They say when it rains, it pours...but I think I've been hit with ahurricane!
Today is a very sad day for me, both emotionally and financially. :o( Not even sure where to begin, so I guess I'll describe the photos below - so that you know what I am talking about...
The photos are of one of my apartments, the rounded wooden frame - with glass brick above, is a double headed shower (separate from the tub). There are little square openings on the outside of the wooden frame, which has lights within it - which lights up the glass brick above.
Needless to say, this is a very unique shower, and so is the overall apartment for that matter (Victorian loft apartment). A total bachelor pad, to say the least - with many unique characteristics throughout - including a pull out bar, and built-in speaker jacks throughout.
Anyway, it was discovered by the tenant last week, that we had a mold problem steeping up into the shower floor, but it was very small. Since she's highly allergic to mold, so she has since moved out (so there's a month's rent loss).
We get in there over the weekend, tear down the wooden frame - only to discover, that it's NOT a small amount of mold! In fact, it covers the whole underneath the shower area (and sink - see photo), as well as steeps 1/2 way under the built-in couch area (see photo) too!
This of course means tearing it all out, treat the mold, as well as put in a new floor, and basically re-build a whole new bathroom - which of course will not look as cool, as it once did (see photos).
This just breaks my heart to say the least, I am in such disbelief - that I haven't been able to cry about it yet! Between loosing this apartments original charm, and what it's going to do to my wallet (between $4K - $10K), I know I'll be due for a good cry at some point! :o(
Well that's the excitement of my day, so how's your day going G+er's? (Hopefully much better than mine!) ;o)
AnAppleproduct, that even a Android fan would consider...
Since this is clearly an Apple day, I thought I'd share with both my Apple and Android fans (circles) out there, this delicious looking apple pie (all that's missing is ice cream sandwich ). ;o)
Hopefully Engadget will do another chart like this, after next weeks' Nexus Prime is launched. But as of now/today (IMO) clearly the SGS 2 is the winner here.
Very good opinion write-up, by David from TMoNews...and kind of sad too.
While I really didn't have much of an interest in this year's iPhone, I was hoping it would have come to T-Mobile too. I fear that my beloved T-Mobile won't survive the other 3 major carriers without it. :o(
This of course is assuming that the AT&T-Mobile deal indeed doesn't happen, and T-Mobile considers trying to stand alone and compete against the other 3 - without selling itself to the next highest bidder.
Now that the other 3 carriers all have the iPhone (Sprint's edition probably being the best priced plans), I don't think T-Mobile will be able to compete with this. T-Mobile was already in 4th place, I think this will hurt them in the long run.
Here's still hoping that the AT&T deal fails, and that it's long live T-Mobile, and that Apple is just waiting for the deal to fail - before it bothers with T-Mobile's bands.
In the meantime, I am REALLY looking forward to the Nexus Prime! =o)
RESHARE: Ooooh! I am so excited I could sh*t rainbows! iWhat? ;o)
Thx for sharing this +Joseph Lee! We need all the leaks we can get, to hold us over until 10-11-2011! =o)
Reshared text: Ok, the notification of this hitting the internets woke me up lol, but it was worth it. Here's Samsung's first teaser trailer of the Nexus Prime, hot on the heals of the disappointing iPhone 4S news. I can't wait until next tuesday!
Today we lost a legend, and a brilliant man. No matter what your preference is when it comes to OS on your PC or Phone - there's no denying what this man has brought to our technology today...
Good morning G+er's! Who wouldn't enjoy some Nexus Prime news, to go with their morning coffee - I say; bring it!
*Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich *9mm thin *4.65-inch 1280 x 720-pixel Super AMOLED HD with curved glass *TI OMAP 4460 dual-core Cortex A9 processor clocked at 1.2GHz *1GB of RAM *32GB of built-in storage *5-megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel in the front *1080p HD video capture support LTE/HSPA depending on carrier *Wi-Fi a/b/g/n *NFC *1,750 mAh battery One little disappointment though (and hopefully not correct) is the 5 megapixel camera on the back, 1.3-megapixel in the front.
Maybe it's just me, but that seems a little low - in the camera spec side, this day and age. Yes, no...?
So assuming that BGR is right (or their source is rather), these are the Nexus Prime specs! Enjoy! =o)
Well, like a lot of you I too am a little bummed to wake up to the news of Google and Samsung postponing the upcoming CITIA event, but I totally understand, and respect their choice to do so.
While Samsung's news press didn't come right out and say it, it's obvious that the decision to postpone is due to the recent passing of Steve Jobs.
Whether this decision was made out of respect (showing class on both Google and Samsung's part), or whether it was a smart business move (due to all press focus on Jobs right now), it was still the right thing to do...
But not all is a total bummer of a morning, thanks to my girl +Melissa Hamilton sharing a little Nexus Prime porn news and video with me! ;o) Hopefully in the days to come (until it's officially announced), we'll see even more news and leaks!
Well look what showed up on my doorstep yesterday!
These 4 little guys ran away from +Omar Trujillo's place, to come live with me, because Omar has so many of them running around his house - they felt like they needed a little more attention.
Needless to say, they ran away to the right place, as I absolutely adore them - they are SO cute! =o)
I would like to add a couple more to my collection, Cupcake and the Snowman one's - but these are a good start!
If for whatever reason God forbid the Nexus Prime doesn't come to T-Mobile, or it's going to be awhile (as in 3-6 months before we get it), then this will be my next phone.
While it's no Nexus Prime, it's a good second choice (IMO)! =o)
PC Mag's comparison of the 2 upcoming 42 HSPA+ T-Mobile phones
On the fence which power-horse to get? PC Mag has written up a really good comparison of the 2 upcoming phones for T-Mobile.
"The T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II ($229 with contract) and the HTC Amaze 4G ($259 with contract) are similar: they're both big, dual-core Android-powered phones with all the latest features. Both phones have 16GB of storage, 1.5-Ghz Qualcomm processors, and even NFC."
"The GS2, T-Mobile says, is a "media and gaming" device. The Amaze 4G is a superior camera phone. I think decisions will be made based on subtle differences of taste and, of course, of testing."
A good read, for more info on both of these phones - and as I just posted, SGS 2 will be my second choice if Google fails T-Mobile if we don't get the Nexus Prime.
But to be fair, I'll probably go into the store and play with both of these bad boyz! ;o)
Anyway, who do you think would be a good choice to play Steve Jobs?
UPDATE: Having gave this some more thoughts, I think Noah Wyle would be a good choice. If you're not sure who he is, he used to play on the hit TV series ER. Still thinking of other good choices, but this one is is what I have thought of so far... =o)
With all the ugliness happening in the world these days, it's nice to see the joy from an innocent child - whom has no idea of what the real world is like.
Yeah, makes me want to be a kid again, just for that reason alone...
Reshared text: Dig Deep Into Who Interacts With You With Amis Google+/Google+ Friends [#Google+]
+Simon Malherbe wrote this very cool app that shows everyone who has interacted with a specified Google+ user over their last 100 posts. It is broken down by +1s, Shares, and Comments.
You can see who is publicly interacting with you most. Very cool. A little scary obviously, but cool nonetheless. The output actually bold and enlarges those with the most activity in each section so they stand out.
Warning: Users with mega-activity seem to overwhelm the interface a bit; unresponsive script errors. But for normal queries it works fantastic.
For those of you who saw my earlier posting last week, below are the updated photos, which were taken yesterday - talk about a cringing and tearful moment... :o(
While the biggest contribitors of the show have dropped out (Google & Samsung), CITIA will still be happening.
Sometimes the keynote round-table discussion between the 3-4 big carrier's is fun. Watch the gloves come off (usually between AT&T and Sprint), so this could be interesting!
"Nonetheless, we expect some interesting keynotes including a roundtable bringing AT&T, Verizon and Sprint together, but we’re also looking forward to surprising device launches."
"Remember in "Pretty Woman" when Richard Gere takes Julia Roberts to the opera for the first time and he says that people either love it or hate it?..."
"Google+ hasn't been getting much love from users in recent days--its traffic reportedly plummeted 60 percent from its peak--but the most damning criticism seems to be coming from Google itself...."
UPDATE: To my earlier posting about the family that called 911 from a corn maze, I know some of you ( +Rebecca Harrison ) were wondering about the 911 call itself - here it is...
Turns out they were ONLY 25 feet from the exit! ^smh^ Too funny!
And here's my original posting on this story, in case you missed it...
Yeah, I know a few guys that could take a lesson or 2 from these crickets...
"So why guard his gal? A gentlemanly cricket fosters a longer relationship, with more mating and more offspring. So chivalry may not be dead—but it’s not entirely altruistic either."
Does your battery sux since 2.3.6 update (or more noticeable)?
My Nexus S battery was never all that great, but I could easily go a day and half to 2 days, with light to medium usage - now I am lucky if I get a full days worth on light usage!
Google?Samsung? I don't know, but get it fixed in your next update - plz!
The XDA user of this article seems to think it's Samsung, however - it's not an issue to just Samsung phones - so that would lead me to think it's the latest update...?
No matter who's the blame for the recent lousy battery life - just please get it fixed ASAP! Thank you...
"Titus, a relationship expert, says women just don’t need men anymore: "When a man can leave what he needs to leave in a cup, and a woman can take that and have a child…Men are expendable."
True, but I think the old fashion way (having sex), is more fun!
"Some whispers say that it would be October 19th, but that’s just a speculation. October 19th is when Apple will have a memorial service for Steve Jobs, and since respect to Jobs’ death was the reason behind the CTIA cancellation it’s very unlikely that Samsung will go with that exact date."
Comedy and Eye Candy? Not a bad combination to help get your day going...
"The video plays like a Chippendales meets Caesar's Palace production of an old time cooking show, what with the delicious cheesecakes being passed around amongst White's mighty men. And best of all, part of the proceeds from the single will benefit the Los Angeles Zoo..."
Can't speak for anyone else, but personally I am not only ready for this event - but I am also ready for a real date to be announced! So let's hope BGR is right! ;o)
"Samsung’s event kicks off at 10:00 a.m. local time in Hong Kong, or 10:00 p.m. Eastern Time on October 18th."
This would be 8 PM my time on the 18th - you can bet I'll be watching every minute of this!
TGIF - and Happy iPhone 4S to those of you getting one!
Are you in a line like this, waiting to get the new iPhone?
A friend of mine is at an Apple store here in Denver, and posted (from his BB) to the other social network, that the line goes all the way around the block (which I tried warn him about), I guess he didn't believe me - silly boy!
On the bright side, at least they are giving people in line Starbucks coffee - at low 40ies degrees - this is no doubt being welcomed by many!
Anyway, happy Friday and have a good weekend everyone! =o)
This is from a different Apple launch, and I believe it's of a store in NY...
"On top of that, AT&T has made significant job commitments, including our commitment to make a job offer guarantee available to existing T-Mobile USA non-management employees, our commitment to retain the two companies’ U.S. call center employees, and our commitment to bring 5,000 call center jobs back to the U.S."
Yeah right - and how many jobs will be lost, in order to create 5,000 (I read once 27,000)? ^smh^
A little desperate there MetroPCS - I mean really?
Even though this is a little lame on MetroPC's part - there's still a little humor to be gained from their failed attempt. Although, I'll say this - the girl in their video - is NO "Carly"!
Phuck Klondike! What would you do for aIce Cream Sandwich?
While humming the tune to "What would you do for a Klondike Bar", I'd run around the front lawn of the Google headquarters, and lick each of their statues.
Yeah, it's a health risk - but it's a risk I am willing to take... ;o)
"Deviant artist Mohamed Raoof had that same thought, but instead of it being a 2 second thought, like most of us would, he took his art skills and created some wonderful looking pieces of what the Angry Birds would look like if they were real."
I am curious to see where Google goes with G+ and it's development. There are several features I'd like to eventually see, like Groups (you know, like the other network has?).
Creating group circles is ok, but not very convenient - because you have to add so many people, in order for it to 1/2 way work.
I'd like to see another tab added (next to games), of groups (for example); Android,BMW,Recipes,Runners or whatever groups you're interested in joining (without having to add everyone)!
What are some things you'd like to see Google add to G+?
Seeing a few threads about this issue in the past few weeks and sounds like not many people are aware of how to restore their circles.
If you clean up your contacts in Gmail or merge duplicates, you might notice a few people missing from your circles. To get them back, follow the steps in the article linked below and restore your contacts to a time when your circles were intact.
The big kitties like Halloween too - and they can sure carve a mean pumpkin!
"Each year we are lucky enough to receive left over pumpkins from stores after halloween, pumpkins are a great source of enrichment for our cats, as well as a great source of entertainment for the staff and volunteers at Big Cat Rescue!"
"All the cats love to play, eat and generally demolish the pumpkins, providing them with hours of entertainment, watch as we show you what they get up to when they are given one of their favourite treats!"
Can anyone confirm this? (And translate it, while you're at it.) ;o)
If this is true, maybe it's the GSM version for T-Mobile (hopeful thinking)? As the Nexus S for T-Mobile was also sold at Best Buy, and not through T-Mobile.
This is not to say that Verizon's version won't also be sold at Best Buy, just not sure of it's code number.
"The SCH-I515 aka the Samsung Galaxy Nexus has appeared among the listings in Best Buy's Cellebrite system."
I'll admit, that I had gotten a little burned out on AB after awhile - and since losing all my levels (after having to do a total reset last week), not sure that I want to start over.
But this looks cute, and the temptation may get the better of me. ;o)
Not that this is a big shock, but Nexus Prime is at 63%... although I would have expected a little higher than 63% - like 83%?
With the SGS 2 in second place at 21% - and if the Nexus Prime doesn't come to T-Mobile, ^sighs^...I guess I'll be getting the 2nd place phone too. pffft...
If you don't have +Mickey Mellen in your circles, you should! He's created and posted a LOT of helpful step-by-step videos on how the get the most out of G+.
So rather than me re-sharing all his videos, and spamming the wall - consider adding him, especially if you're new to G+ - great info and tips!
Yeah, Mickey - I've pimped you out! lol ;o)
Also, might consider getting the Google+ tips app - which also will help you.
But I have to be honest, I am not near as excited about this as I was yesterday. At this point, I am just keeping my fingers crossed, that the lack of T-Mobile support (HSPA+) or not even being on T-Mobile - are just nasty rumors.
However given that this will be exclusive to Verizon (for the time being), I may not even bother to watch it and waste my data. As I don't think I can watch it, without a full box of tissues near by...
That being said, of course I am joking! As I know there's a GSM version coming - saw the FCC doc last week!
The questions I think we GSM users have though, will it have HSPA+? Will it be on T-Mobile, with HSPA+ (or will we get screwed with 3G)? Will it hit AT&T first?
Here's my prediction...
The GSM version will launch in December - just before Christmas. Just as the Nexus S launched on the 16th of December last year.
Worst case scenario, is that the GSM version doesn't get launched until January or February - well after the holidays, giving Verizon the upper sales hand for the holidays.
Yeah, I know it's not a pretty picture - and I for one am not sure that I'll wait that long.
By the time December rolls around, XDA will have the ICS ready for us to put on any phone we choose (within reason). So I may have to settle for the GSG 2...
