitation of images within the folders inside your photo albums (1000 limit), mainly the Photos from post folder used by Google+ every time you share an image on a post. While the 1000 photo/folder limitation seems pretty high I have already seen a few Plussians reach that limitation several months before Google+'s second anniversary. This is also a problem for those of us who have special kinds of posts we share religiously, posts that are like a series such as "question of the day" or "Caturday" both which can easily reach the 1000 limit pretty fast by using the same image over and over or uploading several images a day.

That's why it would be great if Google+ gave us the option to use the URL of images we already have uploaded to our albums (and other sites) instead of duplicating the image from the album as it currently does even if you use the image from the same Photos from post album.

If this can be done within Blogger why can't it be done from Google+? I know Google is focusing on using Google+ photo albums but if we had more control over the images in order to avoid duplication and the limitations that would be awesome. To balance the look of the current post box in my edited version below I also added a "Your Google Drive photos" button since before the layout change we use to have a link to use Drive images even if its not necessary. Maybe someone can find another way to upload images.

So what do you think? A worthwhile feature? Do you think the +Google+ Developers and +Vic Gundotra will notice and consider? Lets hope they do. Will certainly raise my post numbers.

  • This is how whiner Republicans deal with people who's opinions differ from theirs. they ban people. This is why Republicans think most people think like them, because they don't have friends who have different views and don't know how to deal with them.

Here's the post where this whiner "threatens" to ban me. Big deal. I am not afraid to have my opinions questioned and contradicted. I welcome it. Poor +Kevin Hagus will never understand this.

  • Legalized Marijuana And Celebrities

So now that marijuana is slowly becoming legalized throughout the US I can't help but ask the following questions:

    1) Will future political candidates be bashed for their use of marijuana if they admit they did it in the past?

    2) Will they openly smoke it while running as political candidates?

    3) Will celebrities be more open to their use of marijuana?

    4) Will Snoop Dogg lose fame now that its legal in some states? :+D

    What do you think?

  • I know many of you out there are not fans of Fox news, but a story is a story and this one should not be ignored. It's a prime example of the consequences of your actions. I hope people are truly willing to make things worse in order to make things better because the reality is things will get worse, a whole lot worse, before they get better.

  • Top 5 reasons it sucks?

    5) Too Many Boring Channels I Don't Want
    4) Radio Stations I Don't Need
    3) Too Many Repeated Channels Making It Seem Like You Got 500 Channels When All You Really Have Is 200
    2) You Still Have To Scroll Thru Channels You Don't Have, Why Not Eliminate Them If They Are Not Part Of Your Subscription?
    1) Too Expensive For Only A Handful Of Worthwhile Channels And Hundreds Of Useless Ones.

I Prefer Netflix Combined With Amazon Prime, Hulu Plus and torrent if necessary to watch some TV shows.

  • Google+ Tip Of The Day - You Should Spell Check Before & After You Post Or Comment

Look, I normally can't stand grammar Nazis. They are usually very annoying and picky about the dumbest spelling errors. After all we are human and can make mistakes; but sometimes I see grammar and spelling errors that just cringe me and make me wanna become a grammar Nazi.

So please, I am begging you. Please review you posts or comments before you post it. And to have an added layer of safety, read it again after you post it, just to be sure.

Some of the more common mistakes I see are the use of words like there, they're and their. I can understand how this may seem confusing to some, specially people whose first language is not English but seriously, you gotta make more of an effort. Need help making sure you are spelling it right or using the proper word? Check out this post: http://goo.gl/m8GQFb

I am by no means perfect. I make mistakes all the time. But I do my best to read before and after I post because my 2 finger typing skills are terrible and I make tons of spelling errors as I write catching most of them as I go. Please, make the effort, check before posting. Chrome has a spell checker, use it. If not install one, also try http://www.afterthedeadline.com/ which helps with spell checking and grammar. Doesn't hurt to try it.

  • OK, I can't help but find it curious. Why do I have 13,000 followers yet only a hand full of them actually +1 any of my posts and even less of them actually comment even when I ask people to share their opinions on what I posted about? Am I really that boring? Are my posts that dull?

I must be the perfect example for what not to do if you want engagement on Google+. Damn you people are one tough audience.

  • I wanna believe so badly  the police are here to protect and serve us, but videos like this make it so difficult. This is why I don't believe in responsible gun owners because guns make people trigger happy too often. Specially cops who believe the solution to every problem is to shoot people and their excuse is always their life was in danger.

Is our society so bad that our police force is trained to kill without mercy, without any regard for life. without a care in the world whether that person deserved it or not? So sad. Specially when its all on camera and they don't seem to care that its recording.

  • Google+ New Feature - Shared +1s
And The Extras You May Have Missed
    ⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤⌤

So there’s a lot of buzz (pun intended) on Google+ over this new Google+ feature that shares +1s from you to your followers stream and will also share !=s from those you follow on to your stream but it only works based on how its set up by the person +1ing the post as to who can see these +1ed posts.

This is my day one preliminary review on this feature and here’s what I have learned and experienced so far. Perhaps because so many have already decided to turn this feature off by changing their settings I have not seen this spamming of my stream as has been suggested by many posts. I find a post here in there on my home stream and unless I am actually paying really close attention I may actually not notice them at first. According to +Shimrit Ben-Yair's posts http://goo.gl/JHnOm Google will only share +1ed posts occasionally which to me means it won’t spam my stream as some suggest it will. Considering some have opted to stay out of this my stream will have even less now so I am less likely to see the problem. Personally I like the idea of seeing a +1ed post from someone I follow since sharing posts can be time consuming and most people who share (from experience) don’t even add a comment on the posts they share. I feel like I may be missing out on great stuff just because some choose to avoid the feature before giving it a try and then making a judgement. But, they have the right to choose so I won’t hold it against them.

I did however notice a feature no one mentioned, one that can help those who have had posts +1ed get more followers and those who see these +1ed posts from their circles find someone new to add to their circles. Like the image shows below a post that was shared by  Google+ from a +1 has a new button next to the share button that allows you to add the author of the post right from the post itself. This will make it easy for everyone to get new followers and add new people to their circles based on +1ed posts from their circles that may have content of interest to them.

One last thing I noticed about these posts is that because its not a shared post by the person who +1ed it, +1s and comments made on the post go straight to the original author as opposed to those posts that are shared where comments and +1s go to the person who shared the posts. While I don’t mind everyone getting getting a piece of the action (getting comments and +1s on the posts they shared), I have always felt that original posts that are worth getting a lot of attention should benefit from the comments made from every share and +1 from shares as well. Not sure how this would work but considering posts are limited to 500 comments the original author doesn’t see the other comments from shared posts unless he/she checks every shared post which can be tedious. Maybe a counter on the original posts to show how many collected comments from shared posts would be interesting, unique and useful. After all, some of the people who share posts can have higher engagements than the original author and not everyone who engages with these shared posts add the original author or even engage in the original posts.

But the shared +1ed posts allow for the original author to get the credit for the comments thanks to the person who +1ed it. I consider that to be good. I get a lot more +1s than I do shares and would be nice to see one of my posts that was +1ed by someone with a higher engagement get more attention thanks to that +1.

So this is my preliminary review. I will have a stronger opinion a week from now as to how it has worked out so far. Maybe if I am lucky this can help my stuff get more attention if I can get more people to +1 my posts, especially highly engaged people because I like the attention.  :+D

  • The Google+ Hater Never Give Up

I'm a big fan of +Philip DeFranco , or at least I was until today. Now I am a bit disappointed. Why? Because he is another example of the ridiculous people who continue to deny Google+'s existence, who continue to claim that only a handful of people actually use it.

I'm sure he would probably excuse his comment as a joke, that's what they always do, but I find this annoying now. Its the reason i stopped watching Lamarr Wilson's Youtube channel. Enough with the Google+ "Ghost Town" argument. Its gotten old and ridiculous and makes you sound ignorant.

I have a lot of love for you +Philip DeFranco but you are starting to push me away.

  • My Game Of Thrones Review - Anxiously Waiting For Season 4

After a week and a half of binging on the episodes I finally watched all 3 seasons of Game of Thrones and am ready for the next season, waiting with extreme anticipation.

So, now that I am caught up, what are my thoughts on the show so far?

Well I have to say that so far I love the show. I'm a big fan of movies and TV shows that revolve around the whole Kings, Knights and castle themes and even more when there is magic and mythical creatures involved. As a child I liked watching the cartoon King Arthur And The Nights Of Justice and most recently have seen the LOTR trilogy several times over and am currently following The Hobbit trilogy. As much of a sci fi, space/tech junkie as I am (have seen every Star Trek TV show and movie several times over), I get a good kick out of watching swords clash, shields bang, dragons fly and sorcerers zap. Some of my favorite movies are those like Clash Of the Titans (both old and new version), Conan The Barbarian (both old and new version) and even Black Knight (which was a comedy but still fun to watch).

But lets be realistic here. Game Of Thrones has a style all of its own, typical of shows you would find on HBO. Its the true definition of a rollercoaster ride with twists at evry corner. Just when you think you have it all figured out you find yourself surprised and confused by what happens next. Its the one show where no one is untouchable, where everyone has a bullseye on them at all times and you just never know when the arrow, knife or sword will eventually hit it dead center. And new characters are abound. It doesn't go a few episodes before a new person is introduced, one that carries a lot of importance in the events to come and yet may not last many episodes afterwards because someone is always thirst for blood and man do they use a lot of blood in this series.

One thing is certain about the show, missing an episode can throw you off entirely, specially when each one is an hour long. You see, not only do things move and change really fast in each episode, there are about 5 or 6 stories, all related to each other in some way, shape or form, playing at the same time. A child who became a king but is still controlled by his mother and grandfather, a son who went to war to avenge his father's death and save his sisters, a group of wildlings who want to take back what is theirs, an army of the dead returns after a thousand years of hiding, a bastard son trying to save his friends and family and a girl with 3 dragons, a huge almost invincible army and the loyalty of her free people who is determined to reclaim her title as queen of the 7 realms. And lets not forget the love/lust of a sister looking for her captured brother and a dwarf trying to be the conscience of the most powerful family in the kingdom. There truly are enough stories to keep anyone busy and hooked.

My favorite character so far is Tyrion Lannister. I love his annoying, smartass, but caring and respectful attitude. He is accepting of who he is and it doesn’t seem to slow him down in the least. My second favorite is Daenerys Targaryen, also known as Khaleesi. I love how she is fearless and commands respect with just her look, and her dragons of course. She is the one I am most anxious to see what she will accomplish with the massive army she is gathering and her loyal, free followers. I also like Ayra Stark because she is so daring and passionate about what she believes in; her brother Bran Stark who’s a smart boy with a cool power that allows him to get into peoples and animals minds and then there’s Jaime Lannister, the guy you love to hate and hate to love. Getting past his… interesting relationship with his sister (bizarre but interesting), I love how he is so proud, so confident and so cool all at the same time, even when he’s one hand short. I may not like him because he’s one of the guys I can’t wait to see die (specially after all the unexpected deaths) but he definitely adds to the show.

As for hating people, I hate Joffrey Baratheon, the most annoying child I have ever seen on TV. I enjoy when his grandfather brings him down a few notches. He’s the one I wanna see dead the most, but at the same time without him the show would be rather boring. I look forward to seeing him face off against Khaleesi as I hope that will eventually happen since he’s in control of that which she wants.

All in all this show is awesome. Its like watching a more realistic version of the LOTR, with a bit of magic and mythical creatures thrown in. I highly recommend you watch it if you haven’t. I did my best not to spoil it too much here but its hard to give a review without a few spoilers.

What do you think? Will you be watching it? Have you watched it already? What do you think will happen next? And don’t spoil it for me if you already read the books. I was thinking of looking for the audiobooks to listen to them.

  • The Return Of The 80's - Which 80's Movie Would You Like To See Remade?

In a recent post earlier I shared another post that stated that David Bowie is making a comeback with a new single. David if one of many 80's music icons known mostly by his hit single David Bowie - Let's Dance. I am excited by the idea of a new single and look forward to it.

I have always said the 80's would make a comeback and so far signs are pointing to this happening. For example recently a modern version of the movie Footloose was released and while not exactly an example of a great remake it does show signs that its something people want.

So I ask you, what movie would you love to see be remade, hopefully, one worth watching? Not a sequel but a remake.

So long suckers. Now you know what God's real plan is, to teach you idiots a lesson on how people should really be treated, with dignity. YOU'RE FIRED!!!!

  • LOL, remember watching this video for the first time back around the time Google+ started. I thought it was the funniest video I had ever seen. Still gets a good chuckle out of me. Of course this is an exaggerated version of this song as they stretched it to 1 hour, still, its funny enough to see it for at least a minute or so.

  • RESHARE:

    Reshared text:
Goodbye Comcast Cable, The Time Has Come To Cut The Cord

It took a while, but I finally reached the point where I can happily call Comcast and tell them "yes, I would like to cancel my cable TV subscription and only keep my Internet service".

I had been reluctant to cut the cord. After all of these years watching TV the "normal" way, by changing channels, waiting for specific times of the day and specific days of the week to see the shows I wanted to see, it was hard to break the habit. When it came to movies Blockbuster was the way to go if not the local smaller video clubs for the latest and greatest and some oldies but goodies (and the occasional still-in-theaters that friends just happen to have handy). I eventually moved to Netflix for my DVDs. Made perfect sense; one small price, as many movies as I could watch in a month ensuring I mailed the DVD back the next day I saw it.

But then one day I decided to give Netflix Streaming a try. How could I ignore a month free of movies and TV shows? Heck I even decided to give Hulu a try just to see which one was better. After all, at the time $8 was a lot when you already have a $50 cable bill. Sadly both services disappointed me. I had better chances of finding movies at Blockbuster or Netflix own DVD service even if it was more expensive or not instant. They just didn't have a great selection at the time (this was several years ago when streaming was just getting more common). I ended up not going beyond the free trials.

But that all changed a little over a year ago when I gave Netflix another chance. After all Blockbuster had already gone the way of the VCR plus they had gotten to expensive to even bother (probably one big reason why pirating became so big) and Netflix was allowing both DVD and Streaming on the same plan for just a couple of bucks more so why not. At first it didn't work well because although Netflix had more movies this time around I was still struggling to find any new stuff or any good older stuff. They were still lacking too much. But this is where I made the mistake.

See, the idea of cutting the cord had very little to do with movies. It had more to do with TV shows. I didn't need cable to watch movies after all. That's what Blockbuster and Netflix was for. The key to online streaming was the TV shows. Once I realized Netflix had a great library of TV shows that I had not seen in a while plus a few new ones, and the fact that as time went by more TV shows were being added including a lot of new ones, throw in Netflix adding their own content plus TV show episodes just a few days or a week after their were aired on TV and Netflix became this awesome services I could not live without. Eventually the movie lists started getting better and while it still lacks a lot of new movies and some good old ones Netflix does from time to time surprise me.

But Netflix was not my only option. having also starting to do my shopping online I took advantage of Amazon's Prime subscription to get cheaper shipping rates and as a bonus I had access to their video streaming service. Sure Amazon Prime pales in comparison to Netflix but I discovered that Amazon prime had several TV shows that were part of the Prime subscription (I didn't have to pay extra for) that Netflix didn't, specially kids cartoons. Considering it was paid in full for the entire year it was easy to use it even though they failed to make a deal with Google and allow a real Amazon prime app to be created for GoogleTV, still it was an excellent adding to my netflix subscription.

But the final nail in the Comcast subscription coffin came when I decided to give Hulu Plus one more try. My kids had asked me to get it because like Amazon prime, Hulu Plus had some kid shows that netflix didn't. So this past Christmas holidays I tried out their 2 weeks free service and low and behold Hulu Plus turned out to be nearly as good as Netflix when it came to TV shows. Interesting enough due to the contracts between the networks and the streaming services some TV shows were either on one service but not the others or one had some seasons while the other had the rest. In the end All three services complemented each other just nicely.

But it wasn't just that Netflix, Amazon Prime and Hulu Plus had great content between the three and that my yearly cost between them was only $270 vs $600 from Comcast (not the crappy basic subscription) but that with several devices in the house capable of streaming from all three services (2 Roku boxes, a GoogleTv box, a PS3, 3 Nexus 4s, a Nexus 7, 2 PCs, a Nintendo Wii and even a smart TV) it was difficult at first for several devices to play one service at the same time without paying more but now we have options.

And it only gets better. These streaming services are just the beginning. Throw in free Youtube content from great Youtube channels like IGN, Machinima, MKB, The Young Turks, Just For Laughs and many more, Podcast shows from online networks like Revision3, Twit (which both have a ton of web shows) and CNet, access to TV networks from around the world streamed online, all the apps with more video content from cooking shows to how tos, live events to the latest cat videos and yes, even some questionable content that I wouldn't tell people openly on this social media site to view but I can't deny its out there plus access to streaming news; and what you have is an incredible number of reasons why cutting the cord is worth it to me at this point.

I get all the video content my heart desires online and if I need some local content and maybe feel the need to remember what commercial interruptions are (one needs an excuse to run to the bathroom when one is reluctant to hit the pause button because the show is just too good to stop watching) I can always watch my free local channels with my HD antenna.

So there you have it. Once I pay my next bill I will cut off my cable subscription and breath a little easier knowing I will be $600 richer a year from now. Unless I find another streaming service that will add to the awesome collection of content I already have but another $8 it might be worth it.  Who says you have to pick just one streaming service?  :+D

  • A challenge to the G+ community

I just can’t help but ask this question. In relation to the whole #OWS movement, given the chance, would you mind being part of the 1%? In other words, if you had the opportunity to change your financial status from what you currently have to being a millionaire or billionaire, if a business opportunity came about that could make your financial status reach that of the 1% or close enough, would you take it?

I would like to see if people have the ability to respond to a simple question without giving a lot of BS, run around, avoid the question, turn the topic around, attack the author responses. I would like to know what are you true feelings about this movement. Can you answer this question with a legitimate, honest, truthful response and nothing more?

  • Google+ Feature Request

  • Look what I got myself yesterday? Say Hello To My New Friend, Mr Chromecast

For $35 plus a $6 credit on Google Play for a free movie rental or anything else, this little device was a steal. I had been wanting one since I first saw it announced and now I have it. And to make it even better it works with my GoogleTv box. Basically, its the best of both worlds in one.

As you can see on the image I have my Chromecast connected to the HDMI in of my Logitech Revue box so I can have the Chromecast display thru the Revue and still use all of the Revue features. I get to have my cake and eat it too. Once I upgrade my GoogleTV box to one of the new ones, perhaps the Sony one then my cake will be even sweeter.

I am one happy tech geek!!!

  • OK, so I hear people are blacking out their profile pictures to show their support for Zimmerman being found guilty. At least that's what I understand. I am in favor of him being found guilty but if he is found not guilty I can accept that too because I wanna still believe that we still have some sense of fairness in our legal system and since I am no lawyer and was not there when the incident happened I can't claim without any doubt that Zimmerman is guilty. I believe he is based on what I have seens so far but still.

Nonetheless I won't be joining this blackout because there are too many confusing meanings behind it and I don't want to give the wrong impression. Instead I will simply wait and see what the verdict is and hope justice has been served, whether Zimmerman is found guilty or not.

  • Just goes to show how great our language is, its called Graphics Interchange Format, its spelled gif but the legit way to read it is jif. Gotta love English in the US. Why? Who knows considering the majority of people call it gif, prefer to call it if and makes more sense to call it gif because the g is for graphic not jraphic.

Do you think there should be a limit as to how much money any single person should be allowed to make regardless how profitable their business is and if so what would be that limit?

  • Don't Let Google+ Get The Facebook Bug

I'm not a fan of Facebook. Its boring, cluttered and not designed to be open like Google+. I love my family and friends but they are the last people I want to get controversial with and Facebook doesn't exactly scream interaction unless its family gossip.

But, I don't care much if people want to use it. Not anymore anyways. I use to be a big proponent of getting rid of FB but these days I accept some people like being on FB, like my wife and kids. But I have an even bigger reason for FB to stay active.

Google+ was the best thing that ever happened to me when it comes to social media and Internet entertainment. On here I found exactly what I was looking for: interaction, new people, quality discussions and great content. I was tired of the same old religious posts (which I have no issues with I just get bored of seeing one every other post), what I ate from breakfast/lunch/dinner photos and the usual family drama. FB just never worked for me.

Its been 3 years now and I love it here on G+ but, as G+ gets better and more people give it a try I have noticed that some of the things that made FB annoying are starting to flow into my stream. I have no problem with people sharing what they think is interesting pictures, links or opinions and rants. But... I am not looking forward to seeing the kind of posts that made FB worse than what it already was.

One example are those posts that ask you to share if you agree with the opinion on the post. In most cases these posts have images that talk about child abuse, animal abuse, gay rights and Constitutional Rights being destroyed. I find it hard it believe that most people on here would disagree with those topics and somehow not feel compelled to share these posts but its annoying. Its annoying to be put in a position where you are either forced to share a posts because you also feel strongly about the topic or not share it because you find it annoying but at the same time you may feel bad that you didn't share it because you feel strongly about that topic.

One can easily solve this by creating a post of your own expressing your feelings on the topic, but this won't stop your stream from possibly getting cluttered by these "please share if you feel the same" posts. the same kind of posts that made FB annoying. Before me know it we will start seeing what I ate from breakfast/lunch/dinner, thank God and family drama posts daily which will also be annoying and start turning G+ into FB.

Please don't let that happen. I know you may feel strong about certain topics but don't force your followers to share a post as a way to prove they agree too. Write a post about you thoughts on the topic, why you feel so strongly about them and the ask your followers to share their thoughts on it and maybe even write a post of their own on the topic.

Don't let Google+ become yet another Facebook. Keep the content awesome.

  • I hope I am not wasting my time here posting an inquiry that won't be acknowledged by those who moderate this place but I'll take a chance anyways.

I am wondering if the people from +Google, especially those from +Google+ and +Google+ Developers have heard and may be working on a problem that currently exist with how Google+ handles images that are posted.

Basically the issue is when ever we post an image to Google +, G+ uploads the image to a folder called Photos from posts. The strange thing is that each image is shared in a post is saved in an individual folder inside the Photos from posts folder. It can't be seen from Google+ but if you go to your picasaweb page you can see the individual folders for each image you share that is stored in the Photos from posts folder. Only if you share more than one image in a single post does it include more than one image in a folder.

The problem is Google+ folders have limits, 1000 images per folder or 1000 folders inside a folder. Because of this anyone who shares a lot of images daily can easily reach this limit. And I have already seen this happen twice. Once you reach this limit you can no longer share images without deleting old images which in turn deletes old posts. To add insult to injury, because these are in individual folders you have to delete them one at a time and likely also delete the folder afterwards in order to create the space necessary to continue sharing images since G+ does not give an option where to store the image one is sharing.

I hope you guys can look into this as its a pretty serious issue that can easily disappoint a lot of G+ fans, mainly those who are photographers and those who use lots of images as part of their style of sharing on G+. Why you have a limit is beyond me but this need to be resolved somehow. There is an alternative way to prevent this but it requires too many steps to make it a sensible alternative and makes using G+ share box on the main stream and profile pointless.

Please let us know if anyone is or can look into this. You guys have listened before, I hope you do again. Thanks.

  • R.I.P. Dad, May God Bless Your Soul

I knew when my wife told me my sister needed to talk to me urgently that today was the day, a day I both dreaded and hoped would come. My father passed away this evening.

My heart aches for this is the first time I lose someone really close to me. Oddly enough I didn't have a close relationship with my dad. He made my mom suffer a lot though out the years and he wasn't exactly a role model father. Nonetheless he was my father, he gave me life and he did teach me a few things about life. His mental status was pretty far gone and most people hated him because of his attitude and his arrogance, his mental problems didn't help.

As painful as it may be to know that he is gone forever, that the least words to me were that he didn't want to see me (during one of his mental episodes), I am, in a way, glad the suffering is all over. I am glad he no longer has to suffer the illnesses he had, the anguish of his past, the pain of having lost his oldest son just when he was finally forming a relationship with him and in the process losing any hope of a relationship with his daughter. But more than anything I am glad my mom will no longer have to suffer having to care for him and deal with his constant barrage of insults due to his mental status. She can now move on and be free of him. The same for my sister who was not even his daughter yet took care of him as if she was, taking over my responsibilities as his closest child. To her I owe her a million thanks and more. And lastly, the town can have some peace now that he is no longer there to annoy everyone and insult them anymore.

I am gonna miss you dad. I had high hopes that things would change for the better but they never really did. Nonetheless we still had a few good moments, such as the photo below showing 3 generations of Cortes. I know life did not treat you well and I forgive you for all the suffering you put your family through and I hope you forgive me for not listening to your sound advise and for not being more of a son to you even when I knew your mistakes were not all your fault.

Rest In Peace Carlos Cortes. I Love You Dad.

  • Well, I guess this is what Democrats want for the country. A Gov't that will not only decide whether the food we provide our children is good for them or not but will also force them to eat from the cafeteria to make up for the "lack of nutrition" and then force the parents to pay for it.

Maybe I'm just a bit confused here, but, is this what people really want? A Gov't who will check everything you do and if they deem it bad, inappropriate, not up to standards, dangerous, unhealthy, criminal, etc you will be forced to change it or else?

I honestly can't wait to see how anyone could possibly justify something like this. Please share a situation like this that you may have experienced and felt it was appropriate. Please share cause I find it hard to believe the majority would want such a thing.

  • OK, here is my lame attempt at trying to change my eating habits. I bought this Greek yogurt with strawberries and granola crunch in the hopes of eating healthier foods. The problem is I already have a bad opinion about yogurt because I tried it before and didn't like it. But that was long ago and figured it has to have improved.

Well, its gonna take a lot of effort and toleration because it still taste weird and knowing what its made of doesn't help. Still, I am going to power thru this yogurt and gonna buy other flavors until I find one that works for me because I really need to lose weight and change my eating habits because I get tired to easily these days and I am not even 40 yet.

BTW, I was inspired by +Frederick Wright  so thanks for the inspiration.  :+D

  • Better Late Than Never? More Like Shame On You

Seriously, since day one that I hear that the new Xbox One controller didn't work on Windows PCs straight out of the box while the PS4 controller did I have been pointing out the stupidity that is Microsoft.

How does one create a system and not make it compatible with ones own software right out of the box? Did I miss something here? Come one MS, this was one hell of a blunder, even if its just a simple controller and all it needed were drivers. But considering the PS4 controller worked from the start it makes me wonder just how serious you are taking the Windows OS. Sounds to me like you are caring less and less about your PC gaming counterparts.

Shame on you it took this long.

  • Goodbye Comcast Cable, The Time Has Come To Cut The Cord

  • What's For Lunch Today?

Lets see, I got myself a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant with lettuce with cheetos. Chicken tortilla soup with sour cream and cheese and a piece of chocolate cake with chocolate icing. Not bad. Looks like the only thing I forgot was the nutrition and the balanced diet. Oh well, maybe next time. After all, would be a shame to let this food go to waste.

    Cheers.

I'm gonna give the girl who shared this the benefit of the doubt that she may not have been aware that this image with those words were very inappropriate for an internal office email because, well, she is not exactly a native and thus may think this is simply meant to be cute and may not know that word is rather offensive to the wrong people.

I wish I could say she was smart enough not to include the 2 main attorneys of the office but she did include the Jr attorneys and also the office manager. Odds are she will get called into the attorneys office for this and get a lecture on proper email etiquette and the rest of us could possibly see as "Do's & Don't" about internal and possibly external emails.

I feel kinda bad for her. I'm sure she meant no insult with it but she is definitely gonna hear from someone about this. The entire office is in shock so there is no doubt about it.

So remember, these kinds of images in internal emails, even if the big bosses are not on the email, is a no no. Specially when one or more of the smaller bosses are.

  • Would this really bother you if you didn't believe in God?

One of the rules my job has is to avoid political and religious arguments in the workplace. I can understand such a rule because when it comes to those to particular topics arguments can get heated very easily and we have to remember that we have to work with the other person everyday.

But when the other person is not a co-worker but an employee of a company you do business with and lets say you happen to be an Atheist. Would it really bother you if this person said they would pray for you as the person in my conversation below with AT&T support did after asking me how was my day and I said I was keeping an eye on the storm brewing in the Carribean called Issac?

I am religious so it doesn't bother me, in fact I was thankful. After all what harm could there be in a prayer even if I wasn't a believer? However the moment I saw that I could not help but wonder what would have happened had the person asking for support been an Atheist. Would they have gotten upset at such an offer as to have a prayer made to them that they would contact AT&T in order to have this person punished in some way. I have had my fair share of debates with people who attempt to ridicule my beliefs as if somehow all religious people are the same and therefor deserve to be ridiculed. Some people were down right rude, insulting and if they could would  probably consider actions as stupid as those stated by some religious idiots like the guy who thought it homosexuals should be put in a electrified fenced area and be fed by dropping food from a helicopter.

Its sad that our society has chosen as backwards course where we continue to look for what makes us different so that we can continue to create separation instead of unity. Soon Christmas will be here and the same old "Holiday vs Merry Christmas" argument will start making what is supposed to be "the most wonderful time of the year" into a religious battlefield.

The saying may sound stupid and corny but "Cant we all just get along?"

I switched to Windows 8 the first chance I had. I love using the latest Windows to see whats new, whats better and what sucks. So far my experience has been pretty good. Obviously there's a learning curb with the new Start UI and the lack of the Start Menu. But come on people, its not like you don't try new stuff all the time and learn to use them.

So, how has your experience been so far?

  • Google Glass + Android Smart Watch = Smart Glass Mobile? Hell Yea!!!

Imagine the convenience of a smart phone the size of a watch with all the power and conveniences we see today. Some people would say “the idea sounds interesting but I am not sure I want to look like Michael Knight constantly grabbing my arm and looking or talking to my watch like some crazy guy from the 80’s talking to his really smart car”. But what if you didn’t have to look at your watch the same way you look at your smart phone? What if your watch was simply the hardware that held all the power and software your phone does today but in a smaller, more convenient and maybe even stylish looking device and that the screen was actually right in front of your eyes at all times for convenience?

What if we combined the convenience of size plus the added stylish look of a smart watch with the convenience of Google Glass as the viewing portal to this hardware? Wouldn’t you think this would be the ultimate mobile device? The one you don’t have to pull out every time it rings, every time it notifies you of an incoming msg or every time you want to check the weather, news or movie schedules at the local theater?

I believe Google Glass combined with the rumored Android Smart Watches such as the I’m Watch would be a revolutionary concept where the main hardware sits conveniently on your arm and the Glass sits in front of your eyes. Of course the concept is not perfect. You would still have to look at the watch from time to time but with Glass voice activation it could be as easily as saying “OK Glass. Start Pandora. Play 80’s Playlist” or “OK Glass. Start Barcode Scanner” and voila, scan a barcode with the camera on Glass and get the details of the product in an instant. You could even have a camera mounted on the front of the watch to do video chats. Not like you don’t already look weird talking into a phone when using Skype, Tango or even Hangouts.

I think this could be the perfect combination, the next generation of mobile devices. A hands free concept that can be only half as distracting (or less) as actually looking down at a smart phone and having to use your hands to accomplish tasks.

What do you think? Could the Android Smart Watch be the perfect match to make Google Glass a real success and possibly replace smart phones in the future? Please keep an open mind to this concept, current versions of each device may not currently have the power, software or features necessary to accomplish such a revolutionary concept at this moment but we all know both devices will continue to evolve, be updated and improved and can eventually become this crazy concept of Smart Glass Mobile I dreamed up just now that I don’t know if someone else may have already thought of.

  • Wow, the #santagift  stream is making me tear (tears of joy) reading all the stories of people already getting gifts from the awesome Google+ community. Google+ rocks.

To be honest I feel a bit ashamed of my list as I did it just for the fun of it but unless Donald Trump is hanging around Google+ I don't really expect to see any of those showing up at my door, LOL. I am, however looking forward to using my Amazon Prime benefits to get a gift or two out to get to their destinations on time before Christmas. It won't be easy. There are so many people and so many lists. How do you all even pick who to send what? I looked at just a few and felt kinda bad that I didn't look at the others.

Hey +Secret Santa , any hints on how to pick someone? This is harder than I thought. LOL.

BTW, I know this is a rather strange question but seeing as I don't use Facebook barely, is there a Secret Santa on Facebook as well or can Google+ claim to stand out for such an awesome idea and group of people?

  • Black Republicans, how do you do it?

I would like to find a Black Republican on Google+ who reads this post and would explain to me how is it that you believe the Republican Party is the right party for you when there are people like this who believe slavery was a "blessing in disguise'. Please explain to me how. I really want to know how you can ignore this kind of belief and still follow a party who seems intent on not only believing slavery was a blessing but also making sure to make it harder for you to vote by passing voter ID laws that prevent more legal voters from voting than it prevent voter fraud and also think you are moochers of system.

    I will never truly understand.

  • A Match Made In Geek Heaven

I think this Moto 360 smart watch with Android Wear may be the first gadget I will buy almost as soon as it comes out. I can't help but drool over how awesome it looks and how awesome the current apps and concept apps are. I myself spend a little bit of time trying to figure out what else can a smartwatch do that doesnt ruin the experience. I din't think media playing or controlling should be part of the features as I find this to be rather annoying. I don't see myself wanting to use my watch to play/pause a Netflix video on my Chromecast, GoogleTv or even Roku. I don't see myself using my smartwatch to listen to music, that's what my smartphone is for.

However, I can think of one thing related to music. Seeing as Android Wear is being (from my understanding) based around Google Now, then it would only be natural to have the Shazam app work on it.

Imagine being able to quickly search for a song by simply swiping your smartwatch to find Shazam and tap the screen. It already has a mic for Google Now voice searches, why not use it for this. Heck, maybe these apps can be voice activated like "ok watch, Shazam" to run the app. Saves on taping the screen so much, saves on smudges.

  • The Superbowl Is Here, Time To Party

Sorry 49er fans, but the Ravens are gonna kick your ass. It's just the way things go. You may think your team is the best, that your quarterback is da man, that you defense is solid and your offense unstoppable. But, us Raven fans, well we think the same.

Well, the truth is I am not really a fan of either team, but, I have to pick one and I pick the Raven... because the wife likes the Ravens and if I want my chicken wings for today I also have to pick the Ravens.  :+)

Anyways, looking forward to the game and maybe some back and forth banter here are G+. It will be just like during the elections, a who lot of crazy posts about how the event is going and how happy or mad you are that your side is kicking as or getting schooled.

See ya on the 50 yard line.

  • One Step Foward Two Steps Back? Why Are New Devices With Old Concept Gaining Traction With Consumers?

I don't get it. I just don't understand how is it that as time goes by technology continues to evolve and become better, nicer and more advanced than previous models and all of a sudden a new product is introduced that obviously has an "old school", "antique" concept to it and all of a sudden people go crazy for it as if this is the next step in the evolution of tech but to me its more like taking a few steps back and making it seem like new.

One example is Minecraft https://minecraft.net/, a game that has become extremely popular yet it has kept me from wanting to try it due to the fact that it resembles an 80's 8 bit game. Heck, I have played Minecraft mods from such as L4D2 and I couldn't get away from it fast enough because I just couldn't stand the whole block look of the game, the maps and the characters. I felt like I was looking at a distorted image. I mean, how is a guy like me expected to play with a game that looks old while use to playing games and video with today's high definition looks? I don't have a clue how this is so popular but it is and who am I to argue right?

Now we have the Pebble Watch, a startup that got millions of dollars to develop this watch which connects to your smartphone via bluetooth and allows you to get notifications on your watch. Now, bare in mind I personally am a phone of digital phones like those from Casio. Use to be my favorite watches with all the screens within the watch. But the Pebble Watch? Now only is it not touchscreen but its monochrome. Really? I mean, I get the point of battery life, but even then people claim an average of 2 to 5 days of battery life. From a device as small as a watch, with a small screen and monochrome. You would think it would last more than 2 to 5 days. After all, how often do you recharge a watch? Never till now? Who remembers to do it anyways? Its a watch, its always been expected to last a long time.

Considering there are rumors of an Apple watch that will have all the glory of iOS, likely including its awesome color and pixels plus considering all the latest flagship phones getting higher and higher resolutions on their screens, how is it that people are excited over an monochrome based watch? Especially one worth $150.00.

Now, granted I recently saw another smart watch called the I'm Watch http://www.imsmart.com/en which is basically what the Pebble Watch should have been, a color touchscreen, bluetooth smart watch. The downside is the battery last half as long and is more than twice the price of the Pebble Watch, but its in color and touch screen. They just need to make it last longer and cheaper. So, I can see why people would rather get a Pebble Watch but still, monochrome color? That's like going back to when monochrome was cool in handheld games and PDAs.

Am I making sense here? Why are we willing to settle for old tech passed as new? This is weird to me.

  • Ban on offending Prophet Mohamed? These people must be crazy

I draw the line at this point. I dont give a damn if Muslims burn down half the world because someone insults their prophet. To allow such a thing to become reality would be not only an insult to every other religion in the world but also an insult to freedom everywhere.

Muslims can believe what ever they want but just like Jesus is constantly mocked and Christians are not killing everyone in sight when it happens, Mohamed is not getting preferential treatment. His just a religious figure for a religion just like every other.

I'm tired of this bullshit of Muslim calling Islam the religion of peace and how not all Muslims are terrorist, and how Muslims are not as bad as we all think and yet there is constant death and destruction around their religion and culture and now this.

If they wanna prove to me they are not all that we see on TV, read on the net and hear on the radio than I wanna see so major Muslim figures come out with millions of Muslims behind them saying this request is stupid and unnecessary. Otherwise my opinion on Muslims is gonna change pretty fats. They are certainly not winning any new friends these days.

  • Morning Fellow Plussians!

Yup, its a new week for me. Friday was my last day of work and although I lost my job I am not depressed. I have a lot of motivation and have very little doubt that I won't find a new job, even better than the one before.

I spent a rather interesting weekend. I am not much of a drinker but decided I wanted to celebrate leaving the job. I have been hating that job for years and had been wanting to leave all this time but sometimes one gets too comfortable and becomes too lazy to look for a job when you already have one, on that at the time felt secure. But, here I am jobless but there is no such thing as job security. I was just as easily replaced by Hindu workers in India as I was given the job.

I am thankful I was given a decent severance package that will give me some time to relax and then hunt for a new job, plus take care of a few personal problems I have.

I am of high spirits today. Feels good not to be in that office even though I in a way would rather still have my job. But, I think its for the best because I may have never had the desire to move on had I not been forced to leave. It's time for a new attitude, its time for me to go after the big fish, the grand prize, the higher position. Its time for me to become a new Chuck. Not just for me but for my family.

I'll keep you all posted on my progress. Thanks for listening.

    :+)

  • Gotta love the people of this country. Everything goes to shit and rather than blaming themselves for this crap they blame everyone else. Banks are evil, well maybe you should not use them anymore. Big corporations are evil, then stop buying their products. Ever ask yourself why Apple is one of the biggest companies in the world? because millions not only purchased the first iPhone and iPad made when they didn't really need it, but they went and upgraded every year to the next iPhone and iPad when the previous one was still working. The economy was going to hell, but Apple sales were thru the roof. How the fuck does that work?

People losing jobs, losing homes, going hungry and plain suffering; but lines at Best Buy and other stores days before the release of the iPad and iPhones were growing. Amazon just released a new Android tablet, thousands of pre-orders have already been made. This just doesn't make sense. Thousands are protesting all across the country because the economy is screwed blaming big corporations and banks all while these same people blow thousands on the very same products these corporations produce and using credit cards given to them by the very banks they are bitching about.

The hypocrisy of the average person here in the US is beyond belief. I find myself unable to decide who to agree with because on the one hand I think Corporate America is part responsible for the shit hole we are in and on the other hand the American people are also part responsible for being so ignorant and spending without question, without care. And if I had a third hand I would also blame this Gov't (current and previous administrations) for fooling people into believing they can fix it all. But you can't put a band-aid on a wound without stopping the bleeding first.

We, the people, are responsible for the crap that has happened in the past few decades. It was us who voted these clowns into office. It was use who signed all those mortgages we could not afford and are now in foreclosure. It was use who purchased all the iPhones and iPads just because we wanted to be cool making these companies millions. It was us who opened accounts in these large banks looking for all the extra perks smaller local banks lacked. It was us who decided fast food was faster and cheaper even if it was bad for you. It was us who decided to purchase gas guzzling cars and SUVs just to drive around. It was us who decided to think about ourselves, about #1, about me, myself, and I about how I can make myself happy, how I can get more for less, how I can get things for free, how I can reach the American Dream from the couch in my livingroom with my laptop or iPad by posting onto Facebook, Twitter and even Google+.

We the people screwed everything up and we don't even have the balls to look in the mirror and protest ourselves. Instead we go out and blame Republicans, Democrats, Conservatives, Liberals, rich, poor, the Tea party, the Obama Administration; we blame everyone but those actually responsible for all this bullshit. Ourselves.

I am all for teaching those who abuse us a lesson. But lets not forget that sometimes those people can also be found in the mirror looking right back at you.

This is just my 2 cents. Have a nice day.
