Otra cosa super poderosa es la integracion con los demas servicios de Google. Si tengo el contacto agregado me da la opcion de contactarlo por todas las vias disponibles

Google debe hacer algun tipo de campaña o estrategia para mover al usuario "comun" hacia los servicios de ellos mas alla del Search y YouTube. Porque cuando uno usa todos los servicios de google es que esta integracion que lograron en Google+ hace sentido realmente y se ve la magia del producto.

Parece que Google está comenzando a entender mejor como brindar productos verdaderamente sociales para el mainstream y no para los Google Geeks.

My latest Feedback for Google+ :

When sharing new Posts in the recipients box it stays by default with the last circle(s) that you shared your previous post with. This can lead to unwillingly posting something to a circle you dont want to, or leave it public.

I would suggest to give the option to define which circles by default are you going to post always. Just like the settings for auto-accepting photo tagging.

It happened that I shared a link to "Public" and on my next post I wrote something that was meant for my circles, but since "Public" was already there by default, I didn't realized about it until a couple of minutes later.

Con esto, no solo se mostrara en el Stream del circulo que lo compartiste, sino, que tambien le llega una notificacion puntual a cada miembro de ese circulo :D

NOTA: tiene una limitante, solo a circulos con menos de 25 miembros.

1) The next time you share something, you'll see a dialog explaining how to edit or delete your post, or disable comments or reshares.

2) When you try to share a limited post, you'll see a friendly reminder to be thoughtful about who you're sharing with.

3) You can't share limited posts publicly. (You can still share limited posts with other individuals and circles.)

And just to reiterate: as the author you always have the option of disabling reshares entirely on a given post. Just click the triangle menu at the top right of your post, and select "Disable reshare."

As I bet you've noticed, we are facing pretty incredible demand for Google+ invites.

As Engineering Director of Google+, I wanted to take a moment to explain why we're growing the system slowly. First, we want to make sure our infrastructure scales so the service remains fast and reliable. Second, we want to ensure that bugs are fixed while there are still a relatively few people in the field trial.

Things are going well with the systems right now so we feel comfortable enough to open up invites for a brief period. Our goal is to double the user base in the field trial. (Sorry, we're not giving details about how many folks are in the field trial yet).

So, in a few minutes, we'll open up invites again.

We continue to throttle invites, so please don't mass invite folks as it won't work. If you invite a handful of your most important friends and family you're much more likely to get these folks into our system.

1. The Gmail app on Android isn't part of the OS update anymore, but is separately updated from Market (http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2010/09/updated-gmail-app-in-android-market.html). And this update comes with some very nice features: better priority inbox support, quoted text...

2. Finally, we are allowing many more people outside of the U.S. to make cheaper phone calls through Gmail (http://gmailblog.blogspot.com/2011/08/calling-from-gmail-now-in-38-languages.html).

Even I have a hard time to stay in the loop of everything that we are working on and releasing in Gmail. Which is good problem to have :-)

Some more Google+ experiments that are rolling out as we speak:

You can now + reply anyone who commented on your post regardless of whether they have "find me in search" enabled. Hey, if they wrote to you, seems to make sense that you should be able to write back, right?

We removed the "blocked circle" and added a new menu for managing your blocked people.

We added a new invite dialog that provides a URL you can give out to your friends so they can join. I know, Vic already posted this one. Just re-posting in case you missed Vic's post.

For technical reasons, the little black bar across the top of the page, and the rest of the page, used a different event system. Now they don't, which means that if you add a friend from the notification bar on the top of the page, they will immediately show up as a friend on the bottom of the page. I know, crazy.

Fixed the count for # of followers. The number used to be capped at 10,000 in the people editor (even if you had more), now it is accurate. Also, we used different algorithms for calculating your followers in profiles vs. the list on your circles. We now use the same algorithm for both so they should always match.

My team just got a list from our consumer operations group of over 25,000 suggestions of great stuff we should be working on. Almost 6,000 of those were about the #s not matching in profiles and the circle editor (fixed!). A couple hundred were questions about whether sharing to your circles included your block circle (fixed!). Needless to say, much of what we do is based on what you guys ask for. We even had a few people tell us it was just cruel to show photos of their X's in their block circle, so, we removed photos for people you've blocked =)

Now, off to go address a few more of the issues. Stay tuned, lots of great stuff coming.

I welcomed the announcement of Google buying Motorola Mobility because of its 17,000 patent portfolio. This gives Google a great edge over its competition in the patent lawsuits war. However, Google needs to be extremely cautious entering a business they are not familiar with: hardware manufacturing.

This theory makes a lot of sense. It looks like Google made all the right moves prior to acquire Motorola Mobility.

At the end of the day, Microsoft and Apple paid $750,000 for each of Nortel’s patents, while Google paid $510,204 for each of Motorola’s patents and got a huge device manufacturer as a bonus. Which company do you think got the best deal?

Apparently one cannot Re-Share a post of someone who's making a Re-Share of something someone else originally posted. It will Re-Share the original post instead of the recent one, which in many cases has a clarification of an issue.

Some more tips and tricks for using Google+ search:

* Saved searches are like streams When you hit the "Save this Search" button, you're creating a new stream that shows up below your ordinary streams. Circle streams are built around groups of people; search streams are built around common interests. So if you save (e.g.) "BBC Sherlock", what you're saving is a stream of people who are interested in that show. It can be a great place to meet people, and to talk about the things you care about.

* You can use hashtags like #plustips Hashtags are just strings that begin with a # symbol, but people use them to identify subjects or topics of interest. Stick those in your posts, and you can search for them, too. (For example, check out the searches for #plustips or #storycircle) And hashtagging is a collaborative effort: if you add a hashtag in a comment, that tags the post as well.

* You can share searches The URL you get when you do a search is just https://plus.google.com/s/<whatever>. You can share this link around and other people get that same search stream; they don't have to be logged in, or even Google+ users, in order to see that link. (Of course, if you aren't logged in, you'll only see public content)

And of course, we're working intensely on making Google+ search a more and more powerful experience. We want to turn these searches into a place where you can find your (and your friends') content, where you can find people, and where people with common interests can meet and talk -- and there's a lot more in the works to make that happen!

Have you noticed that Sparks have been re-branded as Saved Searches

If you search for anything in the search box of Google+ it would give you the option to Save this Search and automatically be added to your left panel, where Sparks used to be. When you do the search it would let you browse through: Everything, People, Google+ Posts or Sparks

One of my favorite parts about circles is how they help me control who I share with, as well as what I read. In fact, many of you have created lots of great circles around topics that interest you (like Photographers) to bring lots of great content to your stream. In these cases, we've heard that you actually want to share your circles with others. Both to save your friends some time, and to connect them with interesting people and content.

Today I'm happy to announce that we're launching exactly that feature. We let you take the circles you've created, and share them with others! Let me show you how it works.

From your circles page... select the circle you want, add a comment, and then share it.

When your friends receive your circle, they can then pick and choose who to add to their own circles.

Note that when you share a circle, you're only sharing its members at that time. The circle name is always private to you, and any changes you make to your circle afterwards are private as well.

As you may have read, today we announced our plans to retire Google Buzz along with some other products. Many people anticipated that we would retire Buzz, so this shouldn’t come as a huge surprise. But as someone closely involved in the creation of Buzz, I wanted to share some personal thoughts.

What did we learn from Buzz? Plenty. We learned privacy is not a feature... it is foundational to the product. And this awareness gave us the resolve to design privacy in from the very beginning, which led to Circles for sharing the right information with the right people, as well as transparency around which parts of your profile can be seen by whom. We also learned how compelling it is to have meaningful conversations with interesting people, which we're happy to see happening all the time in Google+.

But probably the best lesson we learned is about how to introduce a product. We started very slowly with Google+ -- in a limited Field Trial - in order to listen and learn and gather plenty of real-world feedback. Your participation in the process is helping create what Google+ is today.

So why retire Buzz now? Well, we think the time has come for us to focus our energy on projects that will have the most impact to the most users. And creating these great products requires great focus. With the majority of Buzz users now here on Google+, it became obvious that all of our attention should be focused on this community.

And since every end is also a beginning, we will continue the project we began just over three month ago. As we move forward, we are hopefully wiser for our experience, and grateful for all it’s taught us -- and me. I am humbled that we are now able to continue learning and growing together with the more than 40 million participants in the Google+ project. Onward!

Encontre esta website hurgando por aqui en G+. Basicamente puedes ver los posts que has publicado (publicos) en G+ e ir ordenando por los mas comentados, los mas compartidos, etc.

Creo que es una buena herramienta para los que publican muchas cosas Public y les interesa ver cuales posts realmente causaron mas impacto.

Solo tienen que reemplazar el Google ID del final del link por el suyo (o el de alguien mas) y asi comenzar a probar.

Update: Since LinkedIn is using sha-1 and not sha-256 or something better, this may all be incorrect.

The LinkedIn password leak isn't as big a deal as everyone is playing it out to be. The hashed passwords were leaked. A "hash" is a one way transformation from one "word" to another.

For example, "password" hashes to "5baa61e4c9b93f3f0682250b6cf8331b7ee68fd8". (Using Sha-1, which is what I think LinkedIn uses. This may be bad too cause sha-1 is pretty crappy.)

What this means is that if you are using the password "swordfish", for example, the hash would be "4f57181dcaade980555f2ce6755ca425f00658be". Someone can then search the leaked list of password hashes, and find all the users that have a password of "swordfish" by searching for its hash. [1]

However, if you are using a random, non-dictionary, password. The chances of an attacker checking your password of "j%Nf34#!" is extremely low (72 ^ 8 for 8 character passwords, give or take a few bajillion).

In summary, use don't use dictionary passwords, mmmmk.

[1] If LinkedIn had been "salting" the hash, ie, adding a random fixed value into the computation before hashing, this would have all been a nonissue. Unless the salt was leaked too.

Salvemos a las Mujeres

El irrespeto por la naturaleza ha afectado la supervivencia de varios seres, y entre los más amenazados está la hembra de la especie humana.
Tengo apenas un ejemplar en casa, que mantengo con mucho celo y dedicación, pero en verdad creo que es ella la que me mantiene.

Por lo tanto, por una cuestión de auto-supervivencia, lanzo la campaña  *Salvemos a las mujeres* . Tomen de acá mis pocos conocimientos sobre la fisiología de la feminidad, con el fin de que preservemos los raros y preciosos ejemplares que todavía quedan:

1. Hábitat
La mujer no puede vivir en cautiverio. Si está enjaulada, huirá o morirá por dentro. No hay cadenas que las aten y las que se someten a la jaula pierden su DNA. Usted jamás tendrá la posesión sobre una mujer; lo que la va a atar a usted es una línea frágil que necesita ser reforzada diariamente.

2. Alimentación correcta
Nadie vive de la brisa. Mujer vive de cariño. Dele en abundancia. Es cosa de hombre, y si ella no lo recibe de usted, lo buscará en otro. Besos matinales y un “yo te amo” al desayuno las mantienen bellas y perfumadas durante todo el día. Un abrazo diario es como el agua para los helechos. No la deje deshidratarse. Por lo menos una vez al mes es necesario, si no obligatorio, servirle un plato especial.

3. Flores:
También hacen parte del menú. Mujer que no recibe flores se marchita rápidamente y adquiere rasgos masculinos como la brusquedad y el trato áspero.

4. Respete la naturaleza
¿No soporta la TPM (tensión pre-menstrual)? Cásese con un hombre!. Las mujeres menstrúan, lloran por cualquier cosa, les gusta hablar de cómo les fue en el día, de discutir sobre la relación. Si quiere vivir con una mujer, prepárese para eso.

5. No restrinja su vanidad
Es propio de la mujer hidratar las mechas, pintarse las uñas, echarse labial, estar todo un día en el salón de belleza, coleccionar aretes, comprarse muchos zapatos, pasar horas escogiendo ropas en un centro comercial. Comprenda todo esto y apóyela.

6. El cerebro femenino no es un mito
Por inseguridad, la mayoría de los hombres prefiere no creer en la existencia del cerebro femenino. Por ello, buscan aquellas que fingen no tenerlo (y algunas realmente lo jubilaron). Entonces, aguante: mujer sin cerebro no es mujer, sino un simple objeto decorativo. Si usted está cansado de coleccionar estatuillas, intente relacionarse con una mujer.
Algunas le mostrarán que tienen más materia gris que usted. No les huya, aprenda con ellas y crezca. Y no se preocupe; al contrario de lo que ocurre con los hombres, la inteligencia no funciona como repelente para las mujeres.

7. No haga sombra sobre ella...
Si usted quiere ser un gran hombre tenga una mujer a su lado, nunca atrás. De esa forma, cuando ella brille, usted se bronceará. Sin embargo, si ella está atrás, usted llevará una patada en el trasero.

8. Acepte
Mujeres también tienen luz propia y no dependen de nosotros para brillar. El hombre sabio alimenta los potenciales de su compañera y los utiliza para motivar los propios. Él sabe que, preservando y cultivando la mujer, él estará salvándose a si mismo.
  
¡Sólo tiene mujer quien puede!

Google Nexus 7 Tablet Specs Leaked

Looks like some information about the unannounced Google Nexus 7 Tablet have leaked this morning, just days before the Google IO developer conference in San Francisco. Sadly I won't be there this year, as I leave for Nicaragua tomorrow morning, but it is nice to get a little sneak peak. Here is what Gizmodo Australia found:

- 7-inch tablet called the Nexus 7
- Built by ASUS with both ASUS and Nexus branding on the back
- Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
- 1.3Ghz quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor
- 1GB RAM
- 8GB / 16GB onboard storage options
- NFC with Google Wallet and Android Beam
- IPS Display (1280 by 800 pixel resolution)
- 1.2 MP front facing camera
- 9 hour battery life

$199/$249 for the 8GB/16GB versions respectively

My Thoughts:

At $199 and $249, the Google Nexus 7 Tablet is going to be hard to pass on. While I know some will complain about there only being a front facing camera, I RARELY take photos on any tablet I have owned, so that doesn't phase me. The one spec I don't see yet is a micro SD slot. While I will be getting two anyway (one for my wife), having expandable storage is one of my favorite features of Android tablets. I love the 7 in form factor for both size and weight when traveling. A 7" IPS screen is more then enough for showing of my photography work while on the road. Crossing my fingers and awaiting the official announcement in a few days from Google.
